I have never laughed harder in a theater than this movie, i know nearly every line. It is peak Vaughn and Wilson, and peak comedy for the 2000's. The whole cast just killed their roles and it came together to make a piece of film magic.
The first couple in the very beginning of the movie, the husband was played by Dwight Yoakam. Yoakam is a country music star and is also was in the movie Four Christmases that Vince Vaughn is in, very funny movie.
Fred Claus is a really underrated Vince Vaughn movie in my opinion. Fun Christmas story, decent jokes, surprising amount of sincerity and heart. I'd love to see you two tackle that one. Perfect time of year for it too.
I crashed a couple of weddings in the Roaring Fork Valley (Aspen area). I also worked manymanymany such parties with the decorators, the food & drink, and the hardware staff (tents, tables, glassware, silverware, etc). You'd be surprised how many such parties take place in high-priced areas and how little crossover there is between different crowds; The Bass Pro Shops owners wedding is going to have a different crowd than Eisner's son's wedding, which is going to have a different crowd from a Russian oligarchs wedding etc.
Owen Wilson said Wow 5 times in this movie. The first is at the mediation ,another at the reception with the mom played by Jane Seymore later again when he feels her up, another when he is on the couch and lastly when he is on the steps of the Washington monument.
I was at the Australian premiere for this movie. Asked Owen Wilson for a photo, he ignored me to speak to a couple of young lasses (can't really blame him). Isla Fisher stopped, grabbed my camera & pulled me in close for a selfie with her. That made me a life-long fan of hers. She was so friendly & just amazing. I still have a schoolboy crush on her.
If you want to watch more of Vince Vaugh, watch The Breakup. He’s both funny, but it’s also in a serious, real life story so it creates this tension which gives it a very different and complex feel
One of the all time classic comedies. I have prob seen this movie 20 times and only recently found out Bradley Coopers character wasn't named Zack haha.
I spent days helping my little sister setup for her large wedding, and I only knew like 10 people there, out of hundreds. It's easy to go unnoticed in a place unless it's a secure event of some sort.
I wonder if Simone even knows that the OMG meter is there. I love it and I love that they’re not all the same and have so many different intonations to them.
It is easier than you'd think. Both families are meeting the other for first time so they just assume someone is from the other family when wondering who they are.
Alright so for Vince Vaughn, I would say this might be his best performance all time, but other ones I like from him are “Old School”, “Coupes Retreat”, “The Dilemma”, “The Break up” are all great. But for Christmas, “Four Christmases” and “Fred Claus” are really good too.
"Old School" from 2 years previous to this movie has both VV and Owen's brother Luke Wilson with Will Ferrell (bigger than a cameo). Same vein of comedy and raunch. "The Internship" from 2103 is a PG comedy with Vaughn and Owen Wilson again, out of work and trying to earn a spot working at Google.
Movieweb counts 29 movies where Owen Wilson says "wow", including his best films of "Bottle Rocket", "The Royal Tenenbaums", "Zoolander", "Midnight in Paris", and "Meet the Parents." He said it 6 times in this movie, so you missed it (maybe it wasn't as long as you thought it should be to count?). For Vince Vaughn films, you 100% have to see "Swingers" as it made him. He's money in it. Also, "Zoolander", "Made", and "Be Cool." Thinking about it, I can't recall any Elmore Leonard reactions in the reactionverse.
30:39 in response to this section of the response. If you haven't already seen them i strongly recommend the Before trilogy (Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight) And I mean you can't really go wrong with Linklater
I gave a toast at my brother's wedding. A few others had already gone so the background noise was distracting but when I stood up it suddenly got really quiet and I had the whole room. I looked around, and said, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash." It got a good laugh from everybody. But I played it straight and sincere after that. Sometimes you just need to watch the atmosphere and say what comes to mind.
31:42 I agree with others saying Swingers, Old School and The Break-Up (Swingers for sure as it was also one of Jon Favreau's first big acting and writing roles) but I'd also check out Made from 2001 (which was Favreau's directorial debut) Delivery Man, The Internship (which may be one long ad for a certain company, but it does reunite Vince and Owen). Also check out Fred Claus which would be a good Christmas movie and Freaky which is a fun horror comedy which would be good for Halloween.
Hi Guys - a funny one with a good cast, including Vince Vaughn, is COUPLES RETREAT - also in the cast is Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman, Faizon Love, Kristin Davis, Malin Akerman, Kristin Bell, Kali Hawk, Jean Reno (Vince Vaughn's real father appears in it briefly as his father - you see him in a Home Depot-like store). The film was directed by Peter Billingsley (yes, little Ralphie Parker from A Christmas Story).
I didn't hear a word once the OMG counter came on. Took full concentration. I was really sweating that we weren't going to get 60, but Simone came through at the end.
If you do more with Vince Vaughn, please please please do Old School. There's not that many movie channel reactions to it here, and it honestly was one of the movies that kicked off the run of Will Ferrell movies that he had for about 10 years that were all just insanely good. The cast is so good and it's a kind of outrageous, laugh-along and don't overthink it comedy like this, Anchor Man, Talladega Nights etc.
An ex and I once crashed a wedding, we were just leaving a wedding we were invited too and happened upon another wedding with open bar….we just couldn’t help ourselves
Owen Wilson "Wow" counts: Bottlerocket - 1 Breakfast of Champions - 1 The Haunting - 5 Shanghai Noon - 1 Meet The Parents - 2 Zoolander - 1 I Spy - 3 Shanghai Knights - 4 The Big Bounce - 2 Starsky & Hutch - 1 Wedding Crashers - 6 Cars - 6 You, Me and Dupree - 3 The Darjeeling Limited -1 Drillbit Taylor - 2 Marley & Me - 6 Marmaduke - 4 Little Fockers - 2 Hall Pass - 6 Midnight in Paris - 7 Cars 2 - 1 The Big Year - 3 The Internship - 5 Are You Here - 2 Free Birds - 3 Night at the Museum: The Secret Tomb - 1 No Escape - 2 The French Dispatch - 1 Loki - 1
I don't think there is really assigned seating at the wedding ceremony itself other than the immediate family sits all the way up front. But at the wedding receptions there is usually assigned seating for bigger weddings.

A good Vince Vaughn movie and timely for the holidays is 4 Christmases. Then ofc Old School, one of my fave comedies of all time.
One of the funniest movies EVER. So many great lines. Vince Vaughn is comedy gold in this one.
It is easier than you'd think. Both families are meeting the other for first time so they just assume someone is from the other family when wondering who they are.
I really enjoyed him in 4 Christmases. He was also good in "Starsky & Hutch" as well as "Be Cool" even though those were antagonist roles.
Fav Vince Vaughn role to me was in Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty.
Also, "Zoolander", "Made", and "Be Cool."
Thinking about it, I can't recall any Elmore Leonard reactions in the reactionverse.
The only wedding ive ever been at is my dad and stepmom wedding ,i was 10 . I'm 31 and never been at a wedding except that one and it was Small.
30:39 in response to this section of the response. If you haven't already seen them i strongly recommend the Before trilogy (Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight)
And I mean you can't really go wrong with Linklater
I gave a toast at my brother's wedding. A few others had already gone so the background noise was distracting but when I stood up it suddenly got really quiet and I had the whole room. I looked around, and said, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash." It got a good laugh from everybody. But I played it straight and sincere after that. Sometimes you just need to watch the atmosphere and say what comes to mind.
Great funny Vince Vaughn films: Old School, Four Christmases, and for a scary role of his: Domestic Disturbance.
'She was my first Asian!'
Isla Fisher in the bathroom when she says 'I'll find you' is the most erotically creepy moment in cinema lmao.
Well worth checking out the movie where Vince Vaughn got his start - Swingers. It is a nice time capsule for the nineties too.
Simone! Not all pixies are evil 😮
Aside from that, your comments are a joy. "NO lessons learned!" 😅You and George are a lot of fun 👍🏾😄👏🏾
01:55 Fun fact the arguing husband is country singer Dwight Yokam
Old School. Great movie with Vince Vaughn and a different Wilson Brother.
Two other movies that feature Vince Vaughn in similar roles is old school and the internship. Both are very worth the watch
Other Vince Vaughn comedies that I recommend are Couples Retreat, Four Christmases and Old School.
An ex and I once crashed a wedding, we were just leaving a wedding we were invited too and happened upon another wedding with open bar….we just couldn’t help ourselves

I don't think there is really assigned seating at the wedding ceremony itself other than the immediate family sits all the way up front. But at the wedding receptions there is usually assigned seating for bigger weddings.
