@@lmackenzie9198I’m by no means an expert but I had a quick look and it seems to describe the relationship of labour directly related with production of material goods (e.g. factory workers/farmers) being the dominant “base” labour, compared to the “superstructure” which is all forms of labour not directly related to production (e.g. arts and scientific research) basically the marxist theory says that the base will shape and influence the superstructure and the superstructure will in turn legitimise and reshape the base. TLDR the economy shapes art and art in turn shapes the economy. It goes a lot deeper into the dictatorship of the proletariat and compares this theoretical materialism against historical materialism and its development through feudalism and mercantilism. Marx never outright talks about historical materialism given that the modern economy was still only forming then. Its mostly spoken of when analysing his work
@lmackenzie9198 Marx wrote about it as the process of transitioning capitalism to socialism. Ultimately we need to more to decomodify certain things (housing, education, heatlhcare) and we need to create jobs that give workers a dignified existence (meaning to pay them what's due).

I'm just trying to figure it out...like if I blog, I can't ever say I drove truck at, or was a cook, or worked in a factory, or was a janitor at my local mall in my early 20's? I actually had all those jobs at one point or another. I started as a cook when I was 15 and worked until I was disabled at 35 (should have stopped working sooner because I was just making things worse, but had to survive...but I was missing a lot of work by then because my back was just not doing well at all). The truck driving is what really did my back in, which I did in my mid 20's, for about 3 years. The 12 hour shifts on my feet at the factory didn't help matters. I've also done a little bit of paid photography work and some writing gigs for smaller websites. Lots of random other things here and there, but yeah, I worked each job I mentioned and then some. Even did some roofing work, but not as a job, it was to help a friend so I just did what they told me and did my best not to fall off of their roof lol.
Other work I've done that I can recall includes pizza delivery, cab driver, and Walmart. I moved around several times, so I'd have to find a new job each time I did. Most of it sucked to varying degrees. I at least got to see the country when I drove truck, or at least what you can see from the highway. Been to something like 44 of the 50 states. I wish I could still work even part time, but the back pain and spasms make that impossible at this point in my life.
