      @@sorro_tek9599 Depending on what you've done in the last 100k, I'd suggest the basics - spark plugs, air filter (or clean it if a K+N type), fuel filter, oil and filter change, radiator fluid change/flush, radiator hose kit, transmission filter and new fluid, rear differential fluid replacement, power steering fluid replacement, brake fluid replacement. Check my Explorer playlist as I cover a bunch of this.

    I must that that strong red and the blacked out windows with some black accents make this ride look really sharp. Especially this clean. With Adrenalin wheels even better.

    Where did you get that LED display for explorer?

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  2 роки тому

      If you are talking about on the dashboard, it comes with the LED readout from the factory in the early 2000's models. If you are talking about the radio, I had that installed at a local radio/tint shop that also installed a backup camera and Viper remote starter when I first purchased this a few years ago.

    If only i had the v6, i love how changing your spark plugs is such a non chalant thing to do in the v6. Meanwhile if you sneeze or fart with the v8 while your installing them your liable to snap every spark plug in the block and strip all 2 threads in the process.

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  2 роки тому +1

      Now that made me chuckle. I had a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer a few years ago with the 4.6 V8 engine. It is tight to get in there and change the spark plugs. Much more involved than the 4.0 V6 for sure. A trick is to add anti-seize on the spark plugs and also add some dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug boots to help remove them in the future. But you are right, those 2 valve heads are tricky. I've found if you get the engine hot and drip a little ATF (trans fluid) along with some PB blaster into each spark plug hole, then use your socket to just break the plug loose about 1/4 turn. Let it soak for about 30 minutes. Then the plugs come out nice and it cleans off any debris at the same time. Should prevent any galled threads too.

    3:55 scotty Kilmer taught me just to put the silicone grease on the coil pack instead of the spark plug that way when it pushes down it will have a layer of lubricant

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  3 роки тому

      Either way will accomplish the same result.

    My 03 explorer has the oil leak in the same spot. I tore it apart and put new valve cover gaskets on and today it's still leaking there. I think it's coming from the PCV valve behind there just around the corner. I don't recall if there was a gasket for that that I replaced, but should oil be coming from there?

    I got a v6 shoc and did not use it for 2 months , now when I start it is has a missing engine, I replaced the plugs still no joy. Mostly from idle there is hesitation but after that is all okay ..

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  Рік тому +1

      What spark plugs did you use? Sometimes the wrong plug can cause a misfire. I ran into that when I tried using a Platinum XP plug, my Explorer didn't like it. Also have you changed the fuel filter in the last year?

    • @MyWorld-sy9el
      @MyWorld-sy9el Рік тому +1

      @@98saleen they are same as last time motorcraft AGF22FM finewire platinum. The fuel filter was clogged, I changed it also the fuel pump I did change just for the sake of it ... both new still... I xchanged the mass air flow sensor, and the throttle body and TPS, from my other explorer ... no joy

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  Рік тому

      @@MyWorld-sy9el It's very possible you have an injector issue. Did you pull any OBD-II codes or do you have any check engine lights? See if you have any codes or pending codes such as for a lean condition. This could be simple as new O2 sensors or worst case, the injectors need cleaning and/or replacement. Not uncommon for the injector to flow less or have an issue and exhibit low rpm fueling issues which can cause idle and off/idle problems.

      @MyWorld-sy9el Рік тому +1

      @@98saleen I did remove the Injectors and cleaned, but can not be sure they had a good spray pattern, but were all spraying. Maybe on second thought one might have been leaky or just has residue .. there are no engine light , yellow display. I have a scanner but don't know how to use it without code or engine light . I will check on if it has a oxygen sensor since the cat was removed for this part of the world

    I have the same one, but its chugging gas like crazy... my friend who i bought it from says he thinks its from a misfire. What do you think could be the cause? And how could I fix it?

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  2 роки тому

      If it is a misfire, you should feel it in how it drives. Does it skip or feel like it loses power? Does it vibrate or spit-back when accelerating? Typically new spark plugs, spark plug wires, and a new coil should fix 99% of the issue, but the crank sensor can also contribute to some gremlin issues. Get a code scanner and see if there are any codes present or pending that might lead you to suspect anything else such as other sensors or lean/rich conditions. Finally replace the fuel filter and put fresh gas in it.

    If the motor blows I think you should get a junkyard 4.6 2v

    • @98saleen
      @98saleen  3 роки тому +1

      Had an Explorer years ago with the 4.6 2v engine it was nice. However this 4.0 V6 was rebuilt a couple years ago by the previous owner so it should be fine for a long time.
