Fun Fact: The colour palette for Dr. Starline, a villain character from the IDW Sonic comics, was inspired by Wechidna (even the name was inspired by the line of stars Wechidna is called in Chaotix’s debug mode).
Also note that Echidnas and Platypi are the only egg-laying mammals.

If you look closely at Wechnia (the glitched out Knuckles) you can see he even has Tails' shoes.
Who'd have thought Chaotix was one of the _least_ broken Sonic games?

i've looked everywhere i couldnt and no sign of wechnia in a creepypasta.

Knuckles' Chaotix's gameplay is pretty "ehh", but it's one giant audio/visual drug, and I love every minute of it.

The reason Wechnia uses Mighty's palette is because Tails usually uses Sonic's palette. I found this out by looking at Sonic's palette in Sonic 2 and it's safe to assume that every other game has Tails using Sonic's palette. I"m also 99.9% certain that the palette Sonic and Tails in Sonic 3&K is the same as Sonic 2. (The unused intro cutscene for Sonic 3 further backs this up)
This game needs more love.

Why? It's actually a rather $#!+ game. Considering 3D Sonic is worse than 2D Sonic I think a remake in modern times would be extra awful. If they're going to put time and money into a classic style game it would be much better for them to make something new that we haven't played before, just with a classic feel and look and definitely no overbearing gimmicks.

You can emulator because it's pretty much the only way to play the game. I have an emulator for kirby super star ultra but I have the right because I lost both of my actual copies
I was surprised it wasn't on either of the GameCube collections, OR the x360/ps3 one. Why??
Maybe because the design is terrible
RandomCottenRange Zone emulators are in fact not illegal at all.
Downloading ROMs or ISOs is illegal.
Ripping ROMs and ISOs from cartridges and disks that you already own and putting them on your computer to play through the emulator is also *not* illegal.
The only thing that's illegal is getting ROMs and ISOs from the internet without paying the publisher or devs (Like buying a game from steam)
Sega needs to make another sonic mania game where Ashura the Hedgehog and Wechidna are unlock able characters. Ashura’s could be to swim fast and swim up waterfalls and Wechidna can fly and stun enemies.

I'm so pleased to see somebody acknowledge the existence of this game. It's one of the best Sonic series games and, tragically, the only classic Sonic game that has never been rereleased. And it's one of the more expensive 32X games.

I was actually able to get through a good portion of Botanic Base with the Wechnia (Tails), but it crashed after i called my partner back
Great video as always! It's fun to see this often forgotten classic explored.
Of course, the whole bit about Sonic, Tails, Wechnia and the Sonic Crackers connection to Chaotix is old news to anyone who was involved in researching the old Sonic games. Good old times! If I'm not mistaken, Pachuka was the one who coined the name "Wechnia" for the glitched character. That large Sonic sprite (edited from Mighty) was made by my fiancée, who also discovered Amy Rose hidden in the game's data.

I used to have a sega genesis emulator on my phone once. I loaded up knuckles chaotix once and put it the code to get the glitched tails. I honestly thought my game would crash too but surprisingly it worked. I couldn’t fly though

Apparently, they took out Sonic and Tails from Knuckles Chaotix (or "cancelled" Sonic Crackers, which was put on the 32x later in development) because they were concerned that the severely under-performing 32x would cause the fairly standard traditional Sonic game to severely under-perform as well and damage the brand... even though I don't think that would do anything to brand, but whatever.
Makes sense. Since in Sonic 2 and 3, both Sonic and Tails were using the same color palette.
This game looks actually fun!

I find it funny that Wechnia, the glitch character that people had latched onto enough to be given his own name like the Ashura glitch from Sonic 2, was actually just Tails the whole time

the real first appearance of mighty was in the "Sega Sonic the Hedgehog" game released as far as I'm aware as an arcade game & only in Japan, it was also the only appearance [until mania plus] of the character Ray
the reason why wegenia(?) uses knuckles' sprite and mighties' colour pallet is because when the game is given a sprite that it has no memory of, it uses the next best thing. It uses knuckles' sprite because it uses weighted averages to find out which sprite between knuckles and mighty(the two closest characters to wegenia on the player select screen, therefore the two closest ones code-wise) to use, because knuckles' side has more characters on it, knuckles' sprite was used, and therefore mighties' color pallet was used so that wegenia didn't look like a glitchy knuckles.
The glitched character looks like whoever made it tried to beat it out of existence, but somehow survived long enough to become whatever the hell it is now.
