We already do the microphone cut-off thing here in Indonesian presidential debates. It works fantastic. I don't know why you wouldn't do it all the time; any candidate's speaking time should be 100% respected no matter who they are.
One problem with it in this case:
Moderator: 'Mister Trump, your time is up and we've cut your mic.'
Trump: 'THAT'S OKAY, I CAN SCREAM A LOT LOUDER THAN THIS!'

I stopped watching’TV’ many years ago. UA-cam is my main source of video entertainment. Watching this on UA-cam right now. Will never have cable Tv ever again. It’s over for the tv networks unless they fully adapt to streaming. I also haven’t watched a commercial in just as many years. When I do see one at someone else’s house, I can’t stand them or believe I ever was able to sit through so many.
