for the overhead filter setup we asians replace the media like every 2-3 years or even yearly even, not all at once but in batches like lets say the first 2 column for the bacteria to build back up which explains why the guy in the video has some clean looking media, and some organic debris filled ones, one reason why we prefer that is because it massively increases water volume, which translates to better stability of water parameters. And ofcourse we won't need to worry about aerating the tank with more airstones as water falls down hitting the tank's water surface so aeration is already partially done by the filter (in the case where the outlet of filter is above water surface)

It's nuts because I remember the first time I saw Kevin's set up from Stingray Biology he's facility was incredible. The biggest Ray's I'd ever seen the biggest Datnoid I'd ever seen. It made me so envious, now he feels the same about somewhere else. Why did he ever shut it all down and move?
Only thing I can say is wow they are amazing. You guys need to get some tanks in your facility like that. Perfect sizes for your monster, fish and stingrays

The first sting rays you showed in the beginning has the markings and the spots that look like Jack from "Nightmare Before Christmas"
The grey pups with black rings around the white were awesome but I love the ones with big white spots and lacing of black in between

How do they deal with the barbs with that many rays in a tank?
I believe what was mentioned is actually a good strategy to actually get a pair instead of pups for many reasons.
Feyaai !! Said if he gets pups you still have to wait to produces tops 10 years which is accurate!!
Basically if it was me i would avoid pups and get a pair . Yes it's probably extremely more expensive, but you're buying something that you cant with pups that is TIME !!
Even if its 100k for a pair think about the turnaround in a year you'll make your investment back plus profit. I dont think buying pups is a good bussines plan its actually no point to waste time money and energy on something that will take years to develop.
At the end of the day time is money I rather pay upfront big knowing I would get my money back in less then a year instead of something sitting there not making me profit.
