I think the way you show is the best from others. the drawings are very clear. Also, I use to do the papers from your sights, after watching your videos, I could do all the questions correctly except a few. Finally, I think I have got a kind of development of my school works better than my previous works. anyway, thnx a lot and a lot.

    i dont understand as to why the reactivity decreases as you go down

    • @reisamiah462
      @reisamiah462 5 років тому +2

      is it becuase, due to shielding, and the shells increasing as you go down, the nucleus finds it hard to gain an electron, and making the outermost shell weaker for each element?

    • @Cognitoedu
      @Cognitoedu  5 років тому +7

      asian rat - essentially yes! Halogens are always looking to gain an electron to complete their outer shell. So, as you say, they’re trying hard to pull electrons off of nearby atoms. As you go down the group, the element has more shells, and so, as you said, the halogen’s nucleus can’t exert such a strong pull on the electrons of nearby atoms, because those electrons are always further away (because all the halogen’s shells are getting in the way). I hope this confirms what you’ve already said! :)

      @KyojinNoEren 2 місяці тому

      what do you mean by reactivation?

    • @hadi-gl6qx
      @hadi-gl6qx 20 днів тому

      In group 1, the atoms that have more shells are more reactive because it is easy for the atom to get rid of it’s outer shell
      But in group 7, the atoms that have more shells are less reactive because they are further away from their main mass at the nucleus, making it harder to attract that last electron, and make a full shell.
