@Trek Verse, no Phaser Banks.
1979 Refit is still my favorite.
Absolutely. Perfect proportions.
Me too always. The V-ger movie is my favorite one. But the Enterprise C is my 2nd fav b/c it looks the refit but a taste of the Enterprise D just a little. Its more true to the A ship though. This new ship is a bitchin ship also.
@@toddwalker4301Indeed! I like also the same ship 1701-A the one they got after the voyage home.
The Abram-verse ships get a lot of flack but the one thing that’s great about them is that you can see all the components that make them up. As an engineer I see things being put together from inside out so it gives me the sense of realism when I see shots like this. Now the enterprise they have introduced in discovery is good and all but this is just impressive.
I honestly did not like the ship.... UNTIL I WATCHED THIS. Got to see full color photos (not just concept art) and maaaan does it look gorgeous.
Valkyrie Editing
Well even a pig looks good with enough washing.
Valkyrie Editing
I seriously don't like either ship... Although the 1701 did grow on me a little.... Still the 1701A looks like Batman had a hand in it's design 😂
Well, we're all entitled to our opinions! I admit the nacelle placement on the pylons and the thicker pylons were off putting, but it's grown on me.
I honestly still do not like the JJ-ship
@@jv-lk7bcNo one asked.
During my first incarceration, I designed a 7,920-foot-long space liner and named her after the airship Hindenburg. That space liner has evolved through 12 incarnations, all the same size and all with the same crew. This new class of ship will be the Starship Hindenburg's 12th incarnation.
"Aye, she's a beauty sir"
Yes she is!
"Well, this is a new ship. But she's got the right name. Now, you remember that, you hear?....You treat her like a lady. And she'll always bring you home." - Dr (Adm) Leonard "Bones" McCoy
Maybe for a different Enterprise, but it fits all the same.
He said it to Data on the Enterprise D XD
No. it does not fit all the same. Leave DeForrest out of it.
@@jv-lk7bcYes, it does. To quote William Shatner: “Get a life.”
i got an idea....why dont they do another doomsday machine?...that would be just great..at the end of the original they ask...how many more planet killers are out there..
I would like to see that.
You have to wonder if the probe in Star Trek IV was constructed by the same civilization that built the doomsday machine. It was prepared to destroy the Earth after failure to make contact with humpback whales.
@@tracydillon6160 or maybe vger
it will be interesting if any of the vengeance makes its way into the design of the A with the improved hull, engines, shields & weapons
Theres fan art floating around on the web, with the Vengeance as an Excelsior variant. It has the hole is the saucer filled in.
makes me wonder that in the future we might get an excelsior version of the vengeance??
The renders might be from Dan Broadway but the model is from Nightfever. He had access to material from the production so his model, while not exact, is pretty damned close.
Gene R. and Matt J. are spinning in their graves at this abomination.
The side angle of the saucer is to steep. The ship looks great from the front. It is the secondary hull and nacelle pylons that gives me the fits. The two engines are fine. It's the wider at the base pylons that make me want to barf. The secondary hull's undercut relief is two great. It need be over half it's length shorter. There is a lot of engineering equipment that needs space down there. The hanger deck should have two of three levels to it, just like an aircraft carrier of today. Other than that BRAVO. Can't wait for the next movie.
Your gripes were mine as well. All the pylons look like bell bottom pants and take away the sleek look of the ship.
Can't believe that it's been nine years already since I first saw the "Hot Rod" Enterprise from the J. J. Abrams film in the late 2008 teaser trailer. Time flies.
So true...
This thing is in another dimension, just like the I.S.S. Enterprise. Our for real Enterprise is in our ( prime ) universe.
I prefer the original refit
You know what? Who cares? I didn't know that the refit made so many changes. I trust it will be good, AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE U.S.S. DISCOVERY!!!! That ship is a UPN ad.
You mentioning UPN does bring back memories of me being a freshman in high school.
I'm still a little uppity with the size of the JJprise but yeah, this is a better design.
NJ4K. Well, Gene intended the Enterprise to be a city in space. It was a novel idea when scifi ships were little more than transportation to where the adventures happened.
But today the connie is just plain tiny, the Intrepid is a small ship that is larger.
If the ship was going to maintain its status as something aspirational it had to grow.
The new Enterprise-A is so epic. It really needs a nice toy/model/replica made of it. I’d be one of the first in line to buy it. I asked Moebius and they said they’re waiting until another movie to make a move on it, and Eaglemoss just basically told me “we don’t know when we’ll make one but keep looking out”
I'll be waiting in line for this model!
@@MichaelWilliams-star-trek So will I!
Really hope to fly this in Star Trek Online someday.
I hope they do a ST 4 with this ship. It is a very nice improvement over the previous 1701.
He he, like Star Trek 4 is gonna happen.
@@riversword2660When it does tho?
@@dightonazpeitia4350 No it isn’t, I meant to say “As if Star Trek 4 will happen”. I don’t think it will
Love how it looks from the front because they finally spaced the nacelles more but those struts are so....wrong (also keeping the strut connection at the very front of the nacelle is...weird)
Holy hell, this is too beautiful to NOT be in STO.
Probably we will see her in the next Trek film.
I would love to see the new A in Star Trek Online. They have started to add Discovery ships.
Excellent! It looks like the old enterprise designed with a new refit. But there nothing is better then then the original Enterprise
Nothing beats the constitution class refit and sovereign class.
Sovereign class with no neck doesn’t look like an enterprise. This looks like an Enterprise.
I'm a little bummed we won't get to see this ENT on film. It was a nice nod to the A from prime-universe, honestly I think I like it better than the refit from Into Darkness/Beyond.
while I do like how the pylons were straightened in forward view,... I do not like how sharply angled they are in the side view, nor do I like how they connect to the nacelles right at the tip. The nacelles really do need to extend forward a bit more from the connection point.
The pylons and how they connect are really the only problem I have with this design,.... just like the 2009 version. In fact with all of them, its the pylons that throw the whole thing off every time.
No, it’s fine. It’s something new and we all know how you Trekkers hate new things/ideas
@@dightonazpeitia4350 I think you're giving this speech to the wrong person. I like the 2009 version overall, I couldn't care less that it looks "different", it's aesthetics that I'm commenting on. Overall balance in design. I prefer straight pylons (in forward view) over curved ones, unless it's an elbow curve.
The Odyssey class is new, yet I like it overall. I simply prefer the Sojourner variant pylons and nacelles... and they are even newer
Also I don't care for the TOS design either
3:56 God she is a beautiful ship
Yes she is!
Oh my God such a beautiful design.
She’s beautiful! I love those renders. Such an improvement on the 2009 JJ Hotroderprise. Love to have a model of this 👍
She is my favorite!
Still not liking the side view, those pylons are just far too massive for such a small secondary hull
Big fan of the 1701-A Kelvin personally; the smaller nacelles and the pylon changes go a long way towards fixing whatever issues I had with the original Kelvinverse 1701.
Since the original A is my favorite Enterprise I was initially pretty disappointed by this one. What bothered me the most is that it's too similar to the original "JJ-prise". Now after some time I learned to appreciate it more, however I still dislike newer darker iterations of deflector dishes (from movies to Discovery) altogether.
Hargreaves said about his design that he wanted it to be "more evolutionary than revolutionary" and that he focused on improving structural weaknesses revealed during swarm ships attack on the Enterprise.
To be fair, doesn't the Enterprise A from the Prime timeline look almost identical to the refit Enterprise?
Where did you get the video of it going into the beyond?
I still like the 09 better. But she's a beauty
I really love both JJ-verse Enterprises. Except for the ST Beyond Enterprise refit.
The final product is way better than the concept art. I still wish they'd stop connecting the pylons right at the bussard collectors when they're supposed to be move back 1/3 down the nacelle.
8:34 Honestly I dig this JJ-1701-A as it has 1979 Refit Mixed with 1966 Jeffries Designs
But I agree with the Pylons, have you Seen Gabriel Köerner's Enterprise Though ?
@@mrandrossguy9871 - yeah, it's a nice design. I like the more sleek look of the kelvin ones
absolute wonderful review of ncc1701A this ship is a majestic monster it basically is a battleship master piece ready do this thing im glad i found you trek verse
I'm glad I found you too. :)
battleships have been obsolete since 1941
@@jv-lk7bc the enterprise is a battleship.it goes back 56 years.and to me the original enterprise is the best looking of them all.its superstrucher is a little weak but it will outlast all of them to me.
Love the new A! She is beautiful ❤️
Very nice design, like your narration style, subscribed. I'd like to see the bottom sweep of secondary hull underneath six windows extended further decreasing that huge concave sweep but that's just me. 😎
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and glad to have you as a subscriber!
I was a fan of Alf back in the day and there are even rumors of a reboot.
4:23 Someone pointed out that the ship looks like a woman on her back with her legs spread out. Unfortunately, I cannot UNSEE that now.
Awesome vid! Good info and monologue!
Thanks A Better Day Nutrition!
liking everything but the nacelles are just ugh...if they were placed forward more...maybe...and those connections to the nacelles look backwards (but that front view looked amazing, ill give it that, they look like they have their proper spacing instead of being so close together like before)
The -A is the best looking Enterprise yet. I'm really glad to see this redesign and can't wait to see it in action in the next movie.
We will see her in Quentin Tarantino Star Trek 4!
@@MichaelWilliams-star-trek Now we'll see her in another Kelvin Timeline movie, since the original cast (Minus Anton RIP man you'll be missed!) is coming back!
I have to said the JJverse Enterprise-A is indeed beauty...or maybe the Abramprise just suck.
Anyway, I am expecting to see her more often - espercially in STO and OSC.
The Top Down/bottom up Profile of 2009 Enterprise From a quick glance just Reminds Me of Excelsior Due to the Long Close Necelles
Nice Design 💜
Yes it is!
Fit in with the idea that Star Trek was supposed to be a western in space the enterprise to me always looked from its side elevation as a Winged horse
Looking at the image at 6:40, the only major thing i dont like about the Alfa is the back of the neck, i think it would have looked better with the angled sweped back style of the 2009 enterprise especially with the base of the pilons being larger and the engineering section being longer as well, other than that the only minor thing is the sharp point on the shuttle bay area, should have left it more rounded i think, but its tolerable. other than that I like it, especially the new necells and necell positioning.
In the next Star Trek movie it should have some alterations.
hopefully for the better, they are definitely on the right track.
I loved the last 3Abrams Star Trek movies. All fast paced, looked techo, great music...and this ship is beautiful. To be honest I like all previous Enterprise versions to, but this one is my pick.
This is GORGEOUS ~
Love the new Enterprise!
Any thoughts on the nacelles, dude?
many years I made my models enterprise e, f, g, h , I. I had to delete my e when was made for real in movie, lol. my 1701-i model was great
According to Sean Hargreaves, when he was a guest on trekyards, he said the torp launchers are at the bottom of the saucer. The reason was so when they fire, the light would interact with the botom of the saucer and make for a good visual effect.
Tahk you for this jice Video, i was very suprised when i saw the Enterprise, it looked so much bettern than the previous one. The only bad Thing there was the outright hatred from fans over this ship, for no apparent reason other than to hate it.
I like the remastered effect of the photon torpedo reflection as it fired from under neath the saucer. I loved the two part interview Trekyards did with Sean Hargreaves, he is such a talented artist. Some fans will just hate on anything new...
This is definitely better than what we had in 2009. However, I have to throw my vote with all the others who will always love the TMP Refit Enterprise (NCC-1701). I also think the NCC-1701-A is better too. I can also say that I can get into the 2016 Beyond Enterprise much more than in the previous movies and am glad for that. Now they just need to stop blowing it up every movies.
79 refit introduction. Is by far better! AND my personal favorite intro. Followed by the intro of the Galaxy class D In Encounter at far point!
No one asked.
so what do you think about the discovery vision of the Connie Mark 1? and I thought I was sick with the flu. AGGGH! BARRF!
We have only seen the wire frame model. The U.S.S Defiant has been in the mirror universe for at least 100 years. Multiple refits should be expected. I'll reserve judgment till when I see it on screen. This is what Trekyards thinks it looks like: ua-cam.com/video/f3wtUkiJa6s/v-deo.html
seen it. and I told them it's still ugly. jj was closer to tos then that.
It should also be noted that that image came from Terran rebels so it might have undergone a refit if that data was old.
GOOD POINT.
And for the record it has been confirmed those were Terran modifications.
Hope the phasers are blue now
I believe it has the red short burst and t has the blue beams. Look at the bottom of the saucer you can see that the phaser emitters are there.
I like the look, has a more industrial look?
I just hope they remember to fit working shield generators this time! :P
Best looking Enterprise!
Now we have A i hope soon we can see B or D
Hopefully we'll get to see it in a movie or 2
S.J. Clarkson's movie is probably the movie we will see the new Enterprise-A in action.
Love Star Trek!
Great review of the Enterprise A. Love new Enterprise
Great review!
Thanks MrMyakyu !
Looks way better than the '09 JJ version. If only they stuck to the prime timeline sizing.
Now all we need is a movie to feature it in.
I actually like the 2009 one the most. My only gripe was the positioning of the neck and the nacelle pylon angle. Neck and saucer I feel needed to be moved forward toward the deflector dish and wider nacelle pylons angle. If it weren't for that, I would've loved it to the point it would rival the Prime Universe Constitution Class Refit.
I really need a eaglemoss model of this
I demand this model in STO
Justin Lin and jj Abrams are a great combo
Yes they were. I would like to see them both back directing. Quentin Tarantino is directing the next Star Trek and I am excited!!!
Is this model available? I would like a 1/500 scale one of it.
The wing girders need to be more Swept back......and the neck needs to be more Swept forward
No, these are all horrible suggestions. Thankfully, you aren’t a designer.
Amazing!
Yeah, I also see the differences on the both enterprises the one that got destroyed by krall.
P.s. I subscribed
Glad to have you as a subscriber!
To each his own but, It looks even more unbalanced to me. I really lacks the grace of the Original Constitution-class of the refit. It actually looks very awkward.
Agreed. I think this is horrid. Looks to me like those nacelles are gonna fall right off. There's no balance. This doesn't even come close to the original Refit/1701-A design. I mean, I was never a fan of the 2009 Enterprise, but this is by far the ugliest abomination (only slightly better than the Enterprise-J)...
@@shannonpotratz489Lol you Trekkers are a sad bunch. Always crying. This was supposed to be its own totally difference evolution in design. It was NEVER supposed to mirror the 79 refit. They did something DIFFERENT, and they should have bc it’s an ALTERNATE TIMELINE. Cry more
yeah, but what do you think about it compared to the Matt Jeffries design?
Matt Jeffries' original design is fantastic and will always live on in the hearts of fans. Star Trek is based on technology and as time grows it changes. Matt Jeffries even updated his design for the unproduced Phase 2 show which a fan film picked up on. ua-cam.com/video/KVSkKEuQ4cs/v-deo.html
I think this ship should have been the 1701 from the very get-go in the reboot films, and not the A. To me, the two ships from the Reboot films should have happened the other way around; Ryan Church's design makes a better Enterprise A to me (you brought up the nacelles being too close together in the Church design - agreed, and this is partly why I think the Church design would have been better as the Enterprise A or a refit as the refit and A from the prime Universe had her nacelles closer together) and Shawn's design is a better original.
With all that I just said, Shawn's design would have made for a great "phase II" design between TOS and TMP in the Prime Universe.
I'm just happy we have the new A now. :)
The Enterprise from TOS was by far the best design. It was clean and elegant. They did not try to make it aerodynamic, which is not necessary for a ship that is not being operated in the atmosphere. Later versions were "overdesigned" For example, why the the pylons that support the engines swept back in the second design? Just to make it look "sleeker"?
It was a totally dated design. Both Roddenberry and Matt Jeffries are both on record as having said if they had the budget to do more with it, they would have. The TOS was fine for it’s time but for the modern era its design is far too simplistic
Never understood why they use the letter after the registration number. There is only ever one NCC-1701 in service at any one time. In the real world (in all navies) we don't use version letters on a ships registration number.
The alphabetical numbering on the Enterprises was to denote the vessels that were commissioned to denote the generational starships after Kirk commanded the famous original 1701 and his bravery in both universes for saving a large group population.
I personally loved the 09 nacelles..hell I loved the 09 enterprise as a whole
Personally I like this new design except for the extremely large pylon base. Paul Taylor made an excellent model of the Enterprise A that in my opinion has the best combination of tweaks
The Prime Enterprise refit will ALWAYS be my favorite. However, the Kelvin Enterprise-A definitely is a vast improvement over the 09 and 09 Refit. As you said there could still be some improvement made to the Kelvin Enterprise-A but she still looks beautiful compared to the other two.
I had way too many issues with the 09 / Into Darkness Enterprise. The spacing of the nacelles, the size of the nacelles, the way how the engineering section looked, etc.... just way too much and I really dislike it. Although, I will admit it has since grown on me and I'm currently building the Revell model kit of it.
Oh interesting enough for the 09 / Into Darkness version on the bottom saucer there was supposed to be the words and numbers NCC-1701 on both sides of the saucer just like the Prime TOS Enterprise. For whatever stupid reason JJ Abrams told them to ditch it. I wish they had left it there because it definitely would have complimented the Prime TOS Enterprise and it would have not made the saucer section look...blank.
Good review!
Thank you!
Jewel of the Galaxy
Yes she is!
Finally I see someone mention the nacelles being way too close on the '09 Enterprise. Fun fact that's actually sad: On the ST DAC game, the Constitution class ship has the nacelles as far away from each other as they were on the '66 one and the new one. Take a look here, cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/03/star_trek_dac_gdc.jpg. It's so painfully better with the separated nacelles...
I plan on doing a video with the nacelles being fixed on the 2009 Enterprise.
Michael Williams Hm. I see. I got to subscribe now! Hahaha
Glad to have you as a subscriber!
I really hope star trek 4 is not a disappointing. So far i like the design of U. S .S 17O1 REFIT. LIKE SAID IT LOOKS LIKE THE OLD ENTERPRISE. I HOPE THEY DON'T MESS DID UP THIS TIME.
I like this "A" except for the shuttle bay. I now wonder if we'll ever see it again. Tarantino may want to go more retro, if that happens.
Probably we will see her in the next Trek film. None of the uniforms or props from Beyond were auction off.
Love the new Enterprise.
For me. I like her in 2009 more.
I still think the nacells thin out too much at the rear and they could be moved forwards on the pylons. Then it would be near perfect, still massive improvement though
What a beauty.
Yes she is!
Never had a problem with the JJprise's. They seem more grandiose.
The only I don’t like about this ship is the black circular surround in the middle engine. They should had done it in a fading bluish hue like the original refit.
Didn’t like it at first but I’m actually warming to it now. I think a few tweaks for the next movie but other than that it’s a dam fine ship if you ask me. Quote from st generations there.
3:00 “and now we look at the side shot”.
Beautiful.
Not sure what the Kelvin timeline NCC-1701 Enterprise did to actually warrant the "A" on the new one
I honestly liked the 2013 design the most.
i love this ship
Excelent!
I like it but there is a few flaws to the ship like the warp naccels being too short, the torpedo bay being too low, and the regastry number on the under side of the ship i like it but why add enterprise on the bottom of the saucer cause the underside of the saucer suppose to have NCC-1701-A not U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-A just the regastry but from those three minor flaws i love how they made the ship
Having USS Enterprise on the underside ofnthe saucer was done on purpose as this is an alternate timeline. If there is a fourth movie there will probably will be tweeks to the design.
Oh i forgot
Preferred the 09 version.
Engine bay looks like a shipping recieving bay at a brewery. 😂
