Here's how I identify priorities, I ask myself a simple question.
If I knew I were going to the grave in 5 minutes which of my choices would I exercise?
If you had the option of any work would you choose to work or prayer to God during that last 5 minutes.
There really is something extra powerful about saying a prayer out loud. Years ago when I was suffering from extreme anxiety, I would lie in bed at times and please for the Lord to help me sleep. I found that if I got out of bed and onto my knees and said a "real" prayer, it made a difference how I felt afterwards. It was usually after those prayers that I would find enough relief to sleep.
The other day I unknowingly dropped my credit card after I left my car and headed into the the store. When I realized it wasn't in my hand (my mask was so that thre me off), I turned to retrace my steps. I searched he ground carefully as I walked back the my car and hoped it was in the seat since it was nowhere to be found on the ground. I searched the seats and my purse and became very upset. Then I finally took a breath, calmed down, and said an out loud prayer. I felt I should calmly take each step of what I did before I originally left the car. After that, I carefully scanned underneath my vehicle and then turned back toward the store to scan the parking lot again. There, right in the middle of my path, clear as possible, was my card. All the prayers I said in my mind as I had first done when realizing I had lost my card were not enough. That attention, reverence, and extra small ACT to show and exercise our FAITH just has some extra powerful way to connect to heaven and receive power and answers. Prayer is so powerful! God does hear them all! Sometimes those out loud prayers are extra powerful and I think its for OUR sake, not His sake.
I live just outside of St. George, which means a 30 min or so drive to and from work. I've spent many of those half hours home in vocal prayer. It's one of the only times I'm alone, and I get to think privately. Some of those prayers are the best. Thanks for sharing this message Elder Holland

I love to listen to Elder Holland's messages-he is so genuine. I am grateful for his stirring message this morning. What a wonderful reminder to pour out our hearts to our Heavenly Father and Savior and purposely carve out time to connect with Them through sincere prayer. It is so important to show our gratitude for Their love and blessings and I feel we are able to get to know Them better when we are purposeful in our communication with Them.

It is so true, when I pray out loud and say the words...it is so much more powerful and effective. I am also guilty of those half hearted prayers. Definitely will try to use my time more wisely when I pray.
I Love this so much❤ prayer is important. I started saying my prayers out loud and I feel comfort, like Angels are listening.

This is an amazing testimony thank you Elder Holland! I do an evening prayer when I am spent and exhausted and yeah I end up sending a half hearted prayer to my our heavenly father. Thank you for helping me to change this habit! I know that prayer truly has power and when said vocally has a true power to it! I know that prayer allows us to always be able to communicate with our heavenly father and that he always listens! With the power of prayer we can HEAR HIM, our savior, in our lives! I so testify in the name of Jesus Christ Amen!

Right on time to correct my own habit of waiting until the end of the day for evening prayer and a good reminder to say the words out loud. Sometimes I talk to Him while I'm walking out doors, well as long as no one else is around. Now that we are masked it even easier.
What time of day am I most alert and ready to share my most important thoughts, feelings, concerns, needs and desires with God (or any of my loved ones? When are they most ready?)? 🧠💪🏻💭
I like how he kept adding beyond the "muscular prayer" we seek to have, to remember to not shy from the continual prayer in our hearts too. ❤️
It is real true and important to make out time and be say the words loud and clear.

Moving my evening prayer up to between 6:40 PM and 7 PM usually about 10 minutes has been helpful because like Elder Holland said, it's harder to be coherent when so tired just before sleep.
Vocal prayer has been strongly stressed to my mind this year. It has been a great source of strength. Words have power. This principle is taught throughout the scriptures and by modern prophets.
Yes, it’s too easy to just go through the motions when you’re exhausted, and not really communicate (which also involves listening).
I can certainly do better with my prayers, I think its a common problem among the church and we can all work on it.
Thank you Elder Holand! This is everything because it reminds me of all the current lessons that I'm learning. I am glad to have the Holy Ghost through prayer. I am thankful for the deep influence that always comes through those experiences. I decide for myself that I'm willing to pray more deeply through the lessons that are taught me that I can honor my Father in Heaven and learn to hear His beloved son in each day. --Thank you.

Reminded me of the prayers of my father growing up, there is times that as we kneel in a family prayer and hear my dad crying to the Lord in faith for each of his kids an open my eyes thinking the our Lord was there in the room close to my father strength him.

I am so incredibly grateful for this man. He speaks on topics that are so relevant to so many people. I appreciate that he has so many times spoken about mental health, addictions, etc. It brings a little peace knowing that God is aware of all of the mental health issues plaguing us today and I know, with full conviction, that Elder Holland is His chosen spokesperson for that.

洗禮沒多久的有一天，弟兄的同事週一沒來上班，下班後弟兄代表公司過去關心，發現有異樣，趕緊請警察和開鎖的來開門，弟兄打電話給我說會晚回來，他們疑似一氧化碳中毒。
當時我正要用餐，很想幫他們禱告又覺得……神會聽我這個微小的人的禱告嗎？電視打不開，我就跪在床上為他們做出聲的祈禱，還沒說阿們，就聽到電視突然打開說: 「如你所願」 嚇了我一跳！說完阿們 我看電視沒有剛剛聽到的聲音，也沒有接得上的內容。
我想這是我第一次為別人禱告，而神給了我回答。
神真的會聽微小如我的祈禱，並回答我們。

Every time I hear a general authority speak I like to picture Jesus speaking to us through them. And I think about Him being down here on Earth in person speaking to us directly and giving us the peace that We all need. He lived a perfect life when He was on Earth and every single day I hope and pray for Armageddon to come because I for one AM READY!
Hey Elder Holland🤍Prayer is a great part of my alone time. I enjoy my alone time. My alone time is not because I am single, divorced, or widowed. It is not because I do not have children or grandchildren. It is not because my parents and grandparents are deceased. The Holy Spirit is able to testify of my alone time because I am able to HearHim and connect with Him👻Sincerely🖖😇

Not the least is the opposition. Just because your prayers are not answered, just because there is opposition to what you prefer or hope or ask or desire, there is a reminder that opposition to prayer, both saying it as well as seeing it come to fulfillment, always comes to oppose things that truly matter.
I think that I'am recieving answers but, I'am not relizing that I have those answers or how god is talking to me. I often get these feelings that I'am too far away but I know that we cana lways speak to him even when we are unworthy. We can become more clean when we repent daily as Prophet Russel Nelson has taught us to do daily.
Even when we are attending temples, We must be worthy to enter. The lord has said that no unclean thing shall not enter his holy house. We all have the oppertunity to repent and grow spirtually and increase our knowledge and testimony of Jesus Christ. Through the Atonement of the Savior, Jesus Christ has made it possiable for us to return back to heavenly father for eternity. I think that there are multiple ways that I hear and feel the spirit, One is that I get direct directions to my answers if I pray sincerly and when I'am in a quiet place, two, I often recieve Joy when I'am reading the scriptures.
Love this. Discussion around the practical application is helpful. Not rigid, I know it's the principles that matter most but it helps to get some ideas and generate new ways of connection.

As there should be a prayer of Thanksgiving and a prayer of praise, we should also talk to our Father in Heaven and say those things which are truly on our hearts. I have found that when I say even my most selfish things he speaks peace to my heart and when I(of course he is always ready) am ready he gives me the understanding I am needing even when it is not what I want to hear but it is what I needed to hear. I love my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ. They are always there for me but most of the time it's me that gets in my own way.
I don't think the theme "Hear Him" is creepy a distraction from any meaningful message the Mormons may share.
Is the first presidency going to make a statement to support the constitution while it hangs by a thread? That would be inspiring.
