Oh, goodness. When a sample is done so pretty and so slick, wonderful! That's why I fell in love with Daft.someone knows how to do it, with their craft and knowledge. Beth kicks it so hard!! Xoxo
You missed a sample used in Strangers for the drum break- It's called Magnificent Sanctuary Band by Donny Hathaway- It got chopped up and pitch shifted a lot to, they also used a low of mastering to make it sound better :)
@@Climpwood In the Portishead track. From 2:00 to 2:11 there's a snippet with strings, brass and a vibraphone. I doubt that was made by them in the studio, but I could never found there that sample came from.
I love the art of sampling, and this album is legendary. Not a single bad track on Dummy.
up there with ok computer and loveless for my favorite album of the 90’s
I'm a 15yo producer and i love sampling. i never understood the oldheads hating on it

Great sourcing. Thank you. A long trail from Johnny Ray to Portishead.

There's a sample with vibraphone and strings/brass in that song (at 2:00). Any idea what's that? I couldn't find the source anywhere.
@@gpeddino Which track? The actual sample or the portishead track?
