The similarities between what the media is portraying now with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmad Arbury in comparison with this should not be overlooked. This was a terrible tragedy, and it should always be remembered as such. But should the police killing innocent men and women also be treated as domestic terrorists? I think they should, because their motive, as we see it now, is to instill fear into the Black community and those who stand with them as people who deserve a different treatment than whites or anyone who sides with the BLM movement. Instead, the cops using and abusive their use of force or power should be the ones that are "terrorizing" normal, upstanding citizens standing up for what is right instead of bowing down to them because they passed some arbitrary test to "deserve" their power instead of earning it by their actions. There are good cops, but we have to start somewhere by getting rid of the bad ones.

Stephen Crane or maybe one would hope that by now one would realize that “politics” is the only it can change. That she’d understand that if she truly doesn’t want someone else to have to go through that, legislation is the only key. Staying stagnant and paying no mind to what the government does is the most surefire way to ensure that this shit happens over and over and over again. In the case of this guy (www.reviewjournal.com/crime/shootings/las-vegas-shooting-survivor-killed-in-california-bar-during-attack-1522422/) it can happen to the same person.

My friend shot up our school but it wasn't a mass murder he only killed two people before he took his own life, one of the people was an ex who cheated on him with a guy who bullied my friend. I was good friends with him and I was friends with his ex but I was mad at her for what she did at the time. The day before he did it he told me he was gonna shoot someone tomorrow but he said it in such a joking non serious way and he seemed perfectly fine too. No one would have suspected he was serious nor have reported it, the next day he shot her in the temple right in front of me then her boyfriend 3 times in the chest before aiming it back at himself and taking his own life. It all happened so fast, I still vividly remember the surreal feeling I got, the smell in the air that day. The exact conversation I was having word for word before blood splattered on my left arm and my right hand.
Something needs to change, and the first thing is mental health awareness. USA's mental healthcare system is a joke, I've had 2 friends come out from them worse than what they were when they went in and almost nothing is taken seriously until it's too late.

Great reaction, and hope you're still doing okay.
But just please don't dismiss the ending of the video as 'political'. I thought the same when I saw the 'vote' word, but it's very serious. Idk how much research you ended up doing on the shooter, but the way he obtained his weapons were all totally legal, and THAT'S the point of this track: to vote for some gun reform/control. Just because someone is mentally stable and has no criminal record doesn't mean they should have UNLIMITED weaponry. And the craziest thing is even after that shooting NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. This track is trying to make people realize that and make a difference so it doesn't happen again.

It's absolutely political. He wants political solutions to put restrictions on an amendment. I'm from Flint, MI, 45 min north of Em, so I've loved him since the late 90s, but I'm deeply opposed to his take, despite the brilliance of the song.

    • @vick7848

@@davidvaughn9 I agree, I guess I meant there's more to it than just politics regarding voting specifically. People just see 'vote' and somewhat dismiss what they've been presented bc they think it's pushing an agenda for personal gain. I was trying to avoid that.
But I agree his intention is to make political change. Tbh I'm not sure what his exact stance on it is but it's clear that he's pointing out that someone with no history of mental illness can purchase military grade weaponry capable of murdering dozens/hundreds, and then one day snap and use that arsenal; and this is what happens.

So I mean, it is a personal track to you, but it is also personal to Eminem. The parallels between his career, being addicted to pills and alcohol, him performing on stage is what this is supposed to represent, but the double meaning is that it's about the shooter as well. I'm not sure how long you've followed Em and his career, but he had a strong addiction to pills and alcohol before he got clean in 2009/2010. It's the tale of 2 sides, him trying to amp himself up with drugs to go out on stage and the shooter.
Also if you took away from it that "oh it's just political motivation" then sorry, you don't know what Em was trying to get across. And you should want to change something too, anything to help prevent more circumstances from happening. like.....kind of made it a little weird ya know?

It's crazy, almost like she is so uncomfortable to share her political opinion, that even after a horrible tragedy she is more afraid of being accused of wrong think. Em would have done more for his cause if he hadn't put that last part in imo. Imagine making such a masterpiece, with words crafted by the worlds best word smith, laid out in such a elegant fashion only to bluntly ruin it with a copy paste slogan that's so over politicized, (telling us what to think, and not how) it's lost it's sting long ago. I hate to go off on you, but in my opinion watching her show great emotional control is impressive and gets my respect. There is something sick about "survivors" making political statements. Doesn't matter which side of the isle their on it sickens my soul, even when I agree with them.

@@branon6565 this guy owned his weapons legally. Yes, gun control won't stop all evil, but it will reduce the amount of shootings and murder. It's just either stupid or shows a severe lack of empathy and care, to refuse something that will lead to less suffering and death, just because it won't stop all suffering and death. At that point, why do anything?

    • @MrSpardas
      @MrSpardas 4 роки тому +1

People who think gun control stop murders need to remember the bystander effect... It means that if you witness an awful atrocity in broad daylight and you're powerless to prevent it, said person assumes the some other hero will deal with it. But in a gun control zone nobody is empowered apart from the criminals, so the bystander effect applies to everyone, therefore the atrocities pile up and 5 ppl get killed by one person. Or a robbery goes wrong and the store owner is killed. And nobody in the store is carrying, so they can't stop the owner from being shot in front of their eyes. Wake up man the only thing that can stop gun crime is a time machine and killing the man who invented them. Unfortunately we can't do that so it is better off you just carry your own gun and join the pro rights instead of anti.. because anti only empowers criminals.

You never have to apologize for the amount of pauses and emotions you let out on here. You was there and you have a different type of emotion than most who wasn't there. Never stop speaking from the heart, its the most effective way to heal as much as possible. Not to mention that there are other people that was there and watch your reactions. Maybe somebody needs to hear a point of view from a person that was there and putting yourself out there may not be the easiest thing to do but the lives you touch could find healing in your words. Im an emotional person and one thing most people don't realize is that being an emotional person is hell hah it benefits others far more than it benefits us. We hold more hate in ourselves and we show. I realized God made me a certain way because the mental, spiritual and emotional battle we fight is extremely difficult and its so easy to want to change and become someone we're not, but there is always something inside of us that reminds us that its not us. One thing I learned is the Bible says God won't put more on us than we can bare, He never said that we couldn't add to it. The way we respond to a situation is key. Do we keep tripping on the stumbling blocks or turn them into stepping stones. Keep falling of climb higher.

This song is absolutely incredible. Loved it from the first time I heard it. It definitely touches on something that’s controversial. As someone who has A. Served in the Marines and has a combat tour and also lived in several states. Some where gun laws are the most strict and some where they are the most lenient I know this isn’t a black and white discussion. It’s a lot of grey area. Crazy/evil men shouldn’t have guns, but at the same time, good men/women should be able to have guns. Making guns illegal won’t stop criminals from owning them, we see that in New Jersey, LA, philly, Chicago etc. and we don’t wanna take away guns from good people while criminals still have them. BUT, at the same time we need to prevent crazy people with clean records from having guns. The problem is no one wants to compromise. The left doesn’t wanna don’t guns can be used for good and the right doesn’t want to admit that it’s too easy to get guns. Both can be true. There’s people like the vegas shooter who can hurt so many with a gun but there is also men like Steven Williford from Sutherland springs who stopped a mass shooter with his personal AR-15 when he heard gun shots coming from a church and ran there barefoot and then chased and killed the active shooter before he could go to the next 5 churches he had planned to shoot up.
I wish people would hear this song and think about it. It’s better to come together and discuss this issue and find a way where everyone wins rather than having too much pride and trying to just win for yourself.

It's hard, people are people and sometimes when they hit this point of no return, no one can see that because your actions are so destructive that they can't see what hurt led you to that because you ended up doing so much harm that that's all people can focus on, because that's also completely human. And like for someone like you who went through a thing like that, that no one can imagine until it's you, you know? It's hard, not like we can ask you to sit there and sympathize with this guy. But like he's part of the human condition, he's symptomatic of something within society and we can't fix it without understanding. He thinks he's doing the only thing he can do to express what he's going through, but all it does is obscure what he's going through and create more hurt. I sincerely wish we could all love each other and try to reach each other long before this happens. And of course my heart goes out to the victims first and foremost of shootings such as this, but my brain wants to understand what it is that drives this type of thing and how to gain meaning from it too. Thanks for your reaction, means a lot that you were willing to share it with us.
