- Few drivers have been notoriously slow as Inoue was. Apart from Al Pease and yourself. But, what exactly happened to this guy, and why was his career so unbelievably chaotic?

Here is the difference between Taki Inoue and Yuji Ide, Taki Inoue got hit by the ambulance, Yuji Ide was the one driving the ambulance.
Taki Inoue got hit twice, Monaco.
Ide was a driver in a 2003 Arrows massaged to hell in a 107% rule formula. He was bad , but not Noda terrible

Takuma Sato and Kamui Kobayashi are probably two of the most successful drivers to come from Japan, since Sato won an Indianapolis 500 and Kobayashi won a 24 hours of Le Mans
Takuma won a second 500 and Kamui won an IMSA Title I believe.
Lance Stroll is an Ayrton Senna compared to this guy. We all know Stroll is a paid-seat driver, but at least he is a pretty safe driver, doesn't causes more accidents than what is acceptable, and his performance is not the best, but not awful as well.
Mauricio Landos It’s really just a running gag on this channel, as it’s semi-satirical (spoiler alert). I like Stroll, but he’s not performing to a good enough degree by F1 standards and a lot of the F1 fan base despise him due to the pay driver stigma. I meet him here in New Zealand for the TRS. He’s definitely isn’t a bad driver, that’s for sure. But, he’s got a bit of work to do, qualifying-wise.
I like Stroll and if he weren’t a paid driver, he’d be one of my favorites (especially since he uses my lucky number woop woop)

Paid seat drivers are a tradition in Fórmula 1. It isn't bad at all.

Wait a min, how can Lance Stroll be as bad as Taki Inoue if he's not actually bad? Not fastest in qualifying but most of the time consistent in the race.
It's really just a satirical play on opinion around him. He does legitimately need to sort his qualifying out, though. Race-wise, he's arguably on par with Checo.
Alan formula1 true but it’s not like Stroll is slacking, F1 is an extremely intensive sport. Not any rich boi can walk in and actually do decent in races, ehrm Taki.

No one can stand that "my rich daddy bought me a whole team" smug face on that bastard. I honestly can't stand him. There are people as rich as him on the current grid and who are ten times nicer to interact.
He is probably the worst of the current grid. Grosjean gives him a good run though and it was funny watching Palmer's recap of Germany watching Stroll take a corner then Bottas takes it and Bottas spins by being just a millimeter off. Really Stroll has circuits he's really good on, equal or in rare cases surpassing Checo, it's just that his flaws and weak moments REALLY stand out. In addition to the fact that there is no way in hell he'd even be in F1 if he didn't completely buy his way in. Pay driver is one thing and yes it's a rich man's sport right up to 'bloodlines' having of value. Still having your father OWN the team? That's a new level. So really people will find more reasons to hate him then he probably deserves.
On the other hand, if Stroll didn't buy the team, Force India/Racing Point may not have been on the grid at all so... there's that.
You can say what you want about this guy, but he seems like a chill dude to hang out with lmao

One of the worst in my view....was Gaston Mazzacane. He only got a drive with minardi in 2000 because he was sponsored by PSN which was some bank thing or something like that. He takes that sponsor money to Prost the next season and after 4 races is sacked because he was awful.
At minardi Marc Gene had the beating of him but they were a back of the grid team. Prost in 2001 had a reasonably alright car and Jean alesi would destroy him
Yeah, it was pretty painful to watch him drive at times.

PSN (Pan-American Sports Network) was a large TV network, broadcasting all over Latin America; they also held TV rights for F1 in that area
At one point during the 2000 u.s gp he was leading or second due to strategy

Taki Inoue was incredibly unlucky. I mean, it would be a big moment in anyone's F1 career getting hit by the Safety Car. Inoue got hit by the Safety Car and run over by the medical car. Back in his early career in the British Formula Ford championship he came so close to scoring very good results, but just plain ran out of luck. He got taken out by other drivers, had bits fall off the car, and, once, he was leading a race by a country mile in the last few laps, and his gearbox broke. That's something that NEVER happened in Formula Ford cars. Whilst he was right, he wasn't good enough for F1, he earned better results in other series that he never got. As a famous driver once said: "I'd rather be lucky than good any day..." Taki wasn't lucky, but he certainly wasn't talent-free...

I can add another thing that Sospiri had over Taki. 1997, and Sospiri was on the front row of the grid for the Indianapolis 500.
In his first year. In his first race in Indycar. He finished 17th, after a lot of car troubles, but that beats Taki by a long way in every way.

A few years ago, me and another two friends of mine were able to interview him, to "Motordrome", a website that no longer exists. What I fixed it on that interview was his first race, in Suzuka, where he told me that the rain wad so thick he couldn't see anything for a while. And they still raced!

Great video. Please do a WTF happened to Mark Blundell. He may have been leagues above Inoue in talent but he raced in the British Touring Car Championship last year. No idea what hes been up to between them and his F1 daya

Stroll's not that bad tbh. He at least won F3 (even though there's no real competitor there i think) but that itself shows that he can drive.
Compared to now confirmed Latifi, who is on F2 for like 4/5 season.... And never got the championship even once.
I like Lance. I just think his qualifying just really let's him down. But, Italian F4 champ, TRS champ, F3 champ and F1 podium-getter. He certainly isn't a bad driver. But, like Maldonado, he just seems an easy target.

@@kami_narisama Yeah Stroll isnt the worst driver. He is not good enough for Formula 1 but he has some quality. Stroll is actually much better as Guiterrez or Luca Badoer, Mehri or Stevens... Some of the worst drivers since 2009
Well I mean he did race against George Russell in F3 so I guess that could be considered competition, even though in 2016 they weren't on the same level at all (507 points for Stroll vs 264 for Russell) (actually there is an argument there to be made that Stroll could have become a very good F1 driver had he gone to F2 instead of F1 in 2017)
Latifi isn’t even bad, he won 4 races last year, competing for the title and beat his teammate in the standings
I just remembered my old favourite driver: Ukyo Katayama, I think his name was. Famous for looking in the opposite direction when cornering :)

If you take a closer look at the point Taki gets hit by the safety car the steward next to him seems to pushing him against the car with his right hand/shoulder.
One of the challenges to Taki Inoue's self-depricatary claim to be the worst driver in F1 history, there are certainly a few challengers to that title, like Giovanna Amati for example. 3 entries with Brabham in 1992, 3 failures to qualify and was also slowest in all 3 attempts, by some margin. From Spain, she was replaced by a certain Damon Hill
among other things...

Fun fact: Morbidelli spun and retired from the Japanese GP on lap one, but Murray Walker immediately assumed that it was Inoue who’d spun, and doubled down on that claim later-even though the TV graphics correctly identified the spun car as Morbidelli.
Inoue finished the race! … he was the last finisher, two laps down. Frankly, it’s a miracle he didn’t spin off the way Hill and Coulthard did.
