- Former Champion jockey Oisin Murphy sat down with Oli Bell ahead of QIPCO British Champions Day 2023 to reflect on a remarkable year.
The Qatar Racing retained jockey talks through a range of subjects, not least the long-lasting impact that his extended ban from the sport has made on his approach to riding and to life.
Murphy also gives his thoughts on QIPCO British Champions Day; what the raceday means to him and what this year's renewal has in store.
Fantastic to listen to,and amazing to watch in the saddle.
Excellent interview.
I could listen to that guy all day. Every word is gold dust
Oisin is a great ambassador for racing. I met him at Newbury when he was banned. He signed my and my daughters racing book and was really approachable and kind with his time.
Unlike Gosden that is not generous with a signature even in a evening when there’s hardly any crowd there at all. I found that very mean of him.
Good luck Oisin. A truly great and dependable jockey.
Perhaps John Gosden had his horses' and owners' interests on his mind.
Top man Oisin. enough said from me. ;)
The most eloquent of all jockeys and a champion on and off the track
Just saw Horsepower on BBC4 last night. Oisín was truly amazing and the Balding family too. Seán
Oisin a true sportsman
If you listen this Guy he is fairly well educated and Speaks well..But when he told us he had sex with a partner and got cocaine in his system thats just not correct to give us that BS...Dont you think?
I think he has served his time and come out the other side well.
I think when in the public eye your private life seems to be open to all, but that does not take away as a human we all have personal demons and never judge someone unless you walk in their shoes. He is a class act and a top rider. Imagine having that commitment to do as much as he has in his chosen profession at only 28? He should be admired, wisdom only comes with mistakes and wisdom can be passed on to stars of the future. Thank the lord for Oisin Murphy
