Getting back into models after a 50yr hiatus .I'm amazed at your work! The materials just weren't there , when I built a diorama it was out of culclay putty tissue paper stick and twigs from the yard , the modles were filled with squadron green stuff an handles hinges or you name it built from starch . The reference books photos all had to be bought unless one lived near a large library, or traded for .The kits were nothing like the quality .I had an air brush back last century nothing like today's. It's easier now but the quality is some much better it's actual art not some nut with nothing to do at night but bild models . I'll continue to teach this old new tricks an I would be thrilled to hear from you . OLD DOG
In addition to your superb creativity and ultimate modeling skills, your videos have no peers as they ALWAYS demonstrate what you are doing and how you are doing it. The fabrication of the door hinges and the large doors themselves are a case in point. You show how you splinter the bottom of the individual boards and the framing behind them where they are attached. You show how you wrap and form the door hinges from pewter foil. You call out the paint and colors you use. You are providing tutorial video every step of the way. I, for one, genuinely appreciate your exceptional talents and I’m sure the same goes for your subscribes and viewers. Thank you.
Superb....brings back memories of when I was a kid doing all these models and dioramas (32 years ago). I'm 46 now and I'm seriously contemplating starting up this hobby again 😁
Brilliant craftsmen make creating beautiful art look so easy that it’s scary. I know enough from a lifetime of dabbling that nothing is easy, that work like yours takes incredible patience, a great eye for detail, an ability to capture the feeling of a scene, and a level of talent that is beyond most people. Like going to a concert of the best band in the world, there is nothing like watching a master at work. Thank you for sharing!
Every time you bring out a new piece of work, i m stunned. Maybe you dont know, but for many of our fellow moddelers you are a real treasure of info and examples. Each time again. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us . Greetings from Belgium.
Ian, I can only express how much I appreciate your commitment to detail on every item, from the ground up. I have learned a lot from all your videos. I hope one day to reach your level of excellence. Thank you for taking the extra time to share your projects. This dio is one of my favorites. Regards, Bill
Good Day Modelcomrade. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For this Diorama. The many Details on the buildings. The Camouflage of the Panther with the small tress. Only wow Nice work Greets from Christian
Another work of art, absolutely superb, just the right amount of vegetation. Enjoyed the video too, helpful tips with products and paints is extremely helpful for me and my useless memory . Thank you 👍
Very talented work! I've never been asked to do a large scale diorama, and learned quite a bit as 1:35 is quite different from the 1:90 projects that have occasionally been assigned me at work! My only tiny pick is that wheel tracks in the mud from the door and alley should also go to the far side of the road, as vehicles have wheels on both sides. But this is so much better than a lonely tank model sitting on a glass shelf; even if a viewer wasn't a tank fan, they would have to be fascinated with the overall scene. Big thumbs up!
This video I've watched many times. What's the size of the buildings. I do struggle with the sizes of buildings. Amazing work as always. Keep up these inspirational videos
Thanks......the larger barn is approx 19cm wide and 15cm tall......I don't really measure anything but just eyeball it against a 1/35 figure or vehicle and photo of real buildings 👍
I do so very much love watching your videos, you are a craft genius. Your work is exceptional and you inspire me. Your videos are so much better than television, thank you so much for entertaining me 👍
What you can conjure out of a bit of foam is absolutely mind blowing. You really have set the bar for architecture in this scale - a pleasure to watch you work. 👏👏It looked convincing before you started painting! Nice to watch it develop - top content! 👍
Wow that is simply fantastic. I am going to do a Normandy diorama for a friend whos uncle was killed there in 1944. Will use a bren light carrier and some british infantry to depict him leaving for his last patrol. Hopefully its half as great as yours!
I'm 14 and want to start making stuff like this. Recently saw one of Boylei Hobby Time's videos and got inspired. Also just watched Band of Brothers so I'm super into ww2 history right now. This combines the best of both worlds! I have a project coming up for school on WWII and was gonna do a diorama. Probably won't be this good, but thanks for the inspiration!
Outstanding in every aspect ! I like the length of your videos. I'd rather watch the whole "movie" than the series. Anyway, waiting for your next project. Cheers from Germany !
I'm glad you're taking a break 'cause my mind sure needs one - you keep blowing it away, mate!!! Excellent work overall and a fabulous paint job on those figures. Thank you for showing me my deficiencies... uhh, I mean your talent 😁Have a nice and peaceful break! Greetings, Mike
Exquisite modelling… Sublime attention to detail… Another masterpiece from a Master of his art! Superb work, Ian! Watching you bring your outline concept into reality is both therapeutic and enlightening. I have been away from military / armour modelling for over thirty years, but enjoy watching your work, along with one or two select others. I look forward to seeing your next project!
Simply WOW mate😦👌 The Panther & figures as usual are beautifully painted, but it’s the buildings & groundwork that set your dioramas above the rest!! To create the stone work from a piece of simple foam as always impressive, love the extra detail - like the bricked up door & just highlighting some of the roof tiles make all the difference. All really smart work…vegetation, dirt track - perfect…. 🤗
Professional. Unlike me and my p 51 and p 47 and my little diorama with a Sherman and some Germans fighting it out back in the 80s. I’m amazed at how much talent this dude has
Wonderful stuff. I learn something every single time I watch your videos. I was especially interested in the Panther too, as that particular kit is on my wish list! Your buildings are outstanding, you make it look so straightforward. I'm looking forward to the new video format for a more in depth look at your process. Can't wait, but get out there and enjoy the sunshine!
Outstanding good work, Ian. Perfect from the diorama to the figures to the panther. A well timed scene. High-end work in any case and with this result a great showcase piece. Best wishes, Joachim
Black XPS foam seems like a huge time-saver. Here, you can only get bright pink or blue, and so you have to pre-paint anything that might later be hard to get to (like the area of foam behind the wooden garage doors you built)
I'm just starting out with modelling, and this video is an inspiration for me to learn a lot and hopefully get it nicely detailed in the future 🤩 Ich fange gerade erst mit Modellbau an, und dieses Video ist eine Inspiration für mich viel zu lernen und es hoffentlich in Zukunft auch schön und detailliert hinzubekommen 🤩
New to modeling and diarama building, what type of foam is that for sculpting the building, where did you get it? Awesome video and craftsmanship, thank you.
