      I wouldn't call Ms. Cash unsung however I do think she deserved more recognition for her artistic integrity and the consistently dignified way she presented herself both on and off the screen. I'm almost 55 and remember her well.
      She makes me yearn for a time that we (Blacks in my day. African Americans now) carried our artistry with pride. There were simply some stories we were not going to act out for their pleasure. No matter how many economic and publicity carrots were promised to us.
      In some ways she reminds me of Abbey Lincoln. She also used her artistry to advance the breadth and scope of blackness in her characters without pandering to mainstream Hollywood.

      Maybe you can push to get her biography done by Tyler Perry, Spike Lee. If you and your family have stories behind the scenes maybe you can get a writer to co- write a book about her. A legacy like hers needs to be cekebrated. Please give this prayerful consideration...
