Hiking at Starved Rock State Park

- While camping at Starved Rock we wanted to take a couple of the hikes to see the well known areas by the locals. First we took the short hike up onto Starved Rock and got some spectacular views of the Illinois River. Mr. Pete joined us for the hike into the St Louis Canyon, a place that's infamously known for the Murders at Starved Rock. While this area of the park has an unfortunate past, it's a beautiful place to see and visit. We enjoying hiking with Mr Pete and listening to him explain the local geology and history. This visit was certainly special for us and we only wished we had more time to visit at the park longer.

A hike with The MR. Pete. You are living the dream!😎
Thank you for taking us on your hike. Loved the information.
Mr Pete still seems pretty spry for an almost octogenarian!
Perfect video with a perfect ending. So happy to see Mr & Mrs Pete enjoying time out with you 🙂, what great company they must be.
I really needed this "Pick Me Upper" and I Thank Y'all for it... It really is Beautiful. Give Lyle tons of Love from us...Ricko
Thanks Mrpete enjoyed thanks Adam thanks abbey thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing your adventure! My son lives 10 mins from the park so I’m always there. At the 6 min mark of your video brings back so many memories, my 3 daughters and I always sit in that spot and watch the sun set !
Good to see you guys with Mr. Pete and a great video.
Looks like a really cool park. Definitely need to check it out myself when I'm in the area. 👍
That’s awesome thanks for sharing
Great video! I enjoyed the hike!
The Back Door Lounge at the Starved Rock Lodge has the best pot roast I've ever tasted.
As an Ottawa and descendant of Pontiac I really enjoyed seeing the plaque about my ancestors. Thank you for sharing. I hope to get to that area one day and see it for myself.
Hi Mr Pete. Nice country we have in America.
I have been there it is a cool place. Did you visit the other 2 nearby state parks?
One of the highlights of our life was traveling together enjoy.
Check out Frankenmuth Michigan. Nice town.
If you want to camp in Iowa, I highly recommend Ledges State Park - it's a lot like Starved Rock, but even better (I am definitely NOT prejudiced just because we live in Iowa).
I'm just a mile and a half south of starved rock. If you want some tenderloins check out smitty's in Leonore they're pretty well known in the state.
Another amazing video! Loved it so much!
Aaaaaaaaaahhhh Mr.Peterson ! 🤩
Right in my back yard. Kind of. I'm about 2 hours south.
Starved Rock and Matthiessen are great to visit in the fall. Matthiessen is my favorite of the two.
I was at St. Louis Canyon a few weeks ago and the waterfall eas running fuller and I was absolutely not aware of the murders that had happened there. Pretty place and cool echo
New sub ! Liked 😉😃🔥😍🙏🎉😍🦅🤘
Great Video..
& Welcome to Michigan too..
Great Video !
The first national park which is Yellowstone was established in 1872 . The National Park Service was created in 1916.
Saw your trailer at Hammond Walmart yesterday. Great videos, I’m planning on an RV trip with the wife when we retire.
Facinating story of why Starved Rock is named
It is a myth- the signs at the park even say that the story behind the name is a myth
Nice trail. A lot of pretty views.
I’m looking forward to visiting Starved Rock. You’ve got to come to WI! Illinois residents flock to WI in droves in the summer. Lots of great places to camp and scenery to see. We are on 2 Great Lakes and have lots of great interior lakes!
Just ask if you want any help about where to go in Michigan. If you like museums THE HENRY FORD in Dearborn is awesome. It has large semi-truck size steam engines. It's one of the best museums in the nation.
Should be able to throw a UV clear coat over those. They may even make a clear film that is UV protective.
Matthiessen State Park is right there and really nice too
is there room for a map of Australia ?
Best wishes to Mr Pete when he see this :)
I try to keep his “shop teacher” method I see in his video as I show new guys how I do stuff
Too bad you didn’t have an extra microphone for that guy To wear
Another great video just a shame Mr Pete didn't have a mic so we couldn't hear his interesting remarks.
👍
Ask Lyle how to lubricate a third wheel lol.
"In a town called Kickapoo" :D
Could you share the name of the book 📕 please!
I seen the documentary last year about the murders lf l remember correctly the man was exonerated
What are the chances of mr. Peter have a starrett shirt on.
pretty high, i reckon :)
72.003%
So, just to be clear, i have NO idea what you're talking about for this fiona video?
You should provide a link here...
Chester Weger is innocent.
Better check them axles after you go thru windy cities pitiful roads.... Michigan isn't much better!
Its sad to see how people deface those reading signs can’t even see nice ones when they want to carve up the signs
