when checking oil do not screw in the dip stick (only rest it on the top) . . . also, completing your own oil change does not void warranty as long as you use OEM parts and fluids (keep receipts)
It is Federal Law in USA, you can do ALL your own maintenance work without voiding the warranty for any vehicle. This is a ploy by dealers wanting you to have them do it all and charge you HUGE money. Great job BTW
Hi I live in the Uk 🇬🇧 over here while the bike is under warranty you have to have the bike serviced by bmw or the warranty gets void different rules for different countries my warranty has just ended and I’ve bought the full bmw service kit I’ll be doing my own servicing from now on over here they charge you £165 for an oil change so will be saving lots of money doing it myself in my handbook it states you have to get the engine up to operating temperature to check the oil it also helps if you unscrew your fill cap it stops the old oil gulping out makes it run out smoothly the only time the bike will go back to bmw is for the valve shims to be checked and replaced. This is a good video you done well 🙏🙏👍🏍️
In Canada doing your own oil change does not void your warranty. Just keep your receipts for your oil, oil filters and air filters. Record what you’ve done and when. Great job on the video!
It doesn't void your warrant in the states either. it's called the Right to Repair. They are also trying to pass a law that manufactures provide manuals for all service. It's passed already in most states.
Most excellent video with lots of knowledge imparted. I'm especially impressed as I always thought I wouldn't be strong enough to undo plug etc but watching how you manage inspires me. I was very happy to have my first service performed at the dealership from a loyalty and support perspective, but the labour time charge always seems overestimated. Great stuff!
Thank you! For me it just started from both being curious and at the same time broke and can't afford labor. Haha Now it's become a hobby ☺️ And seeing that it actually helps others gives me purpose in uploading these videos 😊😊😊
When you screw in the oil mesurment stick than you will have to less oil in the engine. And in case of having a hydrolic timing chane you will get problems with it. For my bike it was nessesary to fill up to max level to get rid of the bad sound of the timing chane wich was rubbering on metal. Please check the advise from bmw for measur the oil level. Greatings from Bavaria.
I knew how to change the oil on the 750 GS bike. Yes After the absence of a siphon oil, it needs to be programmed. After changing the oil, is there a device that programs O? Go to the BMW dealership
Hello, I like that you’re doing the oil change by your self. To comeback on the story of warranty actually yes you lose it if you don’t take it to the dealer ( is insane!) the fact is the dealer is supposed to perform some checks on the bike and importantly is the update of the software ( very important) on the top of this BMW has a data base that collect all information on the bike which help to have the history of the bike in case of any issue can happen and requires to be handled by the warranty. But at the end of the warranty period if nothing wrong with the bike is cool (3 yrs) just check with the dealer about the software updates this is important to have it up to date as there is some small upgrades on the bike system specially for the TFT screen ( latest one about the communications systems) Bravo for your videos. Continue the good job yr doing
I guess it doesn't matter as my bike is not under warranty anymore. My friend has the GS 911 tool so my software and computer data is all up to date. :D
Motardl1fe well this is cool to be able you update the software :) , by the way you confirm your bike not under warranty ! Why is that? Is BMW confirms this?
Voiding warranty if you do your own services is different from country to country. I think for usa and Canada its ok. For Europe its not ok and you loose the warranty. Just because you didn't have any warranty claims in the past doesn't mean you wont have in the future (i hope not) thats why i plan to pay the dealer the first three years to do the simple oil change. Peace of mind. Also, you measure the oil level with the dipstick wrong. You shouldnt tighten the cap to measure, just put it in the hole. Thats why it said max level with just 2,5liters. Read it in the manual. Keep up with the videos and stay safe. Kudos.

I agree. the valve check maintenance takes too long better off to get it done by someone else if you haven't the time for it.

Nice clip, how to change the oil in the 750GS

You must not check the oil by screwing the dip stick in just rest it on the top that why you where full with 2.5 litres
Yes thanks!
...and the dry filter is absorbing some. Great video!

my bike was a demo bike so technically not bought brand new and was sold to me as is. so no warranty that i know about...🤷♀️
My Dealer says makes no different if you change your own oil

Hi. For the 2nd drain plug 5mm hex, is it ok to use a standard/regular length one? Would it reach it? Ive noticed you ised a super long one. Thanks.
Yes a regular one works just fine.
