I just finished another unbearably painful PT session , due to a rotator cuff surgery and am delighted to see another bumbling and waffling video. Windvane broke , lash the tiller arm? Improvisation and humor is your biggest ally. You just gotta embrace the absurdity of life because it's not going to go away. We're rooting for you here and hoping your channel will grow into a monster like Uma or Parlay. I want to see you live the dream.
Keep the three hour tour going.

It might seem like you are constantly struggling and getting nowhere with everything going wrong and stuff breaking but it's still very early days and in time it will get easier, I promise you !
People with experience make it seem so easy and are always prepared for the worst but it took them time to get to that position too, nobody does it overnight, stick with it Terry and don't let things get you down, you are far more capable than you know ! 👍

Have a look at 'Sheet to Tiller' steering.
For the sake of a couple of bungies, a cleat or two and some rope, it might be just enough to get you out of a pickle in those instances when all your gear fails.

What you have is a wind trim wind vane,(does it have a small rudder attached to the rear of the first rudder?) Disconnect it when not in use it will want to turn you the wrong way, Tie or Fix the rudder to the middle when you are facing in the correct heading then ,,,place the wind trim facing the wind, You will need this to sail big passages!

Sounds like a sea breeze. On sunny days the wind near the coast will often switch to onshore by lunchtime ish if the meteo wind isn’t too strong. If the meteo wind is onshore then the sea breeze will make it windier near the shore. It’s useful to know if you are coastal sailing as you can often use it to your advantage.

There’s nothing more important than being practically able to sail. As a single hander that means you must have some means of the boat sailing itself. Windvane gives you course control relative to the wind, autohelm gives you course control to a compass heading - it’s not lazy - it’s what you need to get it done …
