Thanks for sharing. It’s nice to see an old timer with interest in the FJ like myself. I’m 66 years old retired and I love these Toyota FJS. I just bought a 2012 Toyota Fj in mint condition yesterday ❤
I’ve pretty much done all those upgrades. USB was easy and very handy. I love my dash cam! Crisp clear video and sound. Especially love it off-roading! That way I can use my DJI Osmo action cam in different directions.
I think you are right on with the 5 best mods. My 6th, while not technically a vehicle mod, would be to replace the factory jack with whatever your preferred jack is. HD bottle jack, Hi-Lift, exhaust etc.
Changed the tires to Firestone Destination ATs - Installed the Tyger sliders, changed the interior bulbs to LEDs and installed 5 USB ports so far. Now that I have a roof rack, a light bar up top is on the list of things to do.
Yea, you're gonna have a hard time recreating this. It was a decorative, POS bar that came with the truck. Took me a few years to figure out how to re-engineer it. ua-cam.com/video/guPYVn-pqn8/v-deo.html
Off-road tires. ✔ Two light bars. ✔ Sliders. ✔ USB switch replacement. ✔ LED interior bulbs. ✔ I hadn't considered the LED interior bulbs - thanks for bringing it up. You forgot the 'penis' style front lights!
the bumper bar is a rough country light bar, Overpriced but they have the specific bracket mount to get the bar flush into the FJ bumper and excellent customer service ua-cam.com/video/n5nnginCoVQ/v-deo.html I tinted the bar as I didn't need 2 white light bars. The Yellow is great in the fog and Snow ua-cam.com/video/n5nnginCoVQ/v-deo.html Thanks for watching, Robert
Any tips for removing the plastic cover over the map lights. It was easy to replace the bulbs for the lights over the back seat and in the cargo area but the cover over the map lights in front felt like it was going to break before coming off. Is there a trick?
After I bought this, and a bunch of homework I had my mind made up to do the Body Mount Chop. I have 285/75/16 with a 3 inch lift. At first I had BFGKO2's, and never rubbed, my current Falken Wildpeaks have a ever so minor rub on the front plastic liner at full lock. So to answer your question, Get the tires you want, but plan on a BMC, Its not difficult to cut with a cut off wheel tool. Most people weld on a plate to cover the cut, but honestly its just cosmetic. Enjoy the FJ
Uncle Fjester is the best, rough around the edges and doesn't care what anyone thinks. I've watched alot of FJ people, but you sir are the best. Keep posting videos brother!!!
@@UncleFjester can you tell me what you would offer? I’m going there tomorrow, the CarMax said it’s fair deal. I’m trying to post the offer page, ugh technology, I just want a ranch and a porch swing lol
Prices are crazy today, Avoid penetrating rust on frame, surface rust is normal. Buyin used is like playing poker, you got the cards, and need to read the seller and bluff. CarMax wants volume for their monthly sale reports and uses algorithms to set prices. The longer they have had the FJ the more likely they'll go low. Good Luck!
Hey Larry, Previous owner had lights installed, but they were decoration, took me a year to re-enginner a new light bar. ua-cam.com/video/guPYVn-pqn8/v-deo.html But your answer is the wire goes thru the A-Pillar, into the base mount of the roof rack then into the tubes. No wires exposed

That is awesome!
Call me crazy but I’m 70 years old and six feet tall. I sleep in the back of my FJ all the time. Pretty comfy I might add.
Thanks for sharing. Which fuse would be best to use for this? Preferably one that turns on and off with the ignition. Thanks from the Netherlands.

@@UncleFjester HA HA HA HA! I forgot, bad me!!!
Great video Fjester. Where did you get the roof rack crossbar that your light bar is mounted to? I'd love to have it for my diy light cube bar build.

Did you use the same light bar on the bumper? How did you wire the bumper light? Which film did you use?
Thanks enjoyed the video

Its been 3 years, so I can't recall, but I don't remember it being tough
Is the aluminum bar you mounted your light bar to DIY, or can you buy it?
Yes and No? ua-cam.com/video/guPYVn-pqn8/v-deo.html
your worsted mod video is so funny, new to fj. so 285/70 AT tyreclear on stock suspension?

Hi Uncle, happy I found you. I’m going to look at some tomorrow. Is FWD better then RWD?
I think these are only 2wd or 4wd, get 4wd only
@@UncleFjester thank you Uncle F
