After little demolition work on the exterior over the last week, the crew demolished the left field upper deck July 21 and 22, 2008.
This video was shot about 2 hours before the second left field light tower - which you see here - was felled as the rest of the section came down.
Demolition of one of the most storied arenas in the history of American sports is coming down. Detroit still has a chance to save a corner of The Corner! Donate whatever you can at www.savetigerstadium.org. Every little bit helps! Remember, once it's gone, it's gone forever!

Nice video. Were you standing on top of a van or truck? How did you get a shot from over the screen fence?

It was all about money.Kwame knew his ass was goin down so he pushed behind the scenes to get this down before he left.Detroit did'nt pay a dime nor get a dime for this, the contract company scaped the metal.I wonder how good of friends they are with Kwame?

It just so happened that due to the 2008 economic downturn, the price of scrap metal dropped so dramatically that it actually cost an additional $250,000 to have the material hauled away, as there was no market for the scrap at that point in time. Just another instance that rubbed salt in our collective proverbial wounds over the demolition of the stadium.
