Having watched the first two episodes and being 13 when I first listened to Kanye, I remember just saying to myself, I wanna be like Kanye. This documentary really gives insight. I did not expect it to be as hard as it was for me to watch the final episode. I paused it so many times to get my emotions in check. Having seen Kanye’s journey in the first two episodes through the lens of Coodie, it was all the more striking, the extent of the decline of his mental health. It was hard to watch. Devastating. Tragic even. If this film doesn’t, not just get nominated for an Academy Award but win for best documentary, I will never watch the Oscars again. Excellent job Coodie and Chike and all those that helped bring the vision to fruition.

This is not a documentation, this is a diary. It shows that Kanye is a visionary and he never lets himself be defeated. Even after his downfalls (even his mother's death), he keeps coming up. It is a diary for life reflection and that God exists and is always planning, whether you believe in it or not.
Coodie you are a GOAT for the recording this since in the late 90s/ earlier 00s. I am very happy that you could still meet Kanye to continue the masterpiece. Kanye is a top 10-5 artists of all time.
I‘m hope & pray that Kanye in his topical Situation finding peace with Pete & Kim and coming more closer to God.

Too bad his recent actions, out of jealousy for Pete, negates all his greatness. He’s being a jackass. If he’s all about God, and being gods servant, his actions are not very Christian like. He’s single-handedly ruining his legacy

This documentary was genius and felt organic. The story was told from the outside looking in. It's like reading a story in third person.... Being close enough to understand the emptions without getting a first person perspective of what is actually being felt. If Kanye had done this on his own, I don't know if it would have been received from such a humble and organic view as Coodie did.

The story is of course interesting, but I thought this was really bad documentary filmmking. The moments where Coodie interrupts the story and shows his personal life did not make any sense, were ridiculous, had no place within the central theme, i.e. the development of Kanye as an artist. The documentary is called Jeen-Yuhs (a.k.a. Kanye West) not Coodie. And the way he just skipped 6 years without barely commenting milestones in West's life, such as the making of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus, among many other, was just ridiculuos. Just bad filmmaking.

U hating... art has no rules they only exits to be broken. The fact that Coodie made this so real and organic makes it a true masterpiece

I mean, it wasn't just about Kanye, it was also about the feelings and intentions of the filmaker, Coodie, for wanting to capture these moments. Seems reasonable to me that he would show how his disconnect happened as well.

It's not organic nor a masterpiece. It's just bad script, bad storytelling, bad filmmaking. And if you're not present or can't comment on over 6 years (!) of your doc's subject, years which are some of the most consequential for the subject you're portraying, then you're obviously not the right person to tell the story. That's basic. Kanye is a great story, but the filmmaking was really disjointed and just amateurish.

You gotta remember this was never meant to be 7.5 hrs so it’s gonna seem less tight and flowing , overall he did a good job and their relationship breaking was a good insight in to the story , I actually feel sad Kanye pushed this guy away cause it seems he was a real one but hey maybe Kanye has his reasons but his mum always reached out shows you he must be a good dude.
