I bought the cheapest F90 BMW M5 Competition i could find on the internet. The mechanic who sold it me said it wasn't worth repairing, but i thought id give it a go and repair some serious structural damage! After being successful i thought it might be easy from there, but i was wrong and now the expensive part starts!

It's so nice that step by step manufacturers are checking out your work and slowly they silently decide to support you. That is really really amazing.
Such recognition can be life-changing for many, as it can provide a platform for further growth, opportunities, and success. It can inspire others to continue working hard and pursuing their dreams, knowing that their efforts may also be recognized someday. This comment serves as a reminder that with dedication, perseverance, and skill, we can achieve great things.

lol its called advertising its taken over youtube !
It's so refreshing to see a UA-camr admitting his mistakes , this is why I absolutely love Mat.
Yes bc no one else on youtube ever admits they made a mistake... especially car youtubers...🙄
It's a strength, in many walks of life 👍👍👍
Loads of them do it. Hardly new.
Everyone makes mistakes. Good people share them to help their friends avoid the same fate.
It's only a mistake, if he was solely running an auto repair shop fixing an reselling crashed cars. The amount of money he is raking in from ads and sponsors by creating videos with the car will surely make it profitable.
Between always informing us about the costs of parts, the actual body work being done, and admitting when you made a mistake and immediately getting to fixing it is what makes you one of the most entertaining and educational youtubers out there. Look forward to every video
Absolutely tops.
Labor time/costs aren’t included though so it’s not the full picture. Labor is probably as much as the parts, if not more. He’s about the same cost of a non crashed car which would be a money loser without YT.
Honesty, transparency, a good attitude, great editing, lots of hard work, and some super cool cars.... That's a recipe for success if I've ever seen it
Hard-work will eventually pay at least with smiles & fun he will have while enjoy driving this fast 5 series..
18:01 hilarious friends too 😂
Ikr😂
Can't wait to see this finished. So much work, but so worth it.
Fancy seeing you here!
@@robbyfn this guy is in every car channel and comments on every video 😂

Sorry, I’m not buying products that are associated with Nestle. If you know what they are doing in 3rd world countries you’d choke on your meal replacements.
@@andreasweber7828 Ok. Don't then . ..... ? ?
On the plus side Mat, it’ll cost less to put back on the road than a flood damaged P1! 😊
Oh Tavarish... Poor guy lmao
😂😂😂 "Tavarish crying while reading this comment"
Mat also knows how to fix a car fast tavarish will take 3 years fixing that p1
@@damnitdave. facts
Tarvarish is insane for buying that car, hopefully he doesn't go bankrupt from it
Just started these in the last 2 weeks and it’s basically replaced tv for me. Binged through loads of your projects and just love the whole concept, attitude, content and delivery. Thank you so much for this mat.
You are the man...but sometimes we forget about the support team in the background! Look at Hannah mopping the floors....man she is just awesome!!😊❤
Matt you’ve been working ya ass off lately I’m a new subscriber about a month in but I’ve binge watched almost every video
Matt doesn't fill his videos with big long stories about a blinker bulb, he story tells and shows it as you want to see it without all the BS. More UA-camrs should take a leaf out of Matts book.
Same!!
Me too, up to the s3 build!
This has been one of the most interesting series you've done. I was pretty sceptical at first because of the damage, but I'm happy you went for it. Good job Mat.
same! it’s such a pretty car!
A M5 is the king of fully ICE cars with 4 doors 💪🏽. There’s nothing faster than it
i have to say Mat i do not usually buy endorsed products online but because your content is so real and you greet every mistake with a smile and learn from it i had to buy some, just keep it coming
I appreciate that!
You've perfected this format. I can say, honestly, your videos are the only ones I watch ALL the way through without skipping, or, pausing. I'm an auto repair geek and this is perfect for my brain.😜
The most I've ever been impressed by your skills is when you and your dad bent the frame back into factory spec, can't wait to see the final result of the M5 ❤
the most imoressive is that him and his dad rebuild a Lambo engine
It’s not what you do that interests me the most but it’s how you put it all together and honestly your vids can’t come quickly enough it’s an absolutely amazing channel and I can’t thank you enough
The amount of work put in this build is huge! And lays so much information for people deciding to face this kind of projects. Congrats!
By far one of my favourite series on UA-cam. It's so awesome to see you work with the people around you and also helps us learn about how to work on cars. Thanks for all that you do Mat! Can't wait to see this running in the streets!
these series are so fun to watch as you see the progress of the car and get to learn new things too
Let’s state the obvious. Oh you did.
One of my top 5 subscriptions!! Always a pleasure to watch you work, your videos contain knowledge where you can learn alot (your detail descriptions), funny and sometimes sad and shocking. I go through a whole mix of emotions when watching you Mr. Armstrong.
Mat it’s so great to see you bringing these cars back to life. Everyone makes mistakes it’s how you learn. I’m sure this M5 will look absolutely awesome by the time you have finished the build. Knowing you it won’t remain stock and I can’t wait to see the additions you end up adding. What a fantastic channel and I look forward to the next instalment of a day in the life of Mat Armstrong. You deserve all the recognition and subscriber levels you are achieving. So many other channels are trying to copy your model, but it’s your personality and tenaciousness that make you stand out above the rest. Keep up the great work 👍🇬🇧
It’s rare that videos keep my attention these days, your channel is an exception. Love your enthusiasm and work ethic. Looking forward to seeing the finished result. I’m hooked.
Matt you always make this work as if its simple 😢 you are good bro, keep up with the good work. Much love from Zambia 🇿🇲
Your experience at the end is why so many of these projects go up for sale…..one more leaky hose and the guy building it just throws his hands up and says enough is enough. Hats off to you for pursuing this start to FINISH!
Not only is this series entertaining, its informative, and exposes pricing tactics adopted by major car manufacturers, love it!
I really enjoy these videos and your knowledge, Mat. Thank you. Keep them coming please!!!
My favorite TV show ❤. When this build started I was thinking it would be one the best from Mat. But we then we got the 911. You are bringing us places. Cheers 🎉🎉
it’s amazed seeing your skills improve over the years from the audi tt and now to the porsche 992 gt3. amazing.
I'm really really new to this car rebuild you tube lot and am absolutely loving it. What has hugely impressed me is how well the on paper competing tubers work together and help each other. Matt, Tavarish, Schme (not a rebuilder but) are great guys even Whistlin who Is batshit crazy was genuinely touched Schme visited on a USA tour. Tav allowing his fellow tubers to visit and make content on his infamous flood rebuild says it all. I'm rooting for all of them to succeed.
thanks for bringing us along on your M5 journey plus, we're all learning stuff from it as you explain things in detail 👍
Great editing as usual. I almost forgot you had an M5 after watching most of your older videos. I sometimes skip the parts where you explain what happened to the car in the last episode because I just saw it. But it came in handy today, haha.
What a journey this has been....Mat is simply the GOAT of mechanics in this streets
I would really love to see the finished product. And I also really like how you go in blind and make mistakes. You content doesn't feel scripted. You're just a guy who's somewhat clueless and doing his best. Very inspiring.
Fantastic to see you found the mistakes and fixed them before it became a worse issue. Love this series. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.
Mat.. i think im not the only one who learned aloooot from your videos and this journey has been awesome.. keep it up mate
You are sooo entertaining. I love all the rebuild series, Matt. Thank you for all you do.
I’m a new subscriber to this channel and l have to admit I’m pretty addicted! I’ve always wanted to take on a project like repairing a damaged car but don’t have the space or time. Mat, you are the man and truly entertaining to watch, and I can’t wait to see how the M5 and more importantly the murcielago turn out when finished.
Thanks Mat - love sharing your journeys of discovery as you go through these restorations - your learning curve is aways steep - onwards and upwards...
Mat, your videos are so much fun to watch! Your story is a great testimony of perseverance and I truly wish you the very highest of success! You have a lifelong member of your channel!! Keep up the great work!!!
Mat I love what you do, man! You are living the dream of not just me, but many people who watch. You’re doing a great job! Keep it up!
Dude it's so nice to see you admit to mistakes and actually show them on video! You don't see much of that. It shows humility and honesty and helps other people from making such mistakes or atleast makes it easier to find them afterward! Love seeing your videos Mat! Keep at it! 💯
If it was my wish…. I would arrange that after finishing working on it, the M5 it’s shipped straight to South Africa 🇿🇦 at a reasonable price and lastly to own something that Mat has worked on.
Keep up the amazing work of giving this cars a second chance 😊😊😊🎉🎉
The coding of the headlight was such an interesting bit! Always cool so see some fresh techniques during repairs :)
one more reason that keeps me away from modern cars. they are insanely complicated.
Looking good Mat. Can’t wait to see it out on the road soon 👍🏻
I am seriously, genuinely excited to see each episode of Mats struggles. And that is something hard to do, as I am not particulary excitable. Also I am learning a lot from those videos which I put much value to.
You're one of the best UA-cam presenters, for showing your mistakes and corrections; men that's a bomb for me. You make presentation fun, I couldn't stop watching until I finished the series. you're absolutely great.
Inspiring as always👌🏿
I love how Matis checking the cost of the restoration like he's not going to give it away for 1 pound.
but that is the premise of the whole situation: whether or not it is worth recovering a car condemned by the insurance company.
Matt you are always smiling & laughing even when things ain’t totally going your way.
I don’t watch any other car menders on UA-cam just you & I’m so happy you’re making it.
You was working every hour possible buying a place to rent it out twice if i remember rightly?
Then Hanna crashes her car you go to mend it & documented it as well which brings you to where you are today well done you deserve it you truly do!
I hope you get to where you want to be & I see no reason why that shouldn’t happen & with Hanna in tow.
I also respect the way you’re always giving back that’s so refreshing & it humbles you it truly does.
Some of us didn’t make the right choices ending up disabled & I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me, I’ve had a good life & seeing so many different sides to it especially from abled to disabled & let me tell you this from someone who’s always on a London bus with me freedom pass they just stopped as they want evidence I still need it, we’ll some things you don’t recover from sadly.
The only thing I’m sad about is I lost my bestest friend in the world my pet Staffordshire bull terrier Tyson who died 16/10/22 after 14 years together.
He either circled your feet which ever one you lifted he bit or he wanted a foot w@^k so I said “STAFF” stood for Staff That As Foot Fetish.
Sorry for going on I’ve had the worst case of the runs & being disabled means you can’t run to the loo so I’ve messed up twice TMI! (Sorry)
I’ll end it there, once again all the best you have a pukka formula & attitude keep it all up!

My 2021 GX 460 didn't retract side windows when locking the car. I found out that you can make it happen with a little device sold online that needs to be installed under the steering wheel.
I'm no mechanic, buy thanks to you and your videos, showing that it's not rocket science disassembling and reassembling parts of a car interior, I got the courage to open up the bottom of the steering wheel, installed the device, closed it, and like a magic trick, it worked!!!
My 2021 GX 2021 now folds/unfolds exterior side windows when locking/unlocking 😂😅. I would have never even thought of giving something like that a shot if it wasn't for your great videos and hard work.
THANK YOU MAT!
Just bingewatched this playlist... Gobsmacked... Inspiring on so many levels... 🙏
Love the content may keep it up
You should check out the M5cs steering wheel. I have one for my M4 and it was one of the cheapest OEM options believe it or not. CHEERS!
Good work so far mate. Keep it up as I am really looking forward to seeing it finished. 👍
Great job Mr Armstrong..watching all the way from south africa ❤your work is truly amazing to watch..keep it up🫡
well done mat you deserve it
cant believe i started watching you in your garage with hannahs TT now your on 1.3 MILLION subs with a insane fleet of cars! all the hard work payed off huge congrats mat! you deserve it
Really cool series Mat- enjoyed watching it!
I appreciate the details in these videos... you know exactly what each part does and how much it costs
Because of you, now i allways try to fix my car, and oh man is it cheaper and way funnier!
That SUCKS having to redo the coolant pipe 😎 keep the great content coming bro
Thanks for the video!! Lots of respect for you and the team!! !
I was angry that this video wasn’t uploaded on time but still it’s worth the wait. Thanks Mat

I can relate brother, been waiting for this video badly AHHA
I'm angry you called him Max ...wtf? 🤣
Its been mental getting back from the US then straight onto the M5 but getting back into the rhythm now!

The BMW M5 is one of my favorite cars. This has made this project my favorite project of all the projects you've done. Thank you for your persistence despite all the challenges you're facing. I've learned a lot about one of my favorite cars😊
Looking good, another brilliant video, and you're gaining more knowledge, learning by your mistakes, the car is going to look amazing. Well done.
over the years a lot has changed, from you wrapping all cars to you going to the body shop. great content its not only the channel that's growing but your overall skills are just sky rocketing
Salute to your efforts and cool attitude.. all the best
Here from NYC. Been watching you for a bit. You are down to earth. Keep it up
That's great news with YFood Matt,
Because of you I've bought the taster packs and a couple of the big powder bags, I think they really are the best tasting (and texture) meal drinks out there. ❤👍
Hey Mat love your videos it doesn't matter that you are close to a non crash damaged car price it's the fact you have bought a car back from the dead its been fantastic and amazing that you have done this I get scared doing work on my 96 toyota you fill me with confidence to do my own work your are amazing to do this on a crash damaged Car of ANY make and model. You keep me inspired keep up the good work and excellent videos. All the best from New Zealand BTW Bob is my nom de plume.
Great work Matt - only a couple of set-backs after all that effort is a miracle in itself. Well done - keep the momentum going!!! And thanks!!
Recent rebuilt front end of the new A-class and experienced same scenario with Pedestrian sensor and bonnet actuators. Bent the hinges and bonnet and around 5 sensors to be replaced behind Crash bar. Learnt alot from it.
Long time subscriber and on my 4th rebuild, loving the channel from day one.
Extraordinary work Mat, your analytical ability is mesmerising.
Really loved this video series. Waiting for how the M5 looks after installing last parts of the car.
Kudos to you for the professional and open way you rebuilt this car. Has been fun to watch. Part 7 coming?
Absolutely love the channel and builds, for future reference as I work in the industry when putting a front end on put the bonnet on first and line it up then the wings/headlights etc, keep up the good work
Wow you make good videos, explaining a lot of questions i had about BMW, The Pressure sensors with the pneumatic line was interesting. :D
Amazing video with great step by step guides. Also fair play to you for being so honest by saying I'm not a mechanic and make mistakes....we all do!
Dying to see the next part, surely it's driving about after that and will be satisfying to see it up and running especially after that intense structural repair. And those mods looked so good too.
8:55 This works on pressure difference. Like the underside of a overhead door for collision protection. If it senses a change in pressure, the switch is activated.
Loving this build...Great video as always Mat
I love your videos. You have such a never die attitude and great outlook on when things don’t go to plan. Keep up the hard work. Please restore an older classic next 😀
Mat you are the best youtube i found by youtube recommendations literally i watched mostly all for you videos and i cant wait to get this m5 get done
Have waited patiently for this one Matt. Thank you for the content...Super excited to see the finished project 👏👏👏👏
I first watched one of your videos about 2 weeks back, which came as a suggestion, after watching another one by you, I knew I had to subscribe for more, you got me hooked to your videos in no time. Awesome Job Mat. Cheers!!!
Your smashing it dude! Loving the content, your channel is essentially the only reason I go on UA-cam. 😊
I like that you are trying to keep the cost low. This is what keeps me watching. Reminds me of wheeler dealers
I’ve spent my entire morning hours in Africa to watch all videos on this BMW M5 just because I’m a great fan of repairs and engineering. Well someday might just be good for me
This is a terrific project. Sweet car. Fascinating work. Good value. Neat upgrades. Oddly enough I have BMW now. Electric 😊
Hi Matt, I've always been a car nut working on them as a hobby etc I've tried many a time to get my 13yo son into it as well with no success, until I introduced him to your channel now he wants to buy his own car (from copart) that he can rebuild and use as his first car.. and not forgetting the Matt mods along the way air filter exhaust etc.. so thank you not saying we will be able to do the level that your doing with your dad but looking forward to it..
Defined coding are great, enabled car play on my m140i and also coded out a tpms error on my next door neighbours M3. So talented!
the sheer determination into this project is sky high! Love it!
Absolutely class videos every time. Keep up the great work Matt & Team.
Can’t wait for the next video on the M5 competition. Keep the good work up😊
I was the one that came up with the idea for the pedestrian sensor by using a tube and two crash pressure sensors. The sensors are similar to the pressure sensors that are used in the door cavities. I worked with designing and manufacturing airbag systems for 30 years. The hood pops up to give a cushion to the person that lands on the hood as the hood deforms. There are two types of crash sensors (pressure and acceleration) that give input to the airbag module.
The hose is pretty smart. Instead of having 100 sensor on the front you use a hose and 2 sensors.
Part 7 please brother 🙏😭😭😭i really love watching you rebuild the M5 ❤️
Been waiting for this 🥰and I wasn't disappointed. I know this isn't the cheapest saving build or the flashes car but have to say it's been my fav so far. Can't wait for the next vid and thanks Mat and the crew.
i just saw the first video in my feed and ended up watching the whole series from part 1 to part 6 and being crazy finding part 7. LOL and telling my self later i guess the part 7 isnt yet published. it ended me to subscribed and and hitted that bell button. cant wait to see that next video!
