I know. Things have never the same since the late 60s (socially-speaking), and I''m So Glad for that fact.
Damn that War on Drugs that Reagan declared in the 1980s (making drugs like marijuana, mushrooms, etc almost as damning as crack, meth, etc). Of course, fortunately, that's all over now (with marijuana, etc being made officially legal in more and more states across the country).

Yeah, just turned 70 here too! Wow, never imagined I 'd get this far to be honest. My friend we certainly did have some absolutely amazing music didn't we? Kind of weird though isn't it its called "Classic Rock" now. Remember when it was released and on the radio, or better the record store, remember them, it was called "progressive", "underground", and my favorite "experimental" rock. I can still remember when I was in college and worked at the electronic supply store and lunch time would roll around. The partners would go out to grab lunch and I was left to "mind the store". I guess they thought it would make me more, responsible, yeah right! The moment they all left the parking lot the sound system in the audio room would be changed from the easy listening elevator music to the local progressive rock transmitter. I have to tell you this lunch was never better. Bands like Cream, LZ, Jimi to mention a few came booming out of those Wharfedale W60s! We had great high end systems in that room Wharfedale's, McIntosh preamps/ amps, Garrard turntables, and not to forget those great Shure magnetic cartridges and TEAC reel to reel tape decks. Anyway thanks for reading my ramblings you shook the brain pail! Be well and safe peace to you and yours.

Can you imagine a musical gathering of this size going on in this day and age? Every time you hear of a gathering of youth today there will be stabbings, shootings and outright mayhem going on. I don't remember a single gang related situation going on at Woodstock and according to Wikipedia, there were over 460,000 who attended that weekend! We were about "Peace and Love" but today's generation seems to be about self centeredness and taking advantage of others......and to think that these same kids VOTE!! PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY!!!

Yes, Clamchucker - it was some world then . . . filled with HOPE that human beings could learn to live together in Freedom, Brotherhood & PEACE (corny as it sounds, it would be soooo nice to get back to those goals, would it not?) Our children, now grown, carry the message. Wishing you, and yours, Health, Joy & PEACE.

+Clamchucker and Martha Mack Yes we did have quite the world didn't we! The world seemed to be getting the idea back then didn't it? We celebrated our brothers and sisters that were different. Who cared how you dressed, wore your hair, or anything else for that matter, we had a cause. We wanted to end a war, give everyone a helping hand to a better life, end discrimination and hate. I for one still believe that and invite everyone to join up again, it still isn't to late. I believe it's too late when you stop breathing and your life force is gone. Peace to you and yours brothers and sisters.

I've discovered dates, names, events and social trends which link the original American Woodstock festival of 1969 and at least one of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The DSS were discovered near the Dead Sea in 1947, after being hidden for 2,000 years. :)

opinions vary. Just like a lot of people hate the "jug" being played with the 13th Floor Elevators,i think it was their signature and was kickass, just like the broken, staggered piano fit in on this song for me,to each his own.
