The Yardbirds came to my city Dallas, Texas in October 1966. I was 18 years old and went into Memorial Auditorium where most of the seats were taken. Because I was nicely dressed with heels on began thinking ; I got creative and told the head policeman near the stage in a very practiced English accent that Jeff Beck was my husband and if I didn't stand next to the stage where he could see me, Jeff would get stage fright, walk off and leave. So the head policeman let me stand by the stage and Jeff Beck played his guitar to me. We flirted with each other through the entire concert. The entire band kept looking over at me trying to figure out why this lone girl was standing so close to the stage. This is one of my best memories of my youth. Wonderful concert. Will love the Yardbirds forever. ♥️

The Yardbirds were the 1960s most-visionary band - and in their re-imagined version - Led Zeppelin, the vision continued into the '70s. They showcased the guitar prowess of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page - and were an adventure in mucic experimentation, the likes of which we may never witness again.

After that it went downhill with the music. There are of course exceptions. Now I'm 51 and still like to listen to the music from these times.

    Sick at heart and lonely
    Deep in dark despair
    Thinking one thought only
"Where is she, tell me where?"
And if she says to you
    She don't love me
    Just give her my message
    Tell her of my plea
    And I know
Well, if she had me back again
Oh, I would never make her sad
I've got a heart full of soul
    And I know
If she had me back again
Oh, I would never make her sad
I've got a heart full of soul
She's been gone such a long time
    Longer than I can bear
But if she says she wants me
Tell her that I'll be there
And if she says to you
    She don't love me
    Just give her my message
    Tell her of my plea

Yardbirds, The Who, Kinks, Beatles, Stones , Moody Blues, Beach Boys, Tremeloes, Small Faces The Searchers, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Velvet Underground, and there are many more to mention. It was hard to find anything bad and even groups for our parents still had an enduring quality which is lacking in today's Music - The Seekers, Tom Jones, and even The Spinners were entertaining in their own way for a certain audience.
Yes Oscar, we were definately spoiled back then. When I taught Music in secondary school there were lots of kids who were Sixties Fans so there is discernment among some of the youngsters.
