Are we supposed to forgive her student loans even though she didn't even go to school?
There are probably a lot of kids like her. They blew their student loans on renting apartments and having a great time, and now they don’t want to pay back the money.
I live in Greensburg Pa, where this happened. This girl had a great family and life. But she’s being charged with more charges than drug dealers and child abusers. This girl has issues.
yeah i kind of feel bad for her and I am not usually one to let this kind of stuff slide but I dont know i just cant see screwing her life up even more with jail time at this point
There was a guy in Utah a few years back who killed his wife because she was about to find out he didn't attend a couple of years of medical school when she thought he was going, and she was starting to find out and rather than admit his stupidity he killed her. The world just keeps getting dumber. But, as a parent, I always told my kids if you don't want to go to college, or any post-graduate stuff, don't hesitate to tell me. My son continued on to become a doctor, my daughter dropped out after the first semester, and both are loved; both are successful; both have no regrets because they had whatever support they needed. Kids need to take responsibility for their failures/lack of initiative, but also need to know they have their parent's love in whatever choice is made.
Look up the case of Jean-Claude Romand. Even crazier.
I remember that incident clearly.
I'm sure I've read quite a few cases of husbands k-lling their wives because they were about to be caught in a lie like that. Like, he would actually rather his wife be de-d than feel embarrassed in front of her. And it's got nothing to do with how supportive she may or may not have been. She was never given the chance. It's just like that quote. "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will k-ll them."
A lot of people should take responsibility for their actions. There was also a young man that murdered and dismembered his parents when they were going to find out. So sad.

I went in the Marine Corps right out of high school. And I had a bumper sticker on my car that said "My parents think I'm in college". But it was just a joke!

Keep an eye on her for mental illness. I was engaged to a woman who did the same thing; six months later, she committed suicide.

Not necessarily true. My older son was getting financial aid and support from his mother and step father and myself while I was serving in Iraq. He hadn't been to a single class for a yr and a half. Just living and partying in the dorm. His mother would pick him up from the dorm for holidays and even attended a parents day etc. He's a bit on "the spectrum " and can lie with ease. So no suspicion until the school finally sent a letter saying he could not re-enroll. When questioned the school said he is over 18 so they ha e no legal obligation to report to them. They were just collecting the$$$ for as long as they could. East Stroudsburg University.

@@michaelpettit9706 So the school allowed him to live in the dorm without being enrolled? And you paid for his classes without getting a signature from the teacher about his attendance. (Yes that is a thing, we turn them in for the GI Bill every semester or else they cut us off) Sounds like you guys were real close.
@@tobybigham4196 Is it possible the son lied about living in the dorm? Check out Chandler Halderson. Loving parents trust their son. His father finally called the registrar himself. Chandler shot him in the back dismembered his body, then killed his sweet mother when she got home from work, dismembered her body and scattered their body parts. They found one of his parents' skulls in the family fireplace. They loved & trusted him.
@tobybigham4196 first he was getting loans his mother cosigned for. I agree a little more due diligence was warranted. Second as I stated he was over 19, legally an adult so the schools contract was with him not with his parents. Third as I also mentioned I deployed to Iraq for 22 months right after I dropped him off for his first semester which he mostly attended but apparently all down hill from there. It happens more than you think. Maybe not as bad as my son but it does. Especially kids will spend Grant money on parties, cars, etc. Then come up short for school and living expenses. And yes he was living in the dorm, he was fully enrolled and paid $$ but he would almost never show up for class.
Don't know how he got away with it but he did.
Holy crap. I didn't realize the danger I was in when I drove the four hours to my fiancé's graduation ceremony only to learn, upon arrival, that he wouldn't be graduating that day because he'd failed to complete SEVERAL of his courses and he just hadn't had the nerve to tell me or his family (also driving a number of hours to attend)... It became a pattern. I got out alive. ;) But I didn't realize this was something college students "did" and had to come up with elaborate hoaxes to hide...how bizarre.

For awhile at my job, you had to put the reason for calling in sick. Diarrhea was always my go to. I'm sure many others reason. They dropped it later.
Did the parents ever request a report card? Did they never visit? To me the parents were stupid too to keep sending money without some kind of progress report.

@@JinglesRafael If you are spending your money on your kids' college, you have every right to ask for some kind of progress. Just remember that as a college student, that student may be better at falsifying documents to "show" progress.
If you are not spending any money on your kids' college, you have no right to ask for progress reports. I have two kids in college, attending community college until they are able to transfer to a university.
it's weird they didn't visit & attend college events. 1 kid was far from us but that was included in our budget. it's sad.

When the subject of grades came up he said he was an adult and he was doing well not to worry. Great little liar he was!

I'm attending a university right now and sometimes it is brutal and scary. I am in my late 50's and am also a veteran and sometimes homework can pile up. However, I have to keep moving forward, because if I don't, I won't accomplish anything. It is strange that she didn't understand the ramifications of her decision to drop out. Eventually she was going to be confronted with reality. There can still be a bright side of this situation for her. She can attain her college degree without any distractions while in prison.
My son is attending Dalton state university and we are so proud. He just completed his second year and is debt free. It can be done!

Grandson had to go to Sonic last week. The hamburgers were messy but the taste was much better than other fast food places which we do try to stay away from. If yours have employees like this young lady, no wonder you question the food. Remember the young mad that committed suicide due to not being able to face his parents due to not graduation at AM this past winter. He was taking classes.
