I lived in Kazakhstan one year and 2 years in Kirghdtan when it was soviet Union and I can guaranty you that it was just as the Amercan history of racism evolution before the Jimmy crow laws, the African students were not allowed to get legally enrolled with the young soviet women if they were that woman was considered a prostitute and registered under the 108 clause of the law of prostitution , they used to be called insultivelly "stovocimiprka" which means 108th in russian referimg to the law clause, in those republics where I lived the local people were often in the years 87 88 and 89 conducting rebelions against foreigners, this including Russians, they used to call them "bunt"! My instructors at the academy used to say that because of wisdom that Angolan had,they would definitely defect to the western countries. If this is true, and the benefits are there, why is it a problem? Also, how is it different from black fighting in the US/Canadian/British or any other Western military? In the US, if a foreign national serves in the military, they’re not guaranteed citizenship, did you know that? The USSR/Russians bled in Africa (Congo/Zimbabwe/South Africa/e.g.,) to train and fight alongside Africans who were fighting against their colonial masters. What about current Russia suggests they do not deserve African respect and perhaps even support?

I lived in Russia for 6 years. The racism I experienced was mostly from Turks, or people from Arab related countries. But the rest was just like anywhere else. You will get Russians that will help you, and you will get the ones that won't help you.
Russians are a special people, and we (Africans) share a lot in common with them when it comes to hardships and so on, what a black person will highly likely experience is that they will look at you as soft, westernised, out of touch with reality and thinking everything should be easy or be handed to you, but once they see that you are about the struggle, the hard work, the discipline and holding up values, a stand up person, they will be with you for life.
Just like anywhere else, you act right, you will be treated right. Russia taught me the true value of friendship, family, relationships and respect for one another. More than I can say for some other countries.

I don't have problems with them, but I prefer to travel to countries with a recognized presence of folks with Afro pronounced features and Dark Brown countries that never colonized Africa.
Russia has never colonized Africa, in fact, the USSR was a large part of how many African nations and Latin American nations decolonized.
Edit: I’m black, my brother lives in Russia, Moscow first now St. Petersburg. That’s not to say that there aren’t issues for blacks, pretty much all non black nations have anti-black sentiments towards us. But systemic racism is what I think matters most.
