Your commitment to quality , professional work is an inspiration , in this day & age. When previous shops turn out JUNK , like you are showing on this '59.
Keep your quality content & videos coming.

That's so sad to see. I'm trying to learn body work. It's very hard to find good videos that you can see quality work being done and learn from it. I started with Kevin Tezt and bought his Paintucation DVDs and have watched all of Bay One Customs videos. I wish TC would put out more videos, I learned so much from them. Hopefully I've found another source of great work I can learn from. Thanks for spending your time making these videos, I truly appreciate it.

I’m going to have to follow this! When I did my car, I made sure the metal work was completely welded. I couldn’t imagine letting it out the door like this ‘59!

Yeah it’s pretty sad some peoples so-called craftsmanship. This car ended up going into a legal dispute with the previous shop and we no longer have it. We are doing a ground up restoration on a 61 impala that we will be showing every step of the process though.

When we have the car body mounted in the BBQ rack, it's time to reinforce the cabin, floor, doors, pillars, panels, fenders and hardtop to today's safety standards. After all metal work is reinforced to protect the driver and passengers in a crash or rollover (the crash cannot penetrate the cabin), we continue the rest of body/ chassis reassembly. Two mechanical custom changes will improve the safety: 1. Substitute the straight steering column with a modern crash absorbing steering system. 2. Install modern disc power brakes on all four wheels. 3. Finishing touch: install seat belts and air bags. Result: Five star safety equipped classic with tougher structure and durability. New classic car show category: Safety Customized classic. It will be more expensive but the superior classic will be safely driven for thousands of extra miles. Thanks

@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS Yeah really...SMH. And you know how 🔥 HOT filler gets as it's curing to dry especially with thicker ( too thick/crazy excess) applications. Even with the thicker 1959 era steel etc., it wouldn't surprise me IF they warped TH outta the exterior body panels in such areas (especially that rear right 1/4 top panel) where it was stupid THICK.... Just ANOTHER previous "negative" car restoration story that yet, again? Makes it so difficult for the guys that DO quality work and trying to make a buck that much more harder to survive in this "last of an ancient breed" work of art.

There are very few vehicles that have not had serious bugger repairs done to them over the last 55-60 years of what? Fender benders, wet shoes dripping on carpet with 1/2” jute holding that moisture for seasons & temperature changes. And our old friend salt! Ice in Dallas / Fort Worth, yes. Been there as the local tv station set up a camera on a tripod, pointed to a busy intersection and got 18 wrecks in 30 minutes on empty streets. Like they said, the county has 1 road-grader and no sand or salt trucks!
So 55-60 years of hidden damage!
I ask, which manufacture started dunking cars into an electrostatic bath and what liquid was in there? At a surprising number of 70’s classic GM’s had galvanized panels, A-pillars and rockers. When did they do this and what did they use? What was common body shop practices back then? Stick welder and lead! Hey buddy, can you spare some Tallow?

@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS I have checked online plus asked ex-ACDelco + GM guys. Many are family jobs as dad got his 18 yr old son a job sweeping. Now, decades of rising thru the ranks, can’t find out and his dad doesn’t remember when he knew dunking started, but remembers the galvanized “A” pillars and rockers especially on convertible cars. Over 42 years his dad worked in three assembly plants until he was required to retire. I have seen videos of galvanized components on GTO, Chevelles, Cameros all mostly 70’s era. It is an interesting question that the facts maybe lost to time.
Travis, you are the first I can find to show panel fitment held with filler to make a “Single Unit” stressing metal work first. This to many who restore vehicles to me forces the brain to look at the entire car, while working the panel, build coat, filler coat, guide coat to paint ready as all defects are revealed and fixed using best practices as each issue is different. It is as simple as learning to learn to dance, ending in a waltz. I know I will never look at the restorations process the same way again! Thanks, I enjoyed it very much!

My Lord 😲....The amount of money that guy has got in that car between ALL the other shops and now? Only to be told that it ALL basically needs redone IF he wants it "right". 🤦‍♀️ ALL I can say is he must have one hell of a job to just throw ALL that money into that ol car, and THEN? To turn around and do it ALL AGAIN.......Jeez. And then lotta people wonder "why those 58-61 ragtops are sooo expensive to buy." Just better hope that the $125-$150,000k one that a person DOES buy at the auction or wherever does NOT have a underlining foundation like this one, and I know LOTTA them out there that DO.....Best of luck on that one.
