“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Love it.
AMEN to that 😀
Best part about owning your own business? You get to choose which 20 hours a day you work.
hahaha so true :-(
So true!
I once heard that the difference between being unemployed and self-employed is what you do with all of your time.
@@bzuidgeest Exactly, some people are better suited for wage consistency, and some better suited for entrepreneurial life. Why the world keeps turning the way it does. It needs both types.
Rule #1: don’t read comments
Rule #2: if you ignore rule #1, then please make more of these videos 🤣
Read comments and smile, so you realize being normal is so difficult.
@QuadRaSphere Records and Radio Sadly this is impossible to block all bad comments or stupid comments, free speech always with this kind of people whose mind have problem.
“Jeff” should pay for UA-cam Premium to get rid of ads and still support the creator…
Or sign up to Patreon, supports the creator and gets ad free viewing
BuT ThAts A mOnEy gRaB!
Everything has a cost and a value. If your time is plentiful, watch ads, otherwise pay for premium and avoid ads. Mike has costs to creating videos and monetizing with ads helps offset costs. I suspect he is still doing them at a loss over all. Thus still giving away most of his time. If you still don’t agree and feel you don’t get your fair value from the videos, then don’t watch. Alphabet (Google) is the one benefiting most from Mike’s hard work creating worthwhile content. Complain to them.
That's exactly what I did because I got sick of the ads and I wanted to help all of these content creators that I enjoy watching without having to become a Patreon supporter for 100+ channels.
Agree. It includes UA-cam music as well. Music streaming and no ads on videos is a pretty good deal.
Hey, I bought your plans, that includes you coming over to my place and building it for me, right? right? 😂😂
Hi Mike. Just wanted to say that I massively appreciate the work that you, David, Perifractic and countless other UA-camrs put in. Sadly, we live in such a selfish and demanding society and everyone seems to want everything for nothing. The general public can be scarily ignorant sometimes, too. All of this combines to make the dross that you have to endure in your comments section. It's shameful. Keep up the good work, fella
"is it criminal that you charge your boss to go to work everyday?" love that reply, what more can you say? haha
It should be noted that many of these types of comments get deleted. Not all. But many. I hope this doesn't encourage them to make more to try to get me to post them. LOL!
I can imagine brother, great video dude. You make cool content 👍
Great video, really enjoyed the idea and discussion. I can definitely relate, there are times I get some real doozies, a few I've saved off before I deleted them (in shock). The vast majority of comments are kind people with genuine questions and I usually try to help when I can. I have a bunch of guides I provide to help them out, but yeah... there are those that leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Thanks so much for sharing, enjoyed this distraction of typical content and liked the vid!
Love your videos, paid plans and the brilliant ads!
Mike, I appreciate the time you invest in these videos and projects. I bought your plans and used them to build three different arcades. Didn't mind paying for your work. Keep making great videos.
Great video. Not so much the comments themselves but how you deal with them and your insights on how to mentally prepare yourself to setup a business.
Hi Mike,
I am a subscriber for some time now but I have just recently started watching your videos retroactively. I love the content, which is very interesting, and your narration. Thank you and keep up the good job.
As for those crazy comments, I am not sure that it is very healthy reading for you but it nice to occasionally hear the strange ideas that people have.
Thank you Mike, long time since I laughed so much!
Highly entertaining. Would watch more of these.
Still watching, but Im already loving this style. Please do more! Edit: I finished watching the video and I still love the style. I hope other people enjoy this too.
Great video!!! I needed that laugh today. I hope you so more of these. Ive seen where your brother has had some award winning comments. You should bring him in to do a show on this topic for his channel.
Love these videos, definitely gonna build your cocktail cabinet 👍
Love you and your bro. Thanks for the content.
Subscribed. Love this channel.
This gives me courage. I have worked on a business for 20 years; tried different things. Just lately i have found what I'm good at, in electronics. I learned a long time ago if you want to know what someone else knows, then pay them. I bought all your arcade stuff and have made a mini NES arcade bar top from an old touch-cade from 2008. Modified it. Will be using your plans to make my next arcade. Thank you for your content. Has helped me alot.
My Uncle used to go to auctions and buy boxes of junk. I used to fix the electronics in them. Never dreamed I would do it as a business. But I love making things work again. Finding out what is wrong with them. And modifying them.
Free isnt free. People who grew up poor understand. My grandpa said the lessons you buy are the ones you remember. And we all pay for lessons. We pay with blood, bruises or money. But something has to be paid.
Thank you for posting content all these years. Many tubers have come and gone in this industry. People dont realize how much money it takes to be on here. UA-cam isnt free. It costs alot. If they have bought just one computer, software or camera they would understand.
Love the content. Keep it up.
Thanks for the business pep talk! That was great
Great to see your getting some fun out of the crazy, mean and weird comments.
Thank you for you vídeos.
They are free and we can relax in the end of work day, when I am exhausted and I can dream what I can do in my free time.
People should give more appreciation ,for the ones who elucidate and entertain with their videos.thumbs up for you and you brothers videos .love it !!💪
Love the t-shirt, hate the fact that you get these comments. Making content is not easy, and yours is high quality and educational and entertaining .. such a rare combo! Keep up the great work! 👍
great content from ylu and your brother! like to watch it every time :)
8-bit Guy and The Geek Pub are my favorite Tech Channels on UA-cam. I am a subscriber from Pakistan and I have learned a lot from you guys. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and projects with rest of the world! :-)
How is a build channel, showing how to make things bragging about one's possessions? its a necessary part of the channel. As for selling your plans, they're welcome to do the research and cobble together their own plans. FYI, new to the channel and love it.
That's so funny with the 8-Bit Guy relation because the whole time, I thought you sounded so similar, but figured it was a coincidence. It all makes so much sense now.
I enjoyed this video, made me smile.
Mike, I really enjoy your videos and those people that make theese comments must have had a bad day or something. If they appreciate your videos like I do they wouldn’t be posting comments like that! You are absolutely brilliant and I enjoy your videos, especially your arcade cabinet builds! And your’re right, people don’t need all the machines that you have. They must use their brains. You can’t think for them. I mean you’re showing them how to use tools that anyone can afford. Keep up the good work which is both entertaining and I learn a lot! Thanks Mike!
Love to hear about entitled people and their demands. Please keep doing this kind of videos. Besides, your channel, your rules! Nice work.
The idiocy of some people is just astonishing 🤣. I hope you have a good laugh every time you read these comments! Just know your loyal fan base is here, and laughing along with you, and facepalming along the way!
LULZ U R 2 REECH!
XD I kid. Your videos are fun and informative. They have inspired me to do things I wouldn't normally do in life (like build stuff - your brother inspired me to get into retro computing). I have to admit, I originally set out to write a book series about a fantasy version of the 1980s, yet your guys' videos have helped flesh out the world I'm writing about.
I did enjoy the video. It made me chuckle and not look forward to starting a channel of my own 😂
Some people expect you to handhold them through everything. I've learned that you're not really doing them or yourself any favors by getting involved, because typically people like this will find a way to screw it up with or without your help. In fact, often they'll come back to you and reveal some information which they didn't offer previously, which might have changed your advice or instruction if you'd known. Anything you expected someone to already know as common sense will have been missed. Ultimately you will somehow always end up looking like the idiot or at fault for their mistakes.
I like the Choose Your Own Adventures on the shelf in the back
One of my favorite quotes is "if your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it" (or some variation of that). Definitely agree about sacrificing in the short term to make long term gains. I wonder if people are too entitled to give up their leisure time to work at things -- that's not really a problem of course unless they're complaining about not getting things done.
Hey Mike! I’d like to thank you for creating your arcade plans.
My dad’s been a really big part of my life. He’s a contractor and has been teaching me all about woodworking lately. I remember him saying he was wanting to get himself a new Arcade 1UP head to head table for his newly built house. Personally, I don’t like these machines because of how cheaply made they feel and look. I was wanting to find him something better but didn’t want to go with a 40yr old table since neither of us would know how to fix it. That was when I stumbled upon your cocktail table video.
Using all my dad taught me so far, I’ve been building a cocktail table based on your plans (with some slight modifications). I’m trying to make this look authentic to the point where I’m using Ms. Pacman reproduction overlays. I’ve got it all cut out and am in the process of staining the plywood. Once it’s assembled, wired up, and my wife and I get to testing it, we’re going to gift to to my dad as a father’s day present. I’ve been applying what my dad taught me and have been learning a ton more during the process.
I’ve really grateful for the work that you’ve done Mike! Thank you so much!
I don't think people get how much time and effort goes into creating a proper video, maybe it's an idea to show a full making of video, how much goes on off camera. Script, gathering parts, info, setting up camera's, editing the video, etc. Most people don't get this is a job not just a random sidethingy.
Another thing people often forget when they look at possesion of stuff is age. OMG this guy has a house, 2 cars, a workshop, woooow he's so rich what a showoff. Forgetting the part the guy is 30 years older than you. He's worked more than your lifetime and saved up and gathered things over YEARS, he didn't all aquire it in 1 day like you think you are entitled to.
I once saw a documentary about Tony Beets, the miner from Gold Rush and a viewer asked him, are you a millionaire and how do i become one?
He said well obviously i am, and the best advice i have for you is: Get up early and do your best.
There is no magic pill guys (other than winning the lottery or inheriting), just work hard and you'll get it.
Great video. Hilarious comments!
First time I see this on the notification, I'm like "why did you care about those comments?" Until I jumped right in on my free lunchtime and realize this is one of the most hilarious video I've ever watched. Seriously, how do their mind even work?
Most mean spirited comments end up being about getting something for free with no effort at someone else's expense.
Such a good video !!! Was so good to 🤣🤣🤣
That was a fun video, and it seems that bots are being programmed to just use a random assortment of words. It’s a new form of trolling, I guess.
Its probably some Russian secret code about the Upside Down
Nice comments! (?) Anyway, the audio from the movie-clips you added is WAY LOUD!
I love your channel and content. Ignore the haters and keep up the amazing work!!!
This was a good one. People shouldn't be afraid of others who achieve success... They should learn from them. As for the person in the beginning who talked about how you monetize your videos, tell him to get UA-cam Premium or become a Patreon.
I definitely would like to see more of these videos.
I enjoy your content. You make me want to be a better geek.
You're much more entertaining than Hollywood produced material... Keep up the good work...
I've bought all your plans for 15 bucks that's a steal in my opinion. The cuts the details the products it's well worth what you pay. I would like to see a more detailed video on the Sanwa button connections though I can't seem to find a decent one
Thank you for your content! We appreciate all your efforts.
i think those random word comments are trying to confuse the spam filter. it works by looking at spam comments and seeing common words that show up in them, so if a ton of spam comments are just random words it can confuse it
(i think)
When you read out that comment with random words, you probably just activated a bunch of sleeper agents 😂
When you started talking something in the back of my mind said "The way he talks makes me think of 8-bit Guy" and I guess I know why now >_
This was hilarious 🤣
Some people are odd ducks. O_o love the cash register clip btw 😂
God I love this i hope you make more of this content
the haters can pound sand and get bent, keep up your hard work, i get so many ideas for my future network closet and server build out from you and your brothers channel.
I look forward to eventually having a subscriber count that attracts the crazy entitled people. 🤣
Bingo! You are spot on. Spend the few bucks a month, get rid of the commercials and move on with life.
There's a lot of lazy jealous people out there. They're easy to identify, they're often the ones who want something for nothing or criticize well earned success. Success and wealth doesn't fall in your lap. Its a process of working hard long hours, taking educated risks, broadening your skill set, challenging yourself and never stop learning.
Don't hate on someone because they did what you did not. Praise them and thank them for their contributions and entertainment. Sponsored or not..
And yes, I'd like to see more of these candid feed back videos.
Thanks Mike. Keep up the good work. It's amazing that so many people don't appreciate hard work. I know some rich people and they all work long hours. They're very nice, very polite, and they love helping others. It's absolutely crazy that lady allows her pre-teen son to handle power tools without supervision. (otherwise she wouldn't be demanding you to help the kid for free)
Nice one, Mike! You've got it right on all counts here!
I really appreciate your videos. Thanks for all the entertainment and for putting up with the crazies. I hope you continue to be compensated enough for it to continue being worth your valuable time.
Glad you and your wife were able to buy a lake house. Rather than envy it just gives me motivation.
Also I asked the 8-bit guy if he could get me in contact with you and I never heard back. 😈
You and your brother Rock Love you guys videos!!!!
The gun thing? What is that I'm genuinely curious now. But in all seriousness this was absolutely hilarious can't wait for more of these
I was wondering the same thing. What is the gun thing?!
Agreed. I'm confused.
Apparently it’s common knowledge somewhere that David is an avid gun enthusiast (and that somehow makes him therefore a member of a certain political party).
The 8-bit Guy is a fan of AIR guns. The ones with compressed air and pelets. But they have the same shape, and "gun" in the name, so some people somehow got offended.
@@danielsimpkins9662 People are really crazy sometimes.
I think it's downright shameful, that you won't jump into a cesspool, rescue a drowning leper, and then give them mouth-to-mouth.
Armatron!!! I had one as a kid, loved it.
I guessed I miss something.. what is the 8-bit guy's "gun thing" people are talking about?
I really enjoyed it for sure. I have a channel where I’ve made a few videos, and it’s no walk in the park. Just one of the videos I made (which just teaches people how to setup and basic use of a piece of video compression software) took me several weeks of understanding the software myself. The hours I put into learning the software before I decided to make a video on it cannot be understated, so these folks who complain about you monetizing clearly have never made a video themselves.
I enjoyed the video!
The common thread I hear from the commentors is they tend to all sound entitled. You don't owe them or any of us anything. I appreciate your content, you keep doing your thing.
Just wanted to say that I am grateful for your quality content and reasonably priced plans and membership. I am not a novice woodworker and could figure much of it out myself, but the time you have saved me is well worth your prices even though what I will make will be substantially different than your plans aesthetically. I probably would have sent you some funds based on your free content alone if you didn't have premium options on your site. Thanks again, you seem like a swell guy.
I appreciate that!
people always want to see you succeed, until you do. then they want to tear you down
Your viewpoint on work ethic is SPOT. ON!!!!!! Thank you for explaining this to people.
People are always going to be dissatisfied with something or another. The thing is they have options, they have choices they're not being forced to watch your content or buy anything you're selling. Keep doing you.
The harder you work...the luckier you get! ;-)
You got that right!
Also, apparently, you and David both have nice voices. I like to listen to you guys talking and working while I am working. I get entertainment and get smarter.
Hi Mike, love your channel (and your brother's channel, and Geek Bits as well.) As creators, we all have to deal with the trolls and haters, unfortunately. When I find content that I like, I will usually drop a kind word in the comment section and a thumbs-up. If I find content that I don't like or don't agree with, I keep my comments to myself. It can be so discouraging when a commenter dumps on you for something as minor as a mispronounced word, or less-than-perfect audio. A lot of us create our videos for fun, we are not professionals, but simply want to share our knowledge and love of a particular subject with other like-minded people.
I enjoyed this. Back to Geoff at the beginning, if he subscribes to premium I don’t think he has to watch adverts! Some of those were just mental!
You're a good guy, Mike! For every wacky, weird, dumb, mean comment, there's hundreds and thousands of us who love your content!
those cash register sound effects made me deaf
EDIT: the other sound effects/video clips too
I know this vid is kind of old but 8bitguy needs to make a “reading the comments” video!
Mike, I love these Crazy E-Mails. Plesse do more! These made my bust a gut laughing! I enjoy your videos!
I have seen those "random words" comments on more websites, not just here. I have a theory that they're used as a distributed storage mechanism. Encode a file with LOTS of error correction code, cut in small chunks, add some chunk index, replace each byte with a word, and post many copies of each message as comments in lots of places.
Seriously, you do get some funny ones. One new style that I've seen in the past year are the porn commenters putting emoji's in their comments. I've had to add the "kissy lips" emoji to my blocked words list in YT Studio to try and cut down on those.
Nothing to do with the comments, but I've just seen Armatron in the background... WOW, that takes me back.... I'd forgotten that even existed and it was A-MAZ-ING.... well, it was actually, probably a bit cheap and crummy, but let's not mess with the memories. :)
Can you please help me build a 1972 Gremlin? I'll let you put an ad on the side of it. 😜 Seriously to the ad people, get Pihole.
Hey could you call my gran and help with her washing machine installation. I watched one of your monetized videos once, I mean I did have an ad blocker installed so I didn't actually see the ad but I still watched it and might of even given it a like. So erm yeah if you can call her ASAP because you know you owe me a favor now right!.
Just curious if offered, would you ever consider being a paid consultant for an arcade project if it was toward say designing specific cabinet plans, what would you likely charge as a rate?
Great vid Mike, keep em coming! The sit down talking ones are nice to listen to when in a chill mood. Also appreciate the financial independence advice. Been trying to follow some generic rules from the FIRE crowd. Stuff like trying to sell most of my junk and only put money into things that can generate income or wellness; bad health aint a joke!
Great video. Typical that those that won't work hard, will have a go at you. Because you have done things, they don't like it :)
I think this is part of why alot of youtubers don't really read much of the comments. I think one of these videos once in a while is fun, but I think the more you do them the more stupid comments you will get because people will want them read out loud.
Here is one for you, I just want to come visit the set/shop one day.
We can arrange that.
This Jeff is grateful that you provide free content on UA-cam and I believe monetizing your talent is a good thing. If you are "rich" or have "many possessions" then good for you I hope you find pleasure in them.
Love it!...The only easy day was yesterday.
also, It is enjoyable to watch you build or work on things, I like that type of video
Keep doing what your doing. Don’t let the critics get to you.
