Almost all of Russia's initial progress was in areas Ukraine had decided not to defend because the terrain was not suitable or there was a risk of getting cut off (as they ultimately did when Azov refused to evacuate Mariupol, for example).

I've been following two other maps but this is the best I've found yet. Updating the various fronts one by one instead of simultaneously may not be "realistic" but it is much, much clearer. Also the terrain (mountains/forests) are also something the other maps lack.

Yes, the same thing happened to me, on the night of February 24, I fell asleep almost at 05:00 local time (not knowing at all that the war had already (or in a matter of minutes) started), when I got up at 7:10 my mother said that the war (invasion) began, then I was in shock and trembled a little (whether from the cold or from fear), this was the first time in my life that I was overtaken by the fear of war!

I like this style of maps that seems to move in "real time", much more than other styles of maps on UA-cam that I have seen... although there are errors and strange things in it, that is easy to solve (in any case I am the that I'm wrong and I misread the map and I don't know anything about geography, politics, military strategy and logistics and other things).
By the way, when I saw the beginning of days 1 to 3, I said: Naaahhh, they don't advance as fast as I thought... but from days 4 and 5 that changed and now the Russian advance is really noticeable... it seems that only they were taking the time to directly invade Kiev as quickly, conveniently, and effectively as possible.

Потому что большей частью представленное на карте не верно! Сплошного фронта по сути нет, как это представленно на карте! Российские войска идут в основном вдоль дорог, украинские войска закрепились в городах, организовав там опорные пункты, про контроатаки украинцев это вообще ересь, ну выскочила мобильная група, нанесла удар и откатилась на прежние позиции! Например на 6:15 атака через каховское водохранилище, кто нибудь вообще об этом слышал, какими плавсредствами обеспечивалась переправа? В общем ересь полная!

From the map it looks Russia has now occupied more than 30% land mass as well as encircled many battalions of Ukrainian army and going forward resistance will become less intense . Russia army seems to be occupying the currently encircled Ukrainian army positions , establishing logistical , command and control posts as well as reinforcing the army with fresh troops in those break ups . Russian army also seems to be moving northward towards the border of Maldova where some of its troops lyes cutting off Odessa from rest of Ukraine then bringing in Amphibious troops to take it on and move towards north to meet its army moving westward in the north and finally encircling the whole Ukrainian army . A bigger Pincer move was noticed not just little ones.

The Ukrainian commanding officers should retreat their forces to the West bank of Dnieper river instead of being trap in Eastern region. Once been trapped it is not a wise decision.
Should defend and counter offensive at the Kiev region. And reinforce on the Centre Ukraine to maintain its survival to fight another day especially reinforcing on the Western part.

После провала блицкрига и ожесточенного сопротивления на основных направлениях, армия РФ стала расползаться во все широты, растягивая линию фронта. Это не есть кольца, просто они продвигаются в места с наименьшим сопротивлением. Даже, если это не имеет тактического и тем более стратегического смысла. При умелой организации теробороны и достаточных средствах у них, они без труда расправятся с разрозненными частями. Это выглядит как проигрышная ситуация для РФ.

Как же скажите России в данном случае сделать когда украина 8 лет бомбила и убивала своих же мирных жителей которые не захотели подчинится такой власти ,что привротила всю страну в нацизм, и не одна страна европпы этого не замечала, что пришлось сделать путем жизней своих солдат России и ЛДНР.
