- David Frost wraps up his Sunday show at 9:25 am before local presentation from LWT links into the new series of The Big Match with Brian Moore. Looks like some dated graphics in the titles, mixed with the new-for-the-time ITV Sport theme music.
Someone take me back to those days.
The best days miss them
Best theme tune ever for The Big Match
Forget Big Pav in 1990, Aztec Gold has to be the finest footy tune ever?
I love the music, it reminds me when of my childhood.
2 years after i was born ❤
I'm guessing *early* 1988, a time when Mable and Joyce from the TV-am canteen hadn't yet quite got the hang of how to operate a camera.
During the 1987/87 strike - TV-AM's Winter of Discontent.
After some research. It either looks to be either 1st or 8th May 1988. The final 2 weeks of the league season and only seemed to have been shown in London
Making a re-use of the theme to the 1986 Mexican World Cup
Also of course the theme tune for Saint and Greavesie
should be this years world cup tune ,no messing about with it ,leave it as it is
Why did we have to get up early on a Sunday to watch Football in the late 80s
Wow, ITV really ran this song into the ground from the Mexico games until around 1992. They just slapped it onto any football related programme. Lol.
QPR In The TitleS...
WiTh The ClaSSic FLY KLM KiT...
You can't beat double Jeff Wayne, back to back.
The Daybreak theme playing out TV-am was composed by David Dundas. Jeff composed the epic main Good Morning Britain theme.
Saint and greavsie and Mexico 86
This was 2nd leg play off final Palace v Blackburn which Palace overturned 3/1 from 1st leg.
that was 1989 though
LWT , the slickest on the network fucking nailing that live handover as to be expected ...the other regions car crashes make me laugh out loud 🤣
It did help that The Big Match was their own programme.
Was this only for London viewers only?
garry simpson yes. This was aired on London Weekend Television, which is the weekend contractor in the London region only. Not sure if other contractors in the network were airing this as well...
@@benzaybsmusicmusings9384 I would have thought that Granada would have showed this given that the opponents were Manchester City though would have most likely recorded it off the London feed at 9:25am for showing in the afternoon
@@darren2514fv I remember watching this in the Granada region.
Saint and G
So no Children's ITV that morning
Weren't the children's programmes on before David Frost on Sunday, or am I mistaken?
@@DaveAndBeth1978 You are right there was children's programmes on b4 David Frost on a Sunday but were made in house by TV-am themselves but in regards to Children's ITV it was on weekends at 9.25 in the morning it seems LWT didn't want to show Children's ITV
@jamesdelboy or it may have been a one-off cancellation because there was a match on?
@@DaveAndBeth1978 I suppose that is true
@jamesdelboy actually thinking back, when Channel 4 launched its first morning / breakfast service less than a year later (The Channel 4 Daily on Monday to Friday, and Early Morning on weekends), ITV moved the kids' programmes onto Channel 4 on the Early Morning segment, so this could have been a sign of them getting ready for that change...
same title music as the legendary Saint and Greavsie. ITV and the BBC really have declined over the years.
Cheap old ITV recycled Aztec Gold, with its Mexican flavour for Saint and Greavsie and The Big Match
...So much better than MOTD and their pretentious club logos opening titles and equally pretentious presenter and experts line up!
Do you know the name of the tune at the start.
@@azz17394The Big Match theme is Aztec Gold, which was ITV's Mexico 86 World Cup theme.
I’d go back to these days anytime! Non of the liberal crap of today.. we had a country of our own then! RIP ENGLAND
Back to a time when we were still in the E.U
