- Welcome back to Mr. Mixer! In today's video, we'll be going through a full rebuild of a professional style KitchenAid mixer. This includes changing out all of the internal gears, swapping out the motor and the speed control board, and installing a new planetary.
We go through this step by step and made it as easy to follow along with at home as we could. If your machine's starting to show it's years and needs a breath of new life a full rebuild is the best thing you could do to make sure it keeps running for years to come.

This is your most complete and easy to follow instructional video yet! 🎉 Just what I needed since I dismantled this exact mixer this morning to regrease and check before gifting to my niece. You rock ❤! You make it easy for us to rebuild or refurbish KitchenAid mixers. Thank you so much for your help, instructions and assistance.🥰😁💖
Glad we can be of help 😊 and congratz on the successful regrease!
I was able to replace the planetary in mine and regrease my Kitchenaid thanks to your very detailed videos. Many thanks!
It's a pleasure to be of service
its amazing how simple and durable these things are. wish more appliances are like this.
This is an amazingly well done 'how-to' video. I learned a great deal about my mixer, and that it may well need a grease change. I found your website and signed up for emails too.
I appreciate you being here! It's a pleasure to be of service
I just want to say that you are amazing teacher and I
love the way you show how to repair the faulty mixer.mr mixer is the best.
Why thank you 😊
Thank you!!.. I like so much I will make in my machine. I already have the parte...thank you!!
It killed me when you put the power connectors on backwards. Not the polarity backward, the physical orientation of the plugs themselves. The PCB has the orientation silkscreened on. I still watched the whole thing. I dont even have a mixer I was just interested in the internal design. Cool cool thanks for the vid
Love the videos! Why not the name “Sir Mix A lot”
New here, hi um can you tell me why my mom’s kitchen aid is smoking? 😂 it’s over 32 years old now but she loves it, and id like to fix it for her.
Are 1960's kitchen aids the same as modern ones? Are service parts still available?
I have a funny situation with a kitchenaid pro model I picked up at a flea market. when you plug it in, it works as expected… however when you touch any of the housing, it’s actually live and zaps you pretty mean. Took it apart, but I cant find where this comes from? Also hard to find any info on this online - perhaps you have any pointers?
Our pro mixer planetary drops down about an 1/8th of an inch and leaves a gap between the gear and the housing What do you think has worn out?
Love working on these. My question; if your to the point of a complete rebuild, would it not be cheaper to buy a whole new machine?
I'm not sure of the cost, but the value of not creating extra waste is underrated.
@@torchcrawler768 that is true.
It really just depends on the individual person and how much sentimental value their mixer has. Some of these machines are passed down through the generations, and being able to restore them means a lot to some people!
I have an old Hobart manufactured KitchenAid but the base plate barely holds the bowl anymore can you help?
What years did the K4B run? I have one that is pretty pristine with the same bowl you have on the shelf. Quietest KA out of five that I have. Your videos are informative and incredibly helpful! I’ll be calling to order a several items for several that I own! Great content and thank you for sharing!
It's right around 1944-1963 or so if I remember correctly! And thank you, I'm glad we can help :)
