I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of Ryuichi Sakamoto, a true icon of music and culture, whose legacy will continue to inspire and enrich the world for generations to come. Rest in peace, Master.
I was really fortunate to see his live back in 1994 in Hong Kong, when he was still a super star with untouchable charisma then. Now I see a humble man with a lot of wisdom to share with the public. I just wish he can live as long as possible
It was a real shock to learn the news. My thoughts for his family, and friends, especially his co-collaborator Mr Sylvian. I will never forget the day I stayed behind for the credits in The Revenant just to see Sakamoto's name pop up. Then I cried, hearing about his cancer just a few weeks previous.
a lot of modern musicians are new beethovens - from brian wilson to frank ocean, brian eno and kevin shields, kanye west or paul mccartney. There is so many similarities to their characters, views, even life stories...
@@hansmemling7605I bet you can't even comprehend the profound subliminal majesticity of Sakamoto's music let alone play them. It's a shame retards like you exist in this society. :(

The future of music is what people want to hear... I believe that Trap/Phonk/Rap/Wave type of music will stay for a while, will just evolve into different shapes
Unfortunately he has recently been diagnosed with cancer, however I’m not sure if he plans to put his career on hold. Here’s hoping he makes a full recovery.
I would be so thrilled to hear this man speak for like an hour. Not only is what he says incredibly thoughtful and true in many ways, but his manners, tone and gestures are really relaxing. Love him so much
When i listen to modern popular trap music, it reminds me of experimental music that Sakamoto made decades ago. Now that type of music is mainstream. He accurately predicted the future.
there are artist better than beethoven who use modern technology, xul for example, but 99.999% of people dont understand new music, just like Beethoven wasnt understood by most of the ppl back then
you are talking about musical products. of course you can see degragadation if you hold the belief that the beatles had some sort of supremacy and a white american girl is inferior. but you cannot hear the degradation because it is not a degradation. the music hits more people than ever and strikes chords within them, and it is produced to do so, and this is a good thing, despite you insisting on being cynical. grow up
people like you really make me sick. the ideas you share are conpletely antithetical to the concept of art. its like you have no clue what creativity is for, like you believe people should only express themselves if it allows them to br placed above them. what a depressing life full of nothing but mindless games
No Sr. theres a big misunderstanding of master Beethoven, to use his work for this tech music statements: Beethoven was religious, and tought that his music was related to the Creator, he "listened" the trees, the river, the leeves, the air, and music for him was a state of mind full of purpose... Virtual reality?, linear digital sound?, screens?, instead of the depth of a cello, of a counterbass?... plastics inear highs instead a violin, a piccolo?... I really dont think so, from the botton of my heart... music, is living vibration in a time line, just like the human being, and none will take that away...
he said all that jokingly friend. though composers from the romantic era and backwards shouldn't be placed within these weird speculations of "what if they live in the time of digital technology????" when our era is so unworldy different from those periods in time
@@plow2151 when I see that kind of "jokingly" words regarding deep art, I inmediately think that is another moron tryin to cancel real... i just think there is a dangerous path with those statements and ways... salud amigo!
He offers the challenge of what music is. He offers that its not possible to answer or that each answer is from an individual. I would offer to him a kind of scientific approach. What common aspects does the concept of music have within the minds of general people. What does music then mean to the individual involved as a listener or creator of such a medium. What explains the survival of such a tradition despite many an industrial mechanising social modifiers which today sees many musicians as near homeless aloofs.? The answer is there and of universal truth and anyones struggle with such a question is probably of the in-between of aftistic life and conventional life. I offer this with real honesty. How can a musical creator struggle with how to explain the concept of nusic yet have gifted control over tye form!? Are there blind doctors in this world? That would be the equivalent of such inquiry. The guy should speak about his own journey and stop worrying about a public that could have neglected him as much as they have rejoiced him. Tell me im wrong? Any other vrave comments below btw?
Sad thing is that I feel like AI will make music less interesting. Obviously there will be a need for organic, human artists. But I feel like AI will be like rap, and edm music. It'll make it far too easy to create a masterpiece, so that it won't really seem like one. I don't know if anyone gets what I'm rambling about, but it's just something as a musician that I'm worried about as technology progresses. I hope in the future, music is just as if not more meaningful to people.
I come from the EDM and Hip Hop scene as well as listening to most any varieties of Hard Rock, be it Blues-Heavy Metal, Punk, Metalcore etc. What I would say, is that most genres stagnate. Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is the basis of many, many EDM remakes/songs. Daft Punk, while *_definitely_* over hyped, are a very good example of hybridisation in music. If you listen to them religiously, you might understand. There are some very good independent musicians. Most of the music I listen to in the Hip-Hop/Rap scene is made by unsigned artists. What I would say is that it’s evolving, and what is _mainstream_ is not indicative of the whole scene. While not my thing, a lot of artists are opting for 2-5 minute non stop verses about life or whatever the subject matter happens to be. Gone are the old days of the 3-6 “staple” types and styles of tracks. I listen to most types of rap and hip hop and, in my opinion, the scene is definitely in decline but there _are_ still people yet to be found. Believe it or not, a lot of people dig the “mistakes” people make in their playing. One of the Danzig(?) drummers wore all these bracelets and it added to the percussion of the playing. Phil Taylor and Scott Raner come to mind, for me, in terms of under appreciated drummers who, while well loved in many circles, made some pretty noticeable mistakes and changes in playing. Sometimes it’s almost a good thing. Kinda makes it unique and might even be why I like them. You’d probably be right in saying there’ll be a noticeable impact and decline, but you gotta have faith!
The future of music will be through AI, you won’t need to learn how to play music by hand, only by mind. The AI will be able to read the brain waves of the person and convert it into sound. The most beautiful minds will be the one who make the best music
