I'm a retired electrical engineer. I have owned 3 electric cars. I have now got rid of my electric cars and gone back to petrol cars. At the moment you can charge your EV at home, that's if you live in a property that will allow you to have a charge point installed, that can be a nightmare to solve due to how your property electric supply is fed, how old your supply cables (meter tails) and fuse box are. Old properties will be required to uprate the meter tails to 25mm and fuse box etc at major expense, you may in some cases be required to have your main incoming supply to your property altered (some properties are "Daisy chained" from house to house, if this is your case, you will need a new dedicated supply installed). Imagine if you live in a housing estate, where everyone comes home from work at 6pm and plug in their EV's. Most home charge points are 7400 watts, this will draw 31 amps at 240 volts, per household. All of a sudden the current draw for the estate will become very high and depending on the supply infrastructure, could actually overload the substation. In my opinion, to prevent this situation, you will be allocated a time slot for you to be able to charge your EV. Your smart meter will allow your supplier to control this slot allocation. Currently you are charged the same rate for electricity to charge your EV as you are for your household supply. In my opinion, once everyone becomes reliant on EV's you will be charged an extra premium on top of your allocated EV charge slot. The government will have to recover the loss in petrol and diesel sales in some way. I’m 54 too. I use public transport when it’s convenient, but my job entails the necessity of an internal combustion engine. Batteries are fine for milk floats & vibrators…
Well Lee, you made that very clear, what you did on this video is show the tension you get every time you get in the car ,should I put on my headlight, heater, etc. I would never buy a EV vehicle, it would give me a heart attack. Keep the good work you. I love the videos.
You are bang on the money sir! I drove a vw id4 for over 2 years. Was the most stressful soul destroying experience ever. Couldn't get a home charger, so forced to use public ones. They are simply far too expensive, a majority of the time, you don't get the correct charging speeds, meaning longer charging times and more cash taken off you. Sometimes you drive to a charging point, and the app tells you it's available working, but it's broken!!! Also, the horrible ordeal of queuing up, waiting to use one, and given ridiculous time limits to use them. The £50k car lost 50-60 miles range in the first year. They are nice to drive, and that is it. It's a very bad investment. Would never recommend. Drive safe..
These new cars are a load of crap and I wouldn't have one given me. I have the divine right to travel and drive what I choose and I will never comply with a corrupt Government whose sole aim is to drive us all off the roads.
What I like is that you get a few points on your license for playing on your phone while you drive, but it's all acceptable to play on your EV's touch screen to find your charging points...
My 1981 Triumph Acclaim still returns 50 mpg, despite being 43 years old. And it returns the same mpg whether it's December, or July. The petrol tank holds the same amount of fuel in 2024, as it did in 1981, and the heater still works when the fuel level needle is bent around the stop.
@@colin139 Neither would I. The first major hurdle to me running an EV is that there is ZERO infrastructure in my area to charge the bloody thing. I live in a semi detached house with no driveway, just on street parking at the front and off road parking at the back.

As for your question about the future of the motor industry... The ultimate aim is to NOT have a motor industry other than 'public transport'. Cars mean freedom, which you should not have. 15 minute cities are easier to surveil, monitor, and control the plebs... It's not rocket science.
Just bought an almost new petrol car to replace my Ford Focus I bought 17 years ago. EVs are too expensive, they depreciate faster than any other vehicle type, battery life is short. How much fossil fuel is used to mine and produce the batteries? Net zero and reducing carbon emissions is just a smoke screen for a small number to line their pockets.

The Company that my daughter works for, did the EV Company car thing, and it was personally financially beneficial. But ! they ALL stated that they were all handing them back! Reason? The cost was through the roof, it took ages to get where they were going, so had to get a hotel room (another story!) so they could guarantee being on time ! And there was a 3 WEEK wait to replace a TYRE !!! Yes a tyre. Because they are made of a different compound due to the wright of the battery ! NO to EV period !
My neighbour does a lot of business trips, on a trip by an EV taxi home from the airport 140 m the driver stopped 4 times to charge, the journey took twice as long in the early hours of the morning, he was not happy.
higher powers are telling the governments and the car companies what to do. the governments aren't doing the decision making, they're just doing as they're told.
I'm holding out as long as I can with petrol vehicle's . I think electric won't be around for that long before hydrogen powered engines come in. These oil companies are already investing huge amounts in hydrogen technology.
The Australian Labor Government is making emissions standards so strict that it will be difficult to buy anything but electric, the dreaded Greens would make it impossible.

🇬🇧💡🔊 Hi, you're missing the point! They rotate about once a decade. Same idea, different options. First it was: Scrap your 4 star cars & buy 2 star unleaded, because 4 star petrol is to be fazed out, so you have no choice. Because no more 4 star, why not scrap your old car. Then: Scrap your unleaded & buy diesel, because they do more mpg, so, according to gov't, are better for the environment. Then: Scrap your diesel & buy petrol (unleaded), because diesel is bad and petrol is cleaner. Then: Scrap your petrol & buy electric. Do it for the polar bears and puppies! They spend 5 years pushing it, saturating all forms of advertising, a couple of years floating on the political movement they've created, and a couple of years winding down, ready for the next time. They want you to throw away your old car, which actually ends up being sold to China by our gov't as scrap metal, and for a lot of £ overall. They want you to buy new, generating a lot of £ in tax, plus more trade = more jobs. They force manufacturers to produce the cars, by rolling out new laws - laws usually created to apparently 'combat global warming'. They want as many new cars sold as possible. After all, every new car sold = more tax £ for the Govt. They put a lot of effort in to pushing you into replacing your perfectly working car, as well as ensuring you feel their is no value left in your current car, further increasing the likelihood you will use it as a trade-in, which in turn will lead to it being sold by gov't to China as scrap. That's why they need to guarantee there are plenty of new cars for everyone to buy. Car manufacturers know that when you do finally update your car, you will look for something similar to what you already have. So, their instinct is to keep making what you and most other people want. But, because there's nothing wrong with your car, there is no way you would ordinarily update it for many years. That's where new laws demanding car manufacturers make the cars gov't want and not what you or they might want; and making you feel you have no choice, and of course... your car is worthless and needs scraping! 4 star petrol, outlawed - you need a new 2 star unleaded car. Petrol prices rocket, diesel prices drop - now you need a diesel. Diesel is killing polar bears and small puppies - you need a petrol car. Petrol is killing polar bears and small puppies - you need an electric car! The next decade might see us all have problems with over-inflated electricity costs - you will no doubt then need a new style, better for the environment, diesel car. You know it's better for the environment, because gov't told you so! But, don't get too comfy with your diesel car, because a newly developed petrol and corresponding petrol cars will be waiting just around the corner. No, that's not the end of the story. Your brand new hydrogen powered car is the perfect break, before switching back to diesel power, then unleaded, and electric... The pattern is clear and easy to check, which I encourage you to do! Each cycle coincidently coincides with the UK needing money! It's weird how things work out, isn't it!? Hopefully, some of you reading this, will have lived through at least some of these well time changes, and will be able to add your own thoughts to this way-too-long comment! DB.
Noone needs stress when travelling, bad enough with the traffic on the roads. With evil EVs I would hate to have to keep charging, what are you supposed to do if there are power cuts, storms and flooding? @ I may be old but I am not stupid, this government wants stop oil by 2035. My car now is expensive to run and 15 years old and maybe subject to being illegal to repair one day, it wouldn’t surprise me. To have to open up several menus to simply turn something on or off whilst driving could be considered to be dangerous. Personally I would never buy an EV, the thought of sitting on top of all those batteries which have the potential to burn at over 2000 degrees and under water would worry me.
15:30 The heater in an ICE vehicle provides heat for free. The engine is always producing heat as a by-product of combustion, so you don't need to consume more petrol or diesel to keep warm.

Or you could look at United States govt - where the founding fathers DID NOT BELIEVE political parties would take root in the Great Republic and of course THEY HAVE political parties!!!!!!!!!
Trying to ban political parties is a WASTE OF TIME!!!!!!!!
I am driving to Frankfurt on Tuesdy in my GLE Mercedes. Luxury and comfort. I will fill it up in Plymouth. Then top up in Kent. I will arrive in Frankfurt, loaded up for christmas at 0600 on Wednesday morning. I could not even begin to imagine how long that would take in an electric GLE.
I will never voluntarily buy one.
No cars no alcohol no meat and living in mud huts
Great future huh
Yep thats where we are heading😥
The government says. DONT DO AS I DO DO AS I SAY
Smart people already knew that and didn't buy an electric car...
To prevent this dystopian future there is only one way vote Reform.
I'm not going to buy an electric car or motorbike. I'll keep my old vehicles.
I predict that electric van owners will eventually change to horse and cart owners.😂
The politicians need to keep out of market forces.. and let the customer decide…
💪🧠🤝💚Thank you for being strong and telling the truth .🙏
Not lying just about EVs, they lie about everything.
I would not have an ev vehicle even if it was free!...
It would cost you to 'get rid'....
@@colin139 Neither would I. The first major hurdle to me running an EV is that there is ZERO infrastructure in my area to charge the bloody thing. I live in a semi detached house with no driveway, just on street parking at the front and off road parking at the back.
It's true the 2nd hand market FOR EV'S is almost non existence. My acquaintances in the car market say most dealers refusing to take them in part exchange as they cannot give them away. They say it will bankrupt them eventually.
I get 700 miles range from my diesel 15 year old Focus. No irritating "driver aids", no giant screen in the middle of the dash, plus a comfortable purring sound just ahead of me. Stick the EV's where they belong. In a garbage tup
Let Starmer serve as a vendor at a car dealer and learn how hard it is to sell something to people. I don't think he can sell a lemonade to a passer-by.
They tried electric cars over 100 years ago and it didn't work then!
Thank you sir for your honesty, I saw what you are saying when the EV came out. I have just bought another diesel car and will continue to buy diesels cars. EE cars are are town/shopping car yet I have never seen that mentioned on an EV advert!
That is if there are any petrol diesel sellers left. Have you noticed all the garages and dealers going bankrupt. 2 collapsed in Sw In last month. Big places too.
Please someone make a petion to force Mp's and Lords to only be allowed to daily drive electric cars (not hybrids, pure electric) no excuses, don't care if your the prime minister or the secretary of whatever. And yes it includes someone else driving you around to work appointments.
You make a lot of sense to me . I agree with you .
WHO UN WEF Davos we are watching it all unfold in front of our eyes.
Oil industry shutting down car industry shutting down Scotland looking at 50 mph max speed on single carriageway consultation.
I fear for hospitality in Scotland as you need a car to tour. Insidious intervention. Diesel n petrol will be priced out.
Grangemouth closing.
15 minute city on way. .
We will be like Cuba after 2030. Having to hang onto our ICE cars for 30 years plus
there won't be any fuel - they covered all the angles - like i said - hello 1984!
While I’m waiting for my diesel focus to be serviced I’m listing to you and agree with EVERY thing you are saying. Thank you for your input.
Not got an EV because the government recommends them..
What happened the last time the government recommended something to everyone.?!!
Why do EV owners get so aggresive when their cars are criticised.
because they are embarresed,wankers
They've been brainwashed and conditioned.
Because they can't admit they have made a mistake so feel very angry about it.
The government doesn't really want electric cars, it wants NO CARS!! (Time to get the bike out of the shed?)...
Time to remove the government
The HARD TRUTH IS that Woke govt has ALREADY TOLD US to get the bicycle out of the shed - as they REALLY DO EXPECT US to walk or bicycle to any place we need to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the Woke truly believe that if we need to go to a place we cannot get to by bicycle or on foot - THEN BY GOVT CHOICE - WE DO NOT REALLY NEED TO GO THERE!!!!!!!
I have a 2000 Vauxhall Corsa c 1.2 16v Comfort which I have owned since 2006 and is still a good runner. With the help of a COC certificate I proved my my car to be ULEZ compliant and run around Greater London free of charge. It’s all about taxing us to death and control. The Government must be resisted in not allowing them to push all this crap onto us.
Spot on as always Lee. I believe the silent majority will always come through. When people start losing their jobs and livelihoods over it, the reality will kick in
Back in March of this year. The temperature dropped below 4C and I started work at 5 O'clock in the afternoon. By half past 12 the battery was on red at 25%. I lost money as a taxi driver. They are effing useless. Just like the 2 cretins in charge
Well said Mac. Quite a truth bomb. Don't touch E.Vs with a barge pole. I've witnessed too many battery fires at my motorway exit. They are not sublime milk floats but moblle coffins.
I just bought a brand new Ford F150 Tremor loaded with a 400hp V8 Coyote that runs nicely in 87 octane.
Lovely ! In Canada !
Agree EVs are eco friendly,
So remember those poor children rummaging for lithium on dangerous sites
They'll price us off the road!
That's the plan.
You will own nothing and be happy.. that's their plan.
They've reneged on the be happy.
@@kenlee5509 Does the Assisted suicide bill start to make sense yet!
When reform get in diesel and petrol will be saved
They'll do jack as they roll out the policies given to them by the civil service who interm rake their orders from Billderberg funded NGO'S and all are working together to push us towards Global Government.
Watch UK Column news for the facts.
Dont even think about emissions ,i worked at a port where they export 3.000 tons of shredded tyres to turkey to burn in their power stations what emissions do they omit ,then there's the transport ,shredding loading and shipping to consider
Its all about control.
Don't start that again!
I work in the second hand car market we do not touch electric cars seen some at auctions most people I know will not buy them they are going to be a disaster keep your normal fuel cars as long as you can
EV's are, at best, an alternative. They definitely NOT a 'solution' to anything. Folks should be able to chose and not be bullied. Manufacturers should supply a demand and not be threatened, bullied or penalised, for not supplying the 'right' thing.
They are not an alternative. They are the future. We no longer have mobiles the size of a brick or TVs the size if a house
😂 LOL, stupid Chinese not wanting to buy expensive European Ice cars anymore. Why would they prefer their super cheap EVs & because of their vast electrical charging infrastructure only costing a couple of pounds to charge instead of filling up with expensive disesl? Doesn't make sense to me and companies like😢 VW are reliant on their East Asian sales
@@Mr_Foresightbad comparison, but nice try.
None of your examples had to be subsidised or forced onto the public, they were simply better.
If EVs were better the same would happen. But it doesnt.
@@Mr_Foresight We no longer have Black and white TV's driven by thermionic valves, There is no mass transport by horse, in major cities. You are admitting that the batteries are not quite up to scratch, but will be in the future. How long do we have to wait? In the meantime we are being bullied into tech that is not a direct replacement (or better) than what we have. People naturally 'adopt' things that are better. Bad things have to be 'forced' upon people.
The only reason they have, to do that, is 'for the greater good'. 'Saving the planet', 'reaching arbitary CO2 levels', 'bring the temperature down to another arbitary figure', etc. All of which, fail inspection, when you see how these cars are made and powered.
Keep doing what you're doing. You're making this important topic more and more visible to the masses. People need to know about the harsh realities of owning an EV. And thanks for sharing your experiences of having to live with an Electric Vehicle, it will absolutely help other's to avoid falling into the trap.
I'm never having an EV. One thing amazes me is how you never know how much it has cost you until about 4 months later. Surely the system knows how many kW it's stuck in and the £/kW it was charging!!!!!
Even prehistoric petrol pumps manage to do that instantly.
You do but showing that wouldn't suit the narrative would it? 😉
As soon as people look at politicians as grifters. Nothing will change. Pushing stuff that would have already failed in a true free market economy.
Nice work! Thank u for waking alot of people up! Nice!
higher powers are telling the governments and the car companies what to do. the governments aren't doing the decision making, they're just doing as they're told.
Please define " higher powers".
Larry and his wef and un acolytes. Do some research @@olavblom3024
I have NEVER seen any product pushed so much in tv ads!!! And still most people don't want them!🤬
I'm holding out as long as I can with petrol vehicle's . I think electric won't be around for that long before hydrogen powered engines come in. These oil companies are already investing huge amounts in hydrogen technology.
The Australian Labor Government is making emissions standards so strict that it will be difficult to buy anything but electric, the dreaded Greens would make it impossible.
Dystopian future all going to plan
EVs will work as we will only be allowed to drive in our 15 minute cities.
Keep going before they stop you. We need the truth out there
100% correct Lee, my (sadly) EV a BMW i4 is currently giving me 168 miles for an 80% charge down from 198 in summer, my heating is off as when it is on the 168 mile range dropped to 141 mile which is ridicules, I'm sick of trying this and that, using Eco Pro Mode etc to get more milage out the car, I turn as much of the apps off but that makes little difference, all these claimed milage are wholly wrong, the sooner the better batteries come along the better, I'll be rid of mine next year, it was new in May 2024, I'll lose a fortune I've no doubt but I'm just sick of worrying about my milage , I've got range anxiety before I even start going anywhere, keep going Lee. PS. are you moving back to the states? in the near future, good luck whatever.
No countries electrical grids will support everyone having electrical cars - and 'they' know it!
Well l am very happy with my Rover 75s thank you. Which I will continue to drive until the raving lunatic Milliband takes it from me. Both parties are in Net Zero together so you will get no change from either. Reform are the only way to go. Break the Net Zero Con. Reform for me.
DB.
Anybody who buys an EV must be out of their minds.. they may never admit it. But they will regret it for sure..
Milliband still hasn’t got a electric why. because he knows it’s a scam
Noone needs stress when travelling, bad enough with the traffic on the roads. With evil EVs I would hate to have to keep charging, what are you supposed to do if there are power cuts, storms and flooding? I would worry it could burst into flames too, I have heard of that happening. I think all manufactures should get together and go against the government. Thank you Lee, great video. x
Old and the disabled are being put in danger with these EVs,it's crazy
Huh? That's a new one, haven't heard that one. Please do explain...
I am a pensioner and have trouble getting around without a car it will be very difficult just getting the weekly shopping. I can’t afford to change my car especially not for an EV.
@davidiand7 You're not required to change you car though so nothing to do with EV's being dangerous for old and disabled.
@ I may be old but I am not stupid, this government wants stop oil by 2035. My car now is expensive to run and 15 years old and maybe subject to being illegal to repair one day, it wouldn’t surprise me. On being dangerous I didn’t say that but there could be many old people who do not understand touch screens. To have to open up several menus to simply turn something on or off whilst driving could be considered to be dangerous. Personally I would never buy an EV, the thought of sitting on top of all those batteries which have the potential to burn at over 2000 degrees and under water would worry me.
@@davidiand7the government can do one…they get all Stalinist, I’m off!
I agree with you 💯 freedom of choice and freedom of speech
15:30 The heater in an ICE vehicle provides heat for free. The engine is always producing heat as a by-product of combustion, so you don't need to consume more petrol or diesel to keep warm.
Spot on
so about 40 min total needed to charge about 180 miles of range on a superfast charger with preconditioned battery, in perfect conditions to charge fast.
Thx for confirming again EV'S are a total joke. Just like in 1920.
I’m intrigued to know how the government are going to get rid of all the petrol and diesel cars that are out there at the moment. Again, I will be ignoring everything the government says about EV’s and carry on with my petrol automatic car. Xxxxxx
Nissan has just announced they are to close their Sunderland factory (the most efficient in the western world), within two years! As they cannot sell the volume they need to make to have the plant economical! All due to the restrictions the government has placed on them, ie if they go over a set % to electric vehicles they are subject to a fine of £15,000/car!
