This has been done before way back in the past. I have a distant cousin, a white man, who lived in the 1800s. He lived with a black woman, but couldn't marry her as it was against the law back then in NC. One year the census take came around, and he told them he was black, so they wrote it down. It's in official government records, and I have a photo of him with his companion. He is white as I am, and she's black.
