Still watching and enjoying this in August 2024. At the end when the band is playing, I loved how they interspersed some of the Navy Fight Song in it. Proud 1972 grad.
I’ve been watching this for over 8 years and it still makes me dance in my seat 😊. Brings back great memories of a beautiful town for a former Midshipman’s Mom. This is my favorite video EVER.
I never get tired of watching this. It's so fun and puts me in a good mood every time! Love the brass overlay of "Anchors Away" near the end - that was inspired musicianship! Living near Annapolis I get to see all the young midshipmen strolling around town in their spiffy white uniforms - and it just swells the heart of this former navy wife with pride when I see them! They are a such a credit to their nation!
My Blessed Stepfather was CG during WWII loved the academies especially those who sailed the 7 seas. He didn’t get his GED till in his 30s. He was a Panama Canal Pilot so proficient that shipping companies would ask for him by name. And if he was off, they would say, we will wait for Captain Junius(his first name) My Stepfather was so smart he wrote papers for the academies that today 40 plus years later are being used! And to think, he only finished the 7th grade!
@ArthurianLegend335Thanks for correcting him! You beat me to it! My Dad was a 25-year vet at NWS Earle in Jersey. I used to live in Pensacola and I miss Fleet Week! Now living in Seattle and we have a huge Navy presence up here too!! And the first four words you learn at Annapolis are... "GO NAVY BEAT ARMY"!!!😎

As an 'Almost Zoomie' (USAF Academy selectee) from 40+ years before this vid, all I have to say is 'Well Done, Squids!' Great presentation, and Stay True...
+Bob Scott Thank you Sir, for your service. So nice to see our amazing Naval personnel have some fun! I am so proud of our US Navy, who work so hard, are so humble, and do it all for love of Country. BRAVO ZULU!
Awesome, Well done Mids. Thanks to the great town of Annapolis for encouraging and allowing this wonderful video to be filmed downtown. What a wonderful way to promote both the Great Town of Annapolis and USNA.
Here's to Bruno Mars contacting you guys (and ladies, from here on, "guys" will be used in unisex connotation ol) with a big fat hell yeah lol. That was pretty awesome guys. Thank you for your service, and always enjoy your free time. You've earned it!
Even if I weren't a Navy widow (hubby was a carrier-based fighter pilot) I would still think this is a FABULOUS video! FANTASTIC choreography. Great singing. Wonderful editing. Fabulous lyrics. TERRIFIC EVERYTHING!!! I can't stop watching it LOL.
For 3 decades I worked in Baltimore TV. This is very high level, the music is excellent and the camaraderie is inspiring. Middies are portrayed as fun, real people who are clean living and honorable on their leave day. I give only kudos! excellent. Old fogies don't complain.
I am a New Zealander and I love watching the American armed forces (Army, Navy and Air force) bring out such wonderful musical talent like this. And many more previous ones. Be nice if some of your armed forces came to New Zealand and performed like that (with approval from powers to be of course). Be good if they sold tickets or took donations and gave the profits for the returned services.
My husband lived in Annapolis all of his life and I am so happy that I was able to join him there! Our daughter married one of these handsome men and they married in their beautiful Chapel! LOVE Annapolis and the USNA! THANK YOU for this GREAT Video!!!! TERRIFIC!!!
Annapolis is NAVY Town. My uncle graduated from the Naval Academy and retired as a Rear Admiral. I kinda sorta followed in his footsteps, joining the Navy in 1988 and retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 2015.
What great fun! Thank you for letting me see how much the United States Navy has changed since I was stationed in Annapolis. I'm so old that I just figured out Naptown means Annapolis. Great performances. Great production.
It's all midshipman-run," Tuohy, 22, told Navy Times in a Nov. 3 phone interview. "Every single person in front of and behind the camera was a midshipman, and our budget was a whopping $0."
+yourbuddykevin The taxpayers pay for midshipmen to board and study at the Naval Academy. What they do on their free time adds no additional burden beyond what the average government worker gets for paid time off. And all the equipment required to film, record and edit this video was easily a matter of someone in the group either possessing or having friends that possess it. You're talking about the average group of middle-class millenniels with social media-savvy and connections here, not the fossils like us that became drinking adults before the dawn of Facebook.
So who pays for the Government Vehicle or better yet the gas that goes in it? The tax payer. As a retired Marine these are horrible future leaders of our military as they are breaking government and navy rules regarding the vehicle.
I grew up in a Military School City and I live in one now too. Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, and Space X. You’d be surprised at the prestigious Military Jobs. Engineers, Captains, Pilots (Carriers). You just don’t know what these Branches are capable of. Thank you Jesus Christ for my Military Service Forces. 💜🙏🇺🇸
I love these spirit spots and this one is right up there with the best. Great job representing USNA, Maryland Ave and Annapolis. You make us proud. Go Navy!!!
+LowEarthOrbitPilot How very true! I'm so sorry that I neglected to notice that there were talented young women in that video, also. It's not that I'm anti women in our military. It's that I'm elderly and don't see as well any more. God bless all our young men and women serving in our military today. And I thank them for their service. And thank you for bringing this to my attention.
+Karen Latino: No worries [I giggled when I saw your post, because I had a feeling that was the case] :) ! They all did a great job! Great to see such wonderful support for all of our dedicated service members. God bless you, too :) !
As an Old and getting older one time Air force NCO thanks for supporting those kids and our people in harms way. yes I admire the young ladies who serve and I worked with them for some years their contributions are great for many reasons as are their Sacrifices . I kind of choke up about those young troops of every service I pray for them
I think it's wonderful and love it! There is nothing like being in Annapolis and the Midshipmen coming through town, males and females, looking fabulous in those Whites. I laughed at the Zoomies line, my husband is retired Air Force and that's the first time I ever heard that term! I also like how they call out San Diego, Norfolk and Chicago. Great job!
Hey, you old fogies out there who express hate for this fun and contemporary take on midshipman life, get a life! I am a USNA grad and retired career officer, and I remember how the old folks used to disparage us when we blasted "I gotta get out of this place" out over T-court at lunch time with our huge speakers or how our morals and behavior were generally looked down on by the oldsters. Seems we came through the whole ordeal with honor, and I expect these young folks will too - SO BACK OFF!
+Salty Dawg Excuse me...who expressed hate for this? Perhaps you could provide us with links to those expressions of hate.I won't hold my breath.Who is it, exactly that has to "back off"? I'm also a grad, and all I've seen are plaudits. Ok, we get it,you are even "cooler " than the rest of us. Hopefully it made you feel better to make attributions that you created out of thin air. this was a treat for me and my husband. We had our first dates on those streets... and I am so glad they got rid of those silly caps for the women.....still married 30 years on and Annapolis was the best town for dating.
🤩☺US Navy mid-shipmen and women are incredible warriors who are defending our nation RIGHT NOW!!! These sailors are American heroes defending FREEDOM on the HIGH SEA!!! Brillant combatants that are being tested in the Red Sea shooting gallery! They are in HARM's WAY and need our continued PRAYERS!!! SUPORT OUR NAVY!!! 🤩
This is AWESOME! I watch it over and over. I hope the other cities take them up on the challenge. The Zoomies should too! Nothing derogatory at all -- shows how proud they are of the uniform they wear. Love it. Go Navy!

Having benn accused of being a former " Yard Engine" ( I was Not!), I am always amazed and impressed with the Talent, Creativity and Ingenuity Of the Middies! Go Navy!
The first time I saw this it was late at night and I had just finished my homework... when I recognized one of the midshipmen from our home time. Always a favorite to watch now.
Yes they have advanced equipment of that sort at Annapolis, some of these Mids will be working with it after graduation so they learn about it there. When you look at a service Academy degree it is one of the best Engineering degrees on earth these people will work on the cutting edge of tech applications in their Naval career
+kffej101 "Margo": she's the Brigade Commander - the First Class (senior) Midshipman selected each semester as leader of all 4,000 other Mids. Which makes the whole thing even better!
