Sir Mark trains from Heath House Stables, at the bottom of Warren Hill, in Newmarket. He has trained over 2000 winners, including the 2022 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, Alpinista.
I love listening to Sir Mark. I'm in Cape Toen South Africa on a cold Sunday, been watching him all day. A great orator, and a legend of a trainer. I was at York years ago to see his filly win The Yorkshire Oaks.
I thought I’d watch this because I did not know who this guy was, and in less than one minute. He absolutely impressed me. His accent, his delivery. talking about his father, the background, no bullshit to the point. No poor old me?
Great stuff, would have been nice to go into more depth about how he gets his horses well hcapped and running up sequences. Loves the line “do you want to finish second in a Windsor Castle or win 7 races in a row?”
@@johnristheanswer Yeah and he’s been one of the best at it for years just a shame we can’t hear all the juicy details as it’s technically not allowed so can’t incriminate himself…..but there must be some great stories.
@@johnristheanswer I mean he can’t just say “yeh we started Pasternak off at 5f and just covered him up for 6 races as a 2yo before stepping him up to middle distances when he was 30lb well in”….its hardly encouraged behaviour as we saw with the Skeltons at Cheltenham but as a horse racing fan I put up with the plots and see it as part of the game.
Im.a national hunt man through and through but love Sir Mark. He rode at Wye racecourse and came back from a terrible injury. A good coursing man and game fowl man too. He speaks so much sense. He should be in charge of British racing.

" my name is Mark Prescott and I know the handicap system inside out ".
Legend. Could listen to him all day.
Agree - I have been lucky to meet him and listen to his chat at two stable visits. He has always got a story or two and a joke.
Really enjoyed this interview. What a character. A man with a glint in his eye. It must be from those visits to Clonmel. 👏👏👏
My Favourite Horse Trainer of All time

He runs his horses over the wrong distance to get a mark , then over the correct distance to win.

@@gavinblack450 Not sure what you mean by " technically not allowed " ? If he's working within the rules ( which he is ) , he's doing nothing wrong.
