  • Today I woke up and found that it had snowed over night. So I decided to make a video on how my 2022 Tesla Model X handles it. I also compared the Tesla Model X and Tesla Model Y front drivers windows to determine if either have double paned glass. I hope you enjoy!

    Great Video!! I'm on track to get my Model X Plaid in Feb..I wonder how the 22" wheels and tires will do in the snow. I'll probably not get to experience that here in Charlotte NC, we never get snow! Also my daily vehicle is a 4runner!

      Thanks for the awesome compliment! The further you are from the snow the better. In my opinion. I don't know when you watch my videos if you ever noticed a 4 runner in the background. Thats also mine. Purchased new in 2003 and still kicking. I have to park it on the side now because we don't have enough room in garage. That car will run forever if you take care of it. Thanks for watching and good luck with plaid!

    I have to say, you had great results with all-weather tires. Imagine if you had WINTER tires with a siped tread! Where I live in North Idaho, I would definitely go with winter tires on a Model X, which I hope to get. All-weather tires were described to me like a pair of sneakers - a compromise for everything. Sneakers are not as good as snow boots in the winter, and they are not as good as a pair of sandals at the beach in the summer. I would go with summer tires and winter tires. But your demo of the handling in snow was terrific! Thanks for your video.

    So to answer question you had in your video, four-wheel-drive is usually in reference to dumb systems that just split the power evenly across four wheels, sometimes they have an open differential, sometimes a closed, especially depending on how old you’re talking about it’s of very vague and can encompass a lot of things, but if you see 4 Wheel Dr. it’s never an intelligent system. All-wheel-drive is intelligent systems that specifically give you power to the wheels that have traction, some do it better than others, but they all usually have some component of intelligence system that can individually control how much power each wheel is getting. Tesla uses an open differential with torque vectoring using the brakes, so if the left wheel is spinning then it’ll close the brakes on that side so that will stop spinning and the differential sends power to the right wheel. That’s an oversimplification but a pretty good basic explanation of how it works.

    I have another question for you, now that you have driven your X in lots of snow. I am seriously considering the Model X because I need an all-wheel-drive vehicle and I want an EV (and a Tesla with FSD). BUT... we live in North Idaho, lots of snow, and we have a house that has a LONG and STEEP driveway. Sometimes even after using a snowblower the driveway ices up and can be TOO SLICK for most vehicles to drive on. The slope of our driveway is like a steep street in San Francisco. So what do you think?? Do you think a Model X with hard-core dedicated winter tires (like Nokian Hakapelitta R3) and all-wheel drive could handle our long steep driveway without slipping and going into pinball mode, sliding down sideways and banging into walls on either side? If you ever make a video of your Model X in the snow on a VERY STEEP road, I would sure like to see it!!! Thanks again!

    • @teslaownersperspective1968
      @teslaownersperspective1968  2 роки тому +1

      That a good question. What you're describing sounds like something not too many vehicles can handle. If driving in what's depicted in the video is near what you have to deal with then yes it can handle. I have not driven the X in any steep roads covered in ice. We might be getting snow again this weekend. If we do I'll look around and try to find something more compatible with what you're dealing. Hopefully that answers your question.

    I kind of disagree about your comment regarding SUVs, especially when it comes to Tesla, if you don’t need the vertical cabin space or extra seating, there’s really no reason to get a model X over S, they both literally have identical drivetrains and ride heights, The same goes for most vehicles nowadays. Snow performance is pretty good, as long as cars have good enough ground clearance, which luxury vehicles with air suspension are always great with. Personally I drive a model three and while I was worried about snow performance and thought about getting a model Y, I would be getting a significant range hit and acceleration hit, plus I really didn’t need the extra space and the inch of ground clearance wasn’t making much of a difference, as long as I do some research and buy good all seasons it’ll have a 99% the same performance as a Y.

      Hi Volts. I totally understand where you're coming from. I think I just like the SUV overall over a sedan. After owning the Y and now the X i ca say with certainty that anyone Tesla you choose will be an outstanding vehicle in any weather condition. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    Ugh. The thin blue line flag just kills me. Not saying I disagree with cops life mattering, but the situation in which it got co-opted - on the heels of police abuse and murder (BLM) just causes disdain from me, even worse was when cops were also wearing shirts with “I can’t breathe” while waiving this flag was just plain Evil.
    Not saying that’s your intent. I know it was created in 2019 for cops killed on line of duty predating 2020 issues, but can’t help that it causes me distress due to aforementioned co-opting

      I understand what you're saying. I don't condone abuse of any kind. Not the signal I'm trying to sending. I do appreciate your feed back and for watching!
