Went to New York for Christmas, flew BA (on my last ever 747 flight) on 25 December, had a great time, lots of trees and menorahs about, very mild weather, only shame was I had to be home for work on 31 December. Hope to visit again one day ! Then COVID struck.
Hill Street Blues never mentioned the city name but was based on Chicago and New York. Law and Order (and various off-shoots) takes place in New York. As a New Yorker I don't care for Times Square either in daytime or night time. If you think this is bad, you should have seen it in the 1970's.
No, I didn't enjoy that trip along Times Square Lee. That was my idea of absolute hell but thanks for the heads up, I will definitely make sure I never make the trip to New York.
We loved Times Square we stayed at the paramount hotel just off Times Square for my wife’s 60 birthday back in 2017. Great video Lee. Lest go Mets 🥎☃️☃️☃️☃️
Thanks much for this interesting upload. I lived in the Big Apple back when Times Square was grubby and tacky and tawdry and pestiferous - exceedingly pestiferous, where suppurative lowlifes such as I could congregate without incurring either the baleful eye of the dutiful minions of the law or the indignant wrath of the affronted citizenry who had no choice but to traverse the sordid and unsavory district that made Sodom and Gomorrah look like a Butlins' fun-in-the-sun holiday as they hustled their bustle to put as much distance between themselves and the area as they could manage. I wouldn't want to be there now. Glad I got out when I did. Briefly lived in the UK back when, like the Big Apple, it was worth living in, but then the worm started chewing up the apple and I got out. No regrets. Lots of nostalgic memories, though.
Hill Street Blues was Chicago..........................Chicago Chicago Bochco reportedly intended this fictional city to be a hybrid of Chicago, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. The show's opening and closing and cut-scenes were filmed in Chicago.
Hi Lee, I have to share something with you. Two weeks ago I had emergency surgery here in San Antonio ( I'm from Liverpool but have lived here for 7 years) for partial gallbladder removal I also had pancreatitis (ouch!) Anyway as I was coming around in the recovery room I could hear myself saying "the macmaster" and mumbling something 🤣🤣🤣 I hope this gave you a laugh Lee. Happy Christmas to you and yours xx
Some people visit New York and that's all they see is Times Square. They stay at a hotel in Midtown. They go to Broadway shows and eat at the restaurants in the area. There is more to NYC than that. There's even more to NYC than just Manhattan. But you know this Lee.
Wasn't there a series with a country cop on a horse relocated to New York or was it somewhere else, seem to remember something like that back in 60s or 70s.
Could you film the Dakota buildings and/or John Lennon memorial in Central Park if you're in the area Lee? Always wanted to go there to pay my respects. Love all your vlogs but the New York ones are great. The very best ones are the ones with Silver Fox in though. New York is defo on my bucket list!
In the words of the Monty Python four Yorkshirepersons sketch - luxury!!!! Come to the Christmas market in York on a weekend, no need to walk, just take your feet of the ground and get carried along in the river of people, lethal.🤨
Hi m8 I think i got the start of demenia, i thought the dustman were coming last monday, but they came the week before. well your anly 5 years younger that me lol. I need an MOT.
Streets of New York at night reminded me of the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong when I stayed there. Almost claustrophobic with the high rise buildings at all sides but bright lights everywhere. Not to my taste, too much of a country boy lol.
Hill Street Blues was in a fictional, unnamed Mid-West metropolis but everyone knew it was Chicago.
KOJAK. The best cop show ever. WHO LOVES YER BABY. DAVE
Thank you Lee 👍👍😊🏴❤️
My worst nightmare . Far too busy but thanks for sharing Lee. X
Nothing wrong with Times Square it's a perfectly safe and fantastic place to be !!
Nice video. Talking about New York police dramas. You forgot perhaps the best one; NYPD Blue with Dennis Franz 🙂
Hi Lee great vlog. Love New York it’s looks a great city to visit.
Nice to see the 'concrete barriers of peace' everywhere.
This is a “tame” Times Square, should have been there in the 80s…wild would be an understatement.
Great vid. More of this, please. Enjoy!

I worked right in Times Square at the old Reuters building for years. Used to drive me nuts, so crowded!
Great video Lee but I am not into all the pushing and shoving of crowds like that too old for that 💩 👍👍
Strange how in my 20s loved it now at 53 I’d rather stay in and watch tv lol
It looks lovely with all the lights and the amount of police that's around . I love Dwayne Johnson he is a fantastic actor xxx❤️
My close cousin was on Hill Street Blues for 3 seasons. Based at San Francisco
City in California
Cool.

I can't think of anything worse than going there lol it would drive me crazy
Hey Macmaster there's definitely some sights to see there and thanks for a great video 😊
Couldn't cope with that. Sensory overload...
NYPD Blue - great series, still watchable now.
That's why I live in southern California more space!!!❤
I hate cities in the first place, Times Square takes all that grubbiness and bile and puts it in an Elmo suit.😅
Let's go! I haven't been to NYC in a decade!!!❤
I got mugged in Times Square in broad daylight.
The NYCPD were exemplary.
However I will not be returning.
When you are in New York.. you have to see it.. but what a crowd.. the last time I was there was in september 2017
As it's a hellhole it's time you left!
I’m walking here. Midnight cowboy
Time Square absolutely carnage and mayhem.
4:23 I've always wanted to do that!
It's 24 years since I was in NY, Times Square looks mad compared to how it was then
Barney Miller
The best one
Merry Christmas and happy birthday Lee ❤🎄

Lee Davey quote "I love New York.....any season". Also Lee Davey titles this video "Get me out of this godforsaken Hellhole. I was a nervous wreck!"
Love NYC. Just not Times Square.
Great insight Lee👍
Great Video Lee, don't think New York my cup of tea
You are funny Lee ❤ your videos always make me laugh even if I'm having a rough day ❤

Much better day spent walking the high line glad I avoided Time Square.👍

All the celebrities there...King Kong.....Big Ted.…...and errr.......Elfvis? 😂
Why, why, why, whats the fascination.
Wasn't there a series with a country cop on a horse relocated to New York or was it somewhere else, seem to remember something like that back in 60s or 70s.
Aye. Was it Dennis Weaver, he rode about on his horse. I'll Google it. 😀👍
Think it was McCloud
What’s more shocking is that the amount of people with their heads in their phones! Beep beep.
just reminds me of a film i just watched THEY LIVE oh my
Omg that's made my Christmas the silver fox is back 😊😊😊
He's not I'm afraid. He was busy at work. :( x
@TheMacMaster no that's ruined my Christmas now,maybe if I ask santa 😆
Those young ladies were rather underdressed for winter.😂
Too many people for me lee 👍
Hi Lee just realised why our energy bills are so high we must be subbing N.Y.😂❤
Pick pockets in the uk too lee, called Rachel and kier. New York vids are amazing, great camera work.😊
You will have to establish a budget for body guarding..... If you continue to visit the hell holes on our pianet.
Undecided where to stay in New York first time visiting. Was looking at Time Square area hotel, but after seeing this I'll give it a miss !
Upper East side. Or stay in Weehaken and get the ferry over.

I wanted to see Macys
Brooklyn Nine Nine, Kojak and NYPD Blue, just a few more i can remember.
Hi m8 I think i got the start of demenia, i thought the dustman were coming last monday, but they came the week before. well your anly 5 years younger that me lol. I need an MOT.
Looked very colourful with all them Neon signs and screens. Wouldn’t like the electric bill though🤦🏻
Streets of New York at night reminded me of the Mong Kok district of Hong Kong when I stayed there. Almost claustrophobic with the high rise buildings at all sides but bright lights everywhere.
Not to my taste, too much of a country boy lol.
Lee should call in new york equivalent of Wetherspoons lol
Cagney Lacey 😊😊
Seriously, that place would do my head in completely. How can anyone enjoy being amongst that lot?
Plus all the cars hooting etc. insane
Law and Order is New York. Looks pretty, but I couldn't cope with it these days. Too old.
Bit different than Mansfield
Thank God you're not a Health Care Insurance CEO walking those NYC streets.
That was sad ❤️
Love your channel & where you go to waiting for the MacMaster travel channel next 😂
It's to busy for me and them car horns pipping all the time, but it is nice at night time
I can only think of Kojak also in NY
If yeah smell what the macmaster is cookin
That, My friend, is the antithesis of all things Human and Natural. No, no, no.
Nope not for me. The roads and pavements not just look so clean compared to the UK but look in far better condition.
Remember you want to move back there MacMaster
Haha good point !
Hoboken. 👍🏼
Hill St Blues, LA (no not Luton Airport!) the clue's in the title!
Someone else suggested Chicago...... I will see what I can research....
Law and Order franchises are all based in NYC.
Law and order 🤘🤘
