Well.. you can see what it acts like at ~ 2100 FPS as that was the impact at 500 yd.

Hornady factory ammo is 2285 with I believe a 16" barrel so that nets you the same performance as this at 400 yards.

      Straight from Hornady:
So this bullet was intended for the 300 Blackout. However the bullet will handle from 1600-3200 fps. impacts to create expansion. Now anything above the 2800 fps. you are going to very likely start shedding petals off the bullet during pass throughs. Thanks

In rewatching this again, I'd like to see the side profile of the bases.
Also a 10% or 20% gel test would be very interesting to see. But I guess I'll just have to try them on black tails and black bears instead.
Im going to use the 140 (30/30) Mono Flex non lead bullets in my 308. I've built and shot 200 rounds thus far on target so far. They group well in my 20" Savage when it not too fouled.
These shoud expand hard wide and fast. Hopefully lose its petals too. I like satilite (copper) projestiles.
Im going try this bullet as well in my 20" 308. I believe two jug penetration is plenty. I believe water in tougher or a harder medium than 20% gel. And again, i am a fan of satilite projectiles. I believe thats what the partion is. Water and gel test only show so much. The partion to me is still king in some ways. But im wantingbto move away from lead.

Yep, think you guys made good use of that heat shield tip. Bet that 130 grainer would be smoking hot in the 30-06!
I like the results of this video.

Those was probably designed for the 300 Blackout and I betcha the Wilson Combat 300 Ham'r would do well since it's about 2-250fps faster than the Blackout

Fabulous! Now please do 165 gr. and 180 gr. CXs, at 308 Winchester velocities! Forget Win Mag. We all know what mono bullets do at high velocity, it's the low velocity tests that separate the "winners from the losers". Thank you so much, I love these tests! Cheers

We'll add them to the list! I think we do have the 165's loaded up in 300 Win Mag right now, but we could definitely run the 180's in a .308! Thanks for watching!

I have a 308 “short Range” (< 150M) moose gun and I load these same pills for many others at our gun club. 180gr Monos work great. Their all I shoot now. My Sako finnlight 6.5 creedmoor loves the Barnes 127gr. I’d love to see a 160gr mono in .264 cal.

Wow! Looks like a Lazer out there. I think you are on to something and close to a great hunting round. It would be interesting to see the next larger mass CX bullets. Can you try it in 120 and 130gr ? I really enjoy seeing the terminal performance of the bullets that you test. It's important information for hunters. Thank you.😊

Along with the 110 tx . You should try the 120 Tac-TX . It has a higher BC then the 130 TTSX. Which my son's have killed truck loads of big game ,including numerous bull moose . The 120Tac-Tx expands better at longer ranges . GreT video 👍

I would really like to see these on deer, especially the 120 lb blk tails.
The satilite projectiles, I believe, do more then we realize. But only really can be proved on live game.
The core, from what you said, sounded pretty darn small.

I wonder how much a bullet jacketing apparatus cost, then you can play with metallurgy for whatever application you desire. I like 308 for it's practicality in all aspects and I'm a believer of hydrostatic shock. Now to get 3k fps on 18" ar would make me a happy camper. It's a world of give and take but I want an ar, 18" barrel at 3k fps and the perfect combo of penetration, expansion and hydrostatic shock.

Wow. The reason I choose monolithic bullets is to NOT HAVE excessive fragmentation. I want controlled expansion and that is not what happened here. Even at impact velocities below 2400 fps this bullet did not hold together. I would love to see a response from Hornady on this specific test.

I use CX bullets in my 375 Ruger. I found they work great on moose. I recovered only 1 out of 3 bullets ftom 2 moose. (Pass-throughs for 2 at close range broadside). The bullet mushroom was perfect and weight was 245gr.(250gr) I chronographed the load and it was 2700 f/s @ 12ft. The bullet I recovered was from a 475yd shot. Both moose were just under 1100 lbs.

Fantastic test. I would love to see you test this against the 110 Barnes TTSX with the same powder charge. I wonder if the Barnes will blow like the CX? I shoot the Barnes TTSX in many calibers ranging from 223 Remington - 375 Ruger, and haven’t witness fragmentation like this. Thanks again. ☺️

It might break up at closer ranges, but looking at your outcomes you can guarantee it will be a very fast killer of small to medium sized, thin skinned deer. A heavier version around 150gr in .30 cal would be very interesting to see.

I check my rifles with a bore scope last couple of years I have experienced excesseve, at least what I think excessive copper fouling which can be an exercise removing, I recently watched a podcast from Hornady that be advised the CX bullet will deposit alot of copper in the barrel, and you will have to provide maintenance to your barrel after using this bullet.Hornady does promote cleaning and shooting a clean barrel ( I agree with that). I am considering trying this CX bullet, what is your experience after using this bullet, Copper fouling can really mess with accuracy i have been there a few times. Thanks for all the effort you put into these demonstrations.
