I broke my arm (radius) 2 years ago, since then I've dealt with elbow pain in that arm while lifting. Not excruciating pain, but enough for me to wear a compression sleeve on my left elbow when I workout triceps & chest. Did the test you mentioned in the video and it definitely seems like my shoulder is not externally rotating like it should. It's awesome to have an explanation as to why I've dealt with elbow pain, vs not knowing the cause at all. Thanks for your info! I created an account & subscribed to follow your future uploads.
Hey doc, i know you posted this vid a while back, but i have a congenital elbow contracture, cant extend my right arm completely (about a 30-45 degree loss of extension). It’s very difficult to sleep and find a comfortable posture to sit and simply be. My shoulder is also pressed forward because of the contracture. (Imagine what playing sports or rather trying to play sports as a kid was like, i really was embarrassed.) Im still in my 20’s and afraid to get surgery or rather no surgeon will see me because they said the x-rays show soft tissue thats prohibiting motion and they said if they do the surgery the soft tissue may return and it may be worse. I’m at a loss and just want to know your take on this, dont want a bent arm for the rest of my life, and i know others have it much worse than i do but believe me im trying my best. Thanks for all your hard work!
I have had it from age 20 If i have my elbow on a table looks like in going to arm wrestle im 57 it never gets better in my 40s Lifting 300 pounds it snapped , the dr said it pulled the muscles off the bone . I was a labor Oilfield lifting 500 pounds every day , now that im older when I lift I tear stuff you hear it rip , thats why im here looking for exercises keep away from surgery
Hey Doc. Could you cover forearm pain while curling with a barbell in one of your future videos. btw great content, your videos helped me with my hips.
Awesome content as usual. I really appreciate your deep understanding of how the body works and being able to present that information to the public in this format. Personally I had elbow pain on the forearm side of my elbow that was solved by strengthening my forearms and stretching at the wrists. I now seem to be developing pain at the elbow interior just below the bicep. looks like "common flexor tendon termination point. I wonder if this fit within the parameters of what your saying in this video. I do seem to have an internal rotation at the shoulders, though I thought it wasnt severe. I would love to her your opinion on this!
Hey man, thanks so much for the info. I have recurrent bilateral, currently right greater than left, pain of the soft tissues overlying the medial epicondyle - thinking insertion of the forearm flexors and pronators. Tenderness to palpation and with excessive range of motion in supination and elbow extension. It seems to flare up when I do pronated or supinated chin ups (neutral grip seems okay) or when I have done heavy bicep curls in the past ... or most recently working back into light cleans - no heavier than 135. Do you think, in those movements, excessive shoulder internal rotation could be playing a part? Thank you so much for all the great knowledge and advice!
Hey doc start following u recently grate information...im Michael I got a shoulder pain that is hurting me no matter I try would glad if u can give me a few tips to help me out wit this problem thank u very much
I have a quick question, I currently has medial epicondylitis, along West by simple tendonitis in my right arm and shoulder. Neither of them have been getting any better even know I've been taking time off from upper body work with the exception of some rotator cuff strengthening exercises for rehab. My question is what can I do to help recover From both of these conditions so I can get back to a normal routine,
Awesome videos dude, do you know of any stretching/mobility for ulnar nerve? Feel it slip off and on the bone during movements or is a sleeve/cuff the only way to prevent this from happening. I've also heard of nerve flossing. Thanks man.
This happens to me, after i got some subluxation then a full blown anterior dislocation fo the shoulder. Now stabilizing it. But i lose quite a bit of external rotation at the shoulder. It is mostly glenohumeral and feels like being stuck. As when I compensate with scap retraction my humerus seems more normal, but to rely on shoulder movement, am quite limited to close grip push ups and rows and barely any other upper body work. Also accompanied by humeral head migration forward and biceps long head irritation. Any idea on improving external rotation, except for posterior capsule release, and actural pec/lat release....as i cant even work my external rotators thru a full range..... Keep up the good work Doc! Subbed.
I would look prioritize training the long head of the bicep (secondary shoulder flexor) and rear delts. I had a very similar injury and these two in combination helped my progress dramatically
Thanks for this video! I think I have golfer's elbow in my right arm since 1 month, it could be for the mixed grip deadlift? the other arm is not affected (pronation).
That's often the case , but with supination comes a need to externally rotate the shoulder . Assess the ability to externally rotate left vs right and see if the right shoulder is deficient. +Miguel Segovia

Great video man, good to see some Doctors who lift. Can you please do a video on wrist pains and exercises that can fix the pain?

Whats your shoulder mobility like?

Michael Clarke Hey man! What bothers your shoulder the most ??

Hows external rotation of the involved shoulder?

Thank you, the problem is probably right shoulder, sometimes have problems with rotator cuff and I have pain.
