  • AUTHORS CHAT WITH DEBRA MURPHY 26.03.24
Welcome to the 13th edition of @AUTHORSCHATBETHJORDAN23 with my new guest - Debra Murphy - Author
    There's MAGIC in the air!
Debra originally hailed from Halifax in England but now lives in Central Scotland with her husband Jim and Florence their beloved collie.
She is an enthusiastic hill walker and cyclist and has walked over 25 Munros in Scotland, Ben Lors being a favourite.
It was a joy chatting with Debra and finding out about her writing of two wonderful stories, both containing elements of magic.
Her first book - The Magical Tearoom on the Hill - was a wonderful welcoming space where people shared their stories and formed a strong community
'The Magical Tearoom on the Hill is a book to curl up with a cup of tea and a slice of cake (that you can even bake yourself) with a fabulous mix of stories to warm your heart and delicious gluten-free and dairy-free recipes to create beautiful cakes and bakes. You, too, can create your own magical space'
Beatrix her collie was a regular visitor, who sat and watched all that went on in the tearoom and drooled over the yummy gluten free cakes.
In time Beatrix told her own stories about her adventures with Debra, who were soul mates and chatted constantly to each other in
    Beatrix The Time Travelling Collie
'Beatrix began talking to me about all the stories I'd written involving her but telling them from her viewpoint, which was often very different from my memories'.
That's when Beatrix had the idea of writing her own book, and she asked if I'd type it up for her if she could tell the stories in her own words.
I didn't hesitate. Writing this book for Beatrix has made me see the world differently through the eyes of a clever, sensitive, loving, energetic, intuitive, and bossy dog.
The stories in the book are a combination of memories from Beatrix and myself. Beatrix tells the stories, but I always did the typing because Beatrix couldn't get her paws to work the tiny keys on the laptop. One day, somebody will create a bark-recognition software package for other dogs to tell their stories.
I personally love one of the pieces from the book
'Mum and I are so alike, I'm surprised she hasn't grown a black and white coat'.
Thank you Debra Murphy for a most joyful and heart opening chat

The aim of these chats is to introduce new self-published, indie authors to a wider audience, to discover new talented writers and to hear their voice and what writing means to them, what it means to be an author, some of the writing process and to encourage others to write their stories.
