      Kind of poetic. Ryan did create Atlas, in a way. By creating economical and societal conditions for Fontaine to exploit, and by raiding Fontaine, thus making him assume the new identity.

    I have a problem with Fontaine: if he was NEVER spliced up, up to the point Jack gets to the Proving Grounds, why in the world would he SUDDENLY want to splice up? Sure he was found out by Jack to be a fraud. But this notion that he needed to fight Jack one-on-one with him as a splicer made no sense to me. Frank went through all this trouble to fight his Ace in a final battle. Even if Fontaine won against Jack, he is utterly dependant on Adam. If he stops taking the equal amount of Adam to the extreme injections of plasmids, his body would shutdown completely! Addictive Personality Disorder aside, it was entirely out of character for Fontaine to resort to a Final Solution. If I was Fontaine, and I had access to the entire city of Rapture and its security systems, I'd strand Jack in a complex and blow up tunnels, fill the area with water and destroy power grid to the building to lockdown the area. That way Jack can't hack, breath, open doors, access plasmids at Gatherer's Gardens, swap out Gene tonics and activate Vita-Chambers as those rely on the power grid! Jack would be hard press to escape and everyone there would be helpless to save him because Jack has just a radio, security cameras and drones would be locked out and unpowered. Jack's only ally at this point was Tenebaum and even she has limitations to her abilities. If she had to risk herself to save Jack, her redemption of saving the Little Sisters would die with her. Tenebaum's too dependant on others to do the work herself and won't risk herself to go after Jack. I don't know, Fontaine was pretty damn smart and I think he panicked when his own plans didn't go the way he wanted. This part really solidified my theory that Andrew Ryan dropping the Reverse Uno card with Jack and his death stirred up Jack's need for revenge against Fontaine. But I couldn't see the point Fontaine being a character working from the shadows suddenly wanting to mono-e-mono in a straight up fight to the death. If Fontaine survived Jack, he would have been screwed fighting Subject Delta. No amount of plasmids and Adam can prepare him against Delta (especially me and my combos) Delta shrugs off bullets like Doom Guy eats demon ass with his boomstick.

      lot of good points, especially the part about Delta ^^. antagonists in Bioshock would rather see the city sink/fall than accept defeat. make sens that most "evil" of them all decide to destroy himself to try and destroy you, the protagonist.

    • @VitZ9
      @VitZ9 Рік тому +4

      @@EricTheRedWiseman While I generally agree with your comment, it has one major problem - your solution for Fontaine dealing with Jack, drowning him in a random building, doesn't make for a satisfying conclusion to the game.
      But don't feel bad, Ken Levine has the same problem with all his games, and that's ultimately what happened with BioShock - they got to the end and realised they had no satisfying end boss fight to conclude the game. The same thing happened with BioShock Infinite, and with both The Many and SHODAN in System Shock 2. The only Shock game with a satisfying end boss battle was BioShock 2, and Ken Levine had nothing to do with that game.
      Which leaves us with the same problem Levine and Irrational Games had, how do you make Atlas a final boss? Ultimately I think they went the right direction, having him get so desperate you're hunting him down and killing all his men that he decides to splice up, even if the execution and his final boss design were underwhelming.
      Edit: Also, I don't think Fontaine had full control of Rapture by the end of Bioshock 1. Yes he has accomplished his main goal of killing Ryan, but the Bioshock 2 characters were still there. Lamb had her religious extremist Rapture Family, Sinclair was still walking around just chillin', and Stanley Poole still has control over Dionysus Park, etc.

Then she chooses to go back to save sally( even though she was the one that didnt care that sally got burned by the heated tunnelsw while Comstock was honestly trying to save her) which ironically caused the deaths of a bunch of innocents and much more little sisters because she helped Atlas get back to main rapture.

  • @thiagonunes2531

    A question i’ve always had regards to the WYK phrase. Some people state that in bioshock 1 it is said that fontaine helped Suchong made that the activation phrase for Jack. It’s been over a year since i replayed the original Bioshock, but i just finished Burial at Sea Episode 2. So, why does Atlas require Elizabeth’s help to figure out what the ace in the hole is? Is it because BaS is set in an alternate universe, or what i said about Atlas helping Suchong isn’t the case, or am i missing something?

    • @TheBioshockHub
      @TheBioshockHub  3 роки тому +1

      The timeline was a bit jumbled. Essentially, Atlas needed to know the Phrase which would've activated Jack. And you're right, in Bioshock, Fontaine and Tenenbaum (since she helps you fix it) programmed the WYK phrase with the help of Atlas/Fontaine.

    • @thiagonunes2531
      @thiagonunes2531 3 роки тому

      @@TheBioshockHub So basically he made the program with Tenenbaum and Suchong, but didn't know the phrase chosen by the latter? or is it a different universe, with constants and variables, and one of the variables being who brainwashed jack/who had the info on the activation phrase?

      @TheBioshockHub  3 роки тому +1

      @thiagonunes2531 3 роки тому

      @@TheBioshockHub i came up with this explanation: Suchong developed Jack’s mind control, growth acceleration and super human abilities by Fontaine’s demand, but Fontaine didn’t knew which phrase Suchong chose. I believe Suchong knew who Atlas was, but tried to hide his work on Jack from everyone, because Ryan allegedly won over and Suchong only cared about the money, not who he was working for. That is further believable when we analyse this phrase from Atlas to Elizabeth: “And tell Suchong Atlas hasn’t forgotten him”

      Remember, he was a conman, so he assumed many identities. For the Fontaine last name, he picked it up from a guy at a local bar.

      I wouldn't say a "common crook". I'd say a story of a well thought out plan by an extremely intelligent conman.

      @TheBioshockHub  5 років тому

      UA-cam problems have gone on for quite a long time. Every UA-camr deals with them. Whether it's a problem with notifications going out, videos going to subboxes, views not updating , analytics not update, etc. It might be because all of the traffic that UA-cam brings in, but at this point, I have absolutely no idea.
