I like the truth, right on I just bought a 530xi 2007 122,000 mi inline 6 I'm getting the tune up and stuff done and I'm a diesel mechanic but I'm it's a blessing I'm very grateful to have it and I don't plan on hot rod and stuff it is a very fast car but I'm glad to know that the things that I do need to know about it but so far it's I love it it's very it's a blessing from God and I'm grateful to have it
I agree that the lack of a dipstick is nuts, but I''ve found that I can get plenty of information on the oil by simply opening the oil filter unit up and inspecting the filter and oil. Look, owning a BMW comes down to being willing to educate yourself to doing most repairs by yourself. If you think you're going to take it to a dealer or a mechanic ever time you have a problem, don't buy one.
Love the reviews wish you would do the 04 thru 08 f150 I bet that one would crack me up. Every shop in the country has at least 1. 3 valve 5.4 laying in the grass
Never had the misfortune of owning or working on one. Bout the only thing I know for sure is the cam phaser and spark plug issues that plague all of the 3V engines.
I’m looking at a 2007 530i m sport with 105k miles for 6500usd. It has full log book history and is in mint condition. What should I look out for and do you think that’s a good buy. Loved the review. It’s nice to see one that isn’t sponsored by the manufacturer. Haha. Keep up the great work. Funny and informative is a great combination. Cheers from Australia. 👍
Low miles, clean, and service history are all really good signs. Just check for oil leaks and make sure the electronics work properly, make sure it's shifting good. I would call it a good deal. Glad you enjoyed.
What about a 2010 BMW 528i? I def dont like the no oil stick thing. Im driving between vegas, utah arizona, and twice my 2001 Honda Civic just stopped running, as I climbed up a hill, didn't realize oil had gone down a quart from strain on engine I guess, which got real hot, even the shifter thing was real hot. Fortunately had some in the trunk, and it soldiered on. Sounds like this would be a worry?
The dipstick is most definitely annoying, but if you're checking the oil regularly, it should be fine. Any modern DOHC engine will use a quart of oil every 3K miles. If you're going with the BMW, my advice is as always, stick with the manual transmission if you can. Also set aside some cash for repairs that will happen eventually.
Thinking of buying 535 2010. Very low mileage 30k garage kept , but after doing research I can’t pull the trigger. Costly services. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
30K miles is likely going to be safe. What I talk about is your typical 100K+ mile craigslist examples. Repairs will be costly down the road, but you're not likely to see them for another 70K miles.
jayden pena Hey there! The car is good but due to age I have to drive it like a normal person😆 I hope its got a few years left. We’ll see how it goes from here.
They're pretty good cars. Every BMW is going to have oil leaks, and an eventual coolant leak, but as far as major problems go, they're few and far between. The automatics do have some issues, so check for slipping, but it's not something I would be overly concerned about.
these engines typically dont have piston ring issues til high mileage like 3 or 400k. the 3.0l gas is a pretty much bulletproof motor and comparable to the 2jz lmao. idk wtf u mean by money pit. timing chain guides are solid, n52 can handle 600hp easy, the top emd is quiet, they hold lots of oil about 6l and the oil light sensor comes on at about 2l low so not bad at all. also there is a temp guage lol, u just dont know how to find it
I don't care if they rarely have ring issues or if the engine is bullet proof, and I don't care if the oil sensor lights comes on soon, a dipstick is non negotiable. Unless BMW is prepared to warranty that engine for life against oil starvation, it should come with a damned dipstick. Yeah, I said the NA 3.0L is a great engine outside of the oil leaks, it's the turbo that's the unreliable pile. If you have to find the temp gauge, it's in the wrong location. Put the glorified vacuum gauge in the hidden spot and give me the information that's actually useful front and center.
I know, it's absolutely ridiculous. I thought the sensor was broken when I first tried to check it, then I did some research and found it can take up to 5 minutes. Compare that to 15 seconds on a normal car.
@@316Autos after like a hour of driving it I hear a noise in the fuel tank like a whining noise then the car shuts off and wont start I have to let it cool before it can turn on
