DiResta Spoon on a Bandsaw

- This weekend we did a spoon and bowl making class up at the house and in the spirit of learning I made a new spoon from ASH! This spoon is the very first thing I cut on my new 1928 AMERICAN TOOL 36" bandsaw.
It cut like BUTTER! all torque no stalling at all!
The power is amazing to have right there a the blade!
... and because Bob & Genny made one too!

Love that clip near the end... putting the pieces back together to reveal the finished product.
Well done, brother.
That is one amazing band saw! And the things you can make with any band saw is always impressive!!
It's neat watching the spoon emerge from the cut pieces. Great fun to watch as always!
Amazing band saw and confidence to work with it. Couple of nice tricks with sending, scraping and vice holds. Thank you Jimmy
Poof like magic - a spoon! Thank you Jimmy you are a master.
Its just a beautiful spoon. It tells a lot about my heritage. The pioner from Norway had to make their own tools and spoons had been something that has gone from father to son, and lately to their daughters. Wish you all a great week. Best wishes from Jan
I really love the way the grain structure showed up in the finished spoon. I also like the method for getting the handle symmetrical. Simple but most wouldn’t have considered doing that. Always learn something. Thanks Jimmy. 🙏🏼
Absolutely inspiring watching you work!!
I made a spoon like that once, it turned out to be a paint stir stick when I was finished. If I had seen this video first it would have changed everything. Jimmy you never cease to educate, love all that you do. Just goes to show, no matter the project anything worth doing is worth doing right!! Please keep the videos coming, I need my fix!!!
Great video Jimmy. Loved the spoon hiding in the cut pieces visual.
Sweet bandsaw skills! It’s always a treat watching you use one to it’s full potential. Cheers!
The hands of a master.
Thank you brother.
Always a pleasure to watch the creative process you employ JD! I manage to learn something new in every single video! Thanks for Sharing the journey Brother! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Well that’s just a spoonful of awesome right there! Thanks for the constant inspiration Jimmy!
Hey there Paison ! I'm a long time viewer and subscriber and I just wanna say that spoon reminds me of my Grandma when she was stirring her 'gravy ' for the homemade Gnocchi....and of course I remember her having to sample it with that bigass woodden spoon to make sure it tasted like it should,,,,hmm I do miss Gramms Josephine 's cooking ... thanks for the Memories Big Jim !
brings me back to when my mother used to wallup me with a spoon similar to that, ah the memories. great to meet you at makers central, thanks for the face punch photo :)
Love the band saw videos. The wind powered lumberjack was inspiring, I have to try that, but this was sculpting at it's best. Keep them coming!
Awesome video...and even better that i was there when you made it! Had a fantastic weekend and I agree....that bandsaw is amazing!! Loved using it!!
Is there no end to this mans talent, I look forward to every video he produces.
Loving that band saw! That thing is a beast. Great job Jimmy the shop looks awesome!
Using the cutoff as a template blew my mind - simple yet effective.
yess my eyes popped open when i saw that
tricks of the trade
I've been a fan pf Jimmy for years now, I've seen him do that all the time, he's simply a woodworking genius.
what about using cutoffs as a vice holding device :D
Hey I made the cut! Swatting a mosquito at 3:25. Such a good weekend Jimmy, thank you!
Awesome spoonage - thanks for sharing, Jimmy!
So often I see people carve flat spoons. It's so refreshing to see one made with a nice arc to it. Love it, Jimmy.
Everybody comments on the bandsaw work, but I really like the drum sander attachment for the grinder. That got my interest! Great work, great spoon.
Your bandsaw skill is exceptional!
The wind-up on that bandsaw is crazy sounding!
A joy to watch, as always
Yes, one can. And have a custom packing box as well. Mechanised school, contrary school and old school blends nicely.
Fantastic as usual Jimmy. I missed seeing videos, so this was a nice surprise on Memorial Day morning. That spoon is a real useful tool, and pretty to boot.
It seems like a pretty comfortable spoon to handle! I love your spoon making videos! Different every time!
Everything I learned in Shop Class was a lie. Dragging BACKWARDS against a spinning bandsaw?!?! I KNEW IT. I did it. And was scolded every time. But the results don't lie. Thanks, Jimmy. I see something new in every one of your videos. Even if it's simply confirmation of my instinct. A joy to watch, as always.
Mr. Biggs ! This is your shop teacher ....you were right after all ! guess thats why you are very rich today
I was just about to ask you for a new video, good to know about you again Jimmy!
See I knew your video was worth the wait, nice video Jimmy very entertaining I might try this one day
That spoon terrifies me. It looks EXACTLY like the one my mom used to would chase me with when I messed up as a kid.
Beautiful job, and welcome back. We missed you
Glad you’re back hella a spoonful 🤘🏽
Nice touch on that big bueat of a bandsaw, Jimmy. DiResta is history.👊😉
Love the free hand design at the bandsaw!!

Mad bandsaw shaping skills! Never thought of going the other way on a bandsaw. Love it, new here & subed...

I've missed you Jimmy - thanks!
That's one fine spoon!
Awesome video👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Good job !! As usual 😊
Lovely spoon well done jimmy
Classic DiResta. Amazing work as usual. Funny coincidence that you and Bob (and Ginny) made spoons this week.
That's pretty sweet! And here I thought it was unbreakable tool of discipline. My mom stopped wasting her wooden spoons on me and my brothers when they'd break on our backside and we'd laugh!!
*Nice Job, Jimmy*
Inspired.
Again.
Thank you.
Let's face it, Jimmy is a master on that bandsaw! Nicely done................ :)
Coolest reveal in a while - nice, Jimmy.
Love the Laura kampf swag jimmy!! I'm a huge fan of you both!!!

Holy Cow, what a bandsaw!!!!

Buddy!! 😉
@@MakerMaddox Hey Dude, what's up? Nice to see you here. Did you see how +jimmydiresta handles that bandsaw? It's crazy!
@@heyimamaker yeah he uses it like no one else. Almost like widdling but... powered. Sometime is reminds me of those giant shawarma cylinders the way he shaves off the tiniest slivers.
@@MakerMaddox Mmmm Donair ( not sure if you guys have Donairs )
@@heyimamaker looked it up! Yes those! So tasty!
The silver fox returns with another amazing video! You know, it still astonishes me how easy you make things look man, but it takes skill, and practice to get to that point. My gf wants a serving of whatever you're having. haha.
Very nice!!
Really nice👌
Break out the corn flakes! 😁
Thanks for the video.
That was great! Looks a really satisfying shape to hold too!
That's a funny song you're singing @3:32 (sorry, couldn't resist)
😀😁😂
Nice lozhka, komrade!
stunning!
Nice work Jimmy.... Envious of your bandsaw.
keep inspiring me jimmy!
Why can't I get "Porridge" outa my head, something I don't think I've ever eaten, after watching this 😀
A fork is a multi-pronged stick, a knife can be a cleaved rock...... a spoon is a challenge for man. A great skill to learn and master.
Classic Jimmy diresta's video, spoon is very successful.
Nice! Love seeing you make! 😎 I carved a spoon recently on a hotel balcony. It was fun, but would have been much easier with power tools!
Jimmy is one of his own kind!
Jimmy. You are the band saw maestro
Jim
It's a good looking spoon.
