Like your channel a lot..when I was younger a auto trans wS kinda like brain surgery to me. I'm 71 now and I so want to learn powerglids, th350 ,th400, and maybe 700r4. I have taken a powerglid apart, just to see all the parts.i thought heck there is hardly anything in there.and yet them have been the go to trans for thousand, and thousands of guys. Like the way you take your time showing and telling how ,why, and what you are doing step by step.you are providing a bunch of us know nothings, with loads of info. Not all videos do that. Thank you.
I watched a series of videos from Hughes. Very Wall made and informative. I recorded every one. Then lost them all. I called Hughes and talked a guy. He said yes I remember when they did that series. So I said I would like to buy each series of disc. He said we don't have them for sale. So I said why not? He laughed and said I don't know. You just put a idea in my head and I'm going to ask why we didn't do that. So I lightly said we'll you guts sell parts for any application , you should sell customer support videos on the things you sell, because your whole reason for being in business is to sell and make money. He said I think we need you here working for us.
Definitely one of the guys that you gave confidence to just do it. I've built engines but always have thought of a transmission to be intimidating due to not knowing anyone that did their own. Last year with the help of all of your th400 videos and the manuals I tore down and rebuilt my first th400. If it wasn't for your content I wouldn't have tried it.
Thanks for the video! I am looking forward to the second part. I've done everything conceivable in terms of mechanics and autobody EXCEPT rebuild a transmission. Because of your videos, I am about to get started on my first rebuild. As an educator of 33 years, let me say that you are an excellent teacher.
Great video as usual, and no need to apologize for going into detail that is what I'm here for, little tips on how to modify the 400 to hold extra power or make the drums run cooler or less drag like rollerizing or dual feed, I would like a complete rebuild video step by step including every little step so I don'tmind if you explain more then you expected to do, thank you sir
Outstanding. Your step by step comments detailing small but important hints on assembly detail are excellent and priceless. Also running comments regarding the difference of a stock vs modified assembly are extremely valuable. These videos are like being in the shop in person apprenticing under a master transmission specialist. Your videos are archival and will be the “go to source” for future individuals seeking to learn the details of building a TH400. Keep up the good work.
Great info very clear walk through. My favorite part is the camera shake when u smash the table ot set something down makes me feel like saying...hulk smash lol
I love the detail of the build process! I appreciate you going through the effort. Going inside of an automatic transmission is something I've not done, but I am interested in doing soon. This is looking like a great series of videos! Some great advice in here, too.
Shawn what is the seal numbers for the front and rear. My wife's uncle that use to rebuild transmission has a drawer full of seals. He also has a few 8 bolts laying around.
HELP I have asked this ? Many times, no one has ever helped me out on it. Why does my th400 shift from first to 3rd in like 10 feet. You never feel it shift. If I manually shift it all is fine. Any help would be great. Thank you
Sounds like you need an adjustable modulator with the screw turned in, or different governor weights. If it is a diesel you might have the wrong modulator. Good places to start. Also providing vehicle info would be helpful.
Does it shift from first to third or first , second then third . If it shifts through all the gears to third then it sounds like you may need to recalibrate the governor . It uses springs and weights to calibrate it for your gear ratio .
I appreciate your job I love the videos they're super fantastic 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪💪⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😎
You're a great guy for sharing your experience with us, I hope you keep making videos, so I can keep watching them.
Thanks for watching, you made my day!

I'm a hobbyist, and it always made sense to me to leave the nail alone. It's good to know others share that philosophy! As always, great video!
Thanks for watching!
@@mountainsgarage You're welcome! This stuff is GOLD! Thanks for making these videos!
Thank you for your videos . I have learn a lot from watching them .
The most important part is that you take the time and explain great job.
Love your videos!
Also I love watching a pro do something they make it look so simple.

Great video, Great video.
I still need to send you a bunch of rear seals
That would be awesome!
Thanks Shawn!

What is the best way to remove light rust on splines on front shaft. I purchased a used TH400 that was sitting and developed some light rust
Very light rust you can use a wire wheel or brush. Much beyond that soaking in a rust remover.
So ,I could strap my Th-400 out of an 83 square body c20 2wd,to a pallet &ship it to you,you could overhaul/rebuild it for me?
Asking from Western PA.
How hard is it to convert a long shaft 400 to a short shaft ?
He covered that in his last video. It's just switching output shafts and tail housing.
