This piece is full of mystery the first time it plays and it only gets more impactful as the game progresses. On a second play, it crushed me. Pure perfection.
Even though I never grew up with the game, and its only been 3 years since I finished playing it for the first time, I cant help but feel a deep feeling of nostalgia when hearing this track. Like Citan's quote "many thoughts, feelings,", I always end up tearing up or crying when I hear this song, there are so many genuine deep feelings of sadness and melancholy that it brings out in me. Which probably shouldn't be a surprise with how much of a profound impact that this game had on me; perhaps its only that. It just feels like I've known this song for forever, which is interesting because of Fei's quote, "This music...? I've heard it before somewhere...?", and how before I ever finished the game I'd heard Small Two of Pieces and I genuinely felt such a strong feeling like I'd heard it long ago when I was a kid.
come on Square man, faithful remake of the original game.. do it.. get original writers back in and flesh out the second disc of the game as originally intended before their budget ran dry. this game deserves to be brought to the mainstream... and keep the soundtrack!
I think that CD2 isn't bad is just only that it has a different style of the CD1, I know that CD2 is like that due to budget problems but I think that Takahashi was trying to offer to the players the best experience as possible, even with all the problems
Now that I’m older, I can appreciate how much heart & soul Yasuyuki Honne, Tetsuya Takahashi, and Yasunori Mitsuda poured into making this masterpiece; so much more than I ever could as a kid. ❌❤️
The track plays as the music in the following cutscenes: - Fei listens to the music box constructed by Kim (here, the music plays in-universe). - Fei momentarily sees a flashback of him as a child playing with his mother after falling in battle near the Kislev border. - Rico remembers scenes from his young life after entering Kaiser Sigmund's room. - Fei and Elly have a heart-to-heart while adrift at sea in Aquvy. - Fei and Elly talk about the former being frozen in carbonite after the destruction of Etrenank. - Lacan tells Sophia he needs to get more paint to finish the latter's portrait (flashback, Lacan's perspective). - Lacan tells Sophia he needs to get more paint to finish the latter's portrait (flashback, Sophia's perspective). - Fei regains the memories from previous Contacts of the various incarnations of Elly dying, telling him to live each time.
I think the comments here are a testament to what a beautiful piece of art this is. Please release it into the world again for a new generation to find hope in!

SQUARE ENIX, listen to me please man! Give it a budget, make new Gears Figures, bring Yasunori Mitsuda back for OSTs. I will buy 10 copies!!! Please!!!
