I really love the El Cortez. I'm a history buff, and dig the Rat Pack era. There is a great low scale to the El Cortez. Low ceilings, fabulous carpets, long and sinuous - not big and open. Intimate and intriguing. Romantic and fatally sordid...I'd never played blackjack before, and I dug my first time at the El Cortez.
Fascinating! These are the kind of things that ensure Vegas will always be unique compared to any other Casino town. Let's just hope we keep them alive and carry on that tradition that makes the originality so special
Wow, these are absolutely wonderful. Thanks for sharing these things. I didn't realize how pivotal El Cortez was in the whole mob infiltration. I guess they had to restart since the Ferguson model was out of date by then.
