It was clear to me the first time I watched one of her interviews. She just came off as disrespectful, very insecure. Nothing wrong with being insecure- I think everyone can relate to it, to some extent. It becomes problematic when someone chooses to project those insecurities onto others by shaming, rude social interactions, and so forth. There's simply no excuse for that behavior. She has never struck me as self-confident, much the opposite. More of an arrogant front, if anything.

I'm not sure about the fat shaming, making performers hold their bladder, threats of violence and such. I will hear them out and be on their side about that. But what I do believe is the Lizzo being extremely sexual around her workers and inviting them to parties or strip clubs like that (or even forcing them). Because we know Lizzo is a very sexual woman, and that's fine. We love a woman proud of her sexuality. However, it seems Lizzo tends to forget these people are her EMPLOYEES. Not her friends. If you are being extremely sexual around them, that is very inappropriate. So that part, I 100% believe without a doubt. Just like any other job, who's going to stand up to their BOSS and say that what they're doing is making them uncomfortable then risk being fired? Very few people.

I wish we didn’t do the cycle where every time a celebrity people dislike for being cringe (or in Lizzo’s case a fat black woman, which is considered cringe just for existing) of basically bringing out the slurs and acting like it’s a good reason to be racist and fatphobic. Just criticize them in a normal way! Just be normal! Criticize them the same way you would if it was freakin Bryan Cranston or something, the same way you would someone who isn’t black and isn’t considered cringe and is generally respected. Afford people nuance and don’t be like “they’re accused of something so I think we should legalize hate crimes now.” Trans people also get that shit all the time. The thing I appreciate about Hasans community is that it’s usually better about that, it sticks to the facts rather than using it as an excuse to shit on someone for being who they are (their identity). So I’m glad that for the most part, this comment section is more fair and actually criticizing for good reason.

here's my rando essay take: a political or social ideology can be in of themselves completely benign but nevertheless depending on their nature, they are often intrinsically adjacent to certain toxic avenues that quickly take root if unchecked.
on the left, the currently vibe is very much of freedom of sexuality, body, choice etc. those ideals should be normalized and represented in the forefront, but that general culture is adjacent to hedonism and kinkiness. Those things are completely fine, but they do exist behind barriers that shouldn't be dissolved in the way that i feel they currently are, and starting to enter the mainstream.
this is happening at pride events where elements of very overt kink are starting to encroach, then there's people like Sam Smith making allusions to drinking piss in a music video. Lefties defend this because the individual action itself isn't inherently "wrong," but I fear that it can start to enable people who take it to inappropriate/toxic levels because they are so within their comfort bubbles/vibes that they don't see the issues it can cause when you project behaviour like this more publicly. To Lizzo, showing an employee "a banana in a performer's vagina" is probably equivalent to a couple kissing, obviously the former is more gratuitous and a form of sexual harassment if you're exposing people to that by coercion/peer pressure but to her its just vibes, jokes and being "free and open."
