I've attended a gay club with my wife and her friends but it was all love because they invited us so we were welcomed. First anecdote: after a series of weekend violent incidents at the most popular gay club here at the time, Happenings, the club management had to change their open-door policy. They had been proudly tolerant of straight-people, giving all who showed up the benefit of the doubt since many there were who came to enjoy the best DJ'ing and freshest dance music with their gay friends or own their own, and they were allies and respectful of whose 'house' they were visiting. But as we all know, it takes only 1 bad apple to spoil the bunch. After 3 successive weekends ruined by bar fights brought on by the belligerent straight and narrow, policy was changed: only members of the club and their invited guests could come in, cover charges be damned. It was hard on the club financially, but it did fix the problem. After that, if someone displayed the wrong attitude, the bartender would simply ask loudly if anyone had signed for them -- or pretend there was a guest book they should have been signed into -- and when no one answered for the offenders (and who could've over the music?), they were led out. Mind you, being in Canada, we didn't have to worry about people carrying concealed guns, especially all those years ago. Second, in support of what you said about ignorant straight guys who think all gay men want them, a comical put-down I hope you'll enjoy: my gal pal, Dahlia, was on public transit on her way home from work as a medical secretary and transcriptionist in the psych services of one of our hospitals. To say that she was used to dealing with deranged individuals would be an understatement. This one week night, exhausted after a particularly trying day, she was trapped on a bus near to an idiot who felt he had to share loudly his fear and loathing of gay men with everyone aboard. Then he got on how he couldn't stand the thought of a gay man looking at him or touching him, etc. This proved too much for one of the middle-aged ladies seated behind the fool, near my friend. At one stop, this lady couldn't stomach his vanity and ignorance any more; she stood up and dressed him down, telling him, 'Honey, don't think you're all that. You're ugly and stupid. No gay man would want to come near you let alone get with you. None of us want to hear any more from you now, so shut up!' She got rounds of applause and Dahlia made a new bus-friend that night. I hope you and your friends have a group of supporters like that to slap the ignorant into silence. You should definitely not have to put up with that crap in a gay club.

It's so disrespectful and uncomfortable when guys at the gay clubs get handsy or try to dance and I'm just yelling in their ear "I like girls, I like women, I'm here to dance with the girls" and they get all like "oh please" / "you'll like it" "its just dancing" etc. Even when I move away I suddenly have the guy back and trying to grind on me after I've already moved away. It's so frustrating. It sucks because its like to them it's "just dancing" but to me it's supposed to be a place where I can be myself and not feel weird, worried or on guard that I'm dancing with someone of the same gender. I always try to be civil and suggest they find someone else but it really kills the mood when you start dancing with someone you want to and there's a straight dude stood on the edge of the dancefloor staring at the both of us intently. Please bugger off.
Dont stand for that. Imagine if a man did that to you in the street. It is sexual harassment and even assault if you are touched. Make sure you are stern with them, they are ignorant, selfish, entitled arseholes that think every woman wants them and that because they are men they are allowed to act like that. There's a gay nightclub in London, England, called 'Heaven' (And for those of you who don't know, Heaven is the biggest gay club in London), and it's become a really popular place for straight people to go for a night out too. Most of the girls at Heaven are straight (which lesbians complain about all the time, because every girl they approach there is straight) and loads of straight guys go there, though most of the guys are gay. The place is filled with straight girls because their gay male friends invite them (which pisses lesbians off). A lot of the time when i speak to a guy in Heaven, he turns out to be straight lol
