@Liquid_Calcium28 yeah that seems pretty unlikely assuming the rhinoceros attacked fist and rhinoceros normally do that but also the hippo definitely couldn't just one shot a rhino things have some thicc skin mean if it's in the water the rhino is at a disadvantage and that's really the only way that I can imagine the rhinoceros Losing but the hippo is still a strong Opponent so one shot from the horn would likely not be enough to completely kill it Instantly definitely depending on where it's hit though.

The chuckwalla enters the final round with its first contestant - the huge gharial with its mouth full of teeth. The chuckwalla is tiny and is a herbivore, and so doesn't stand much of a chance. The chuckwalla looks pretty nervous, standing in silence when -
    **ZAP!**
A bolt of lightning strikes the gharial who falls to the floor immediately.
    **CHUCKWALLA WINS!**
In the second part of the final round, the chuckwalla is facing the Inland Taipan, with its strong venom. The chuckwalla backs in fear, completely helpless, when -
    **SPLAT!**
A sudden asteroid falls and lands on the Inland Taipan's head, killing it instantly.

it's a win to teach kids completely inaccurate and misleading information?
and as to the 'as long as they're reading something' - what an asinine comment. Would you give greys anatomy to kids? would you let them read mein kampf? would you have them read the kama sutra?
This complete disregard for critical thinking, or accuracy in something portraying itself as scientific, is actually the opposite of what we should be teaching kids.
Entertaining for them sure, but just like I wouldn't dare let my children watch Keeping up with the Kardashians, because it isn't age appropriate and provides no real insight or value, this book perpetuates ignorance and encourages a lack of critical thinking. Both things that are vitally important in a childs development.

It even gave survival tips for all of them (like how to get off of thin ice)
This sort of stuff is a great way to get kids interested in science.

Why is this the luckiest Chuckwalla in the universe? Why the heck did they have the gharial use its tail (which isn’t even whip-like) as a whip?
Reptile Rumble isn’t even as bad as Ocean Rumble (which had actually incorrect fun facts (sailfish speed), a narwhal using its tusk like a shishkebab, an incorrect picture/name for the sea snake, venom being called “poison” multiple times, a stone fish killing a polar bear, squid arms being called “legs”, and a man o’ war defeating a leatherback sea turtle… which is a gelatinovore. That’s like horse vs grass and somehow the grass wins)
Clint himself said in his review of Ultimate Ocean Rumble that the facts being accurate was the only strength of the Ultimate Reptile Rumble.
And even ocean rumble did have some interesting and true information, like that man o’ wars are actually a bunch of smaller sea creatures not just one.
Something I think is worth noting: the author seems to at least be improving their accuracy as they go. The infamously horrible Ocean Rumble was published in 2015. The comparatively less horrible Reptile Rumble was published in 2021. So, there’s that lol
I agree that this book isn’t great, but it is still educational. It gets kids interested in science, particularly zoology. There are much better educational books for kids (like one of my absolute favourite books as a kid “First Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life”) but a lot of kids won’t be interested in books that are overtly educational (especially if they have encyclopedia in the title lol), so silly “what if?” books can get those kids interested in learning.
Also I can’t believe the outrageous comparisons you’re making lol I’m gonna write a whole other comment on those 😂😂

Okay, the ULTIMATE reptile rumble should definitely not have included a chuckwalla or an amphisbaenian, or anything that stood a chance against either one. Here are my picks for an actual ultimate reptile rumble. I'm choosing these because they each have unique abilities and are what I would consider to be the most powerful members of their category:
Salt Water Crocodile - the biggest and most powerful crocodilian
Komodo Dragon - the biggest and most powerful lizard, also venomous
Reticulated Python - the longest snake
King Cobra - the largest venomous snake
Inland Taipan - the most venomous snake
American Alligator - not as big and powerful as the Salty, but with much better mobility out of the water
Common Snapping Turtle - It doesn't stand a chance, but this is probably the most dangerous kind of turtle, and they deserve some representation
Spitting Cobra - Not only a venomous snake, but one with a ranged attack
Green Anaconda - the heaviest snake
Black Mamba - Fastest snake, still large and highly venomous
Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake - The longest viper, with excellent camouflage and very long fangs.
Crocodile Monitor - Another big monitor to make an even 12
I know that this list is weighted toward snakes, particularly venomous ones, but snakes seem to have the most unique gimmicks to them, and venom is a great equalizer in these kinds of fights. Snakes also hunt lizards a lot more than lizards hunt snakes, which kinda already knocks most lizards off the list. The poor snapping turtle is way out of its league, but it's the only turtle with any serious offensive capabilities, and it might even defeat one or two of the smaller snakes if it gets lucky.
The Salt Water Croc definitely has the power to beat anything on this list if it gets in a bite, but it is not a sure winner by any means. Constrictors can and do take out crocodilians, and I think both the Retic and the Anaconda could take out even a Salty if they got a wrap on it. Of the venomous snakes, I think the King Cobra would be the most likely to emerge victorious. It does, after all, make its living by eating other snakes, and it has quite potent venom. The Rattlesnake could probably pierce the tough crocodilian hide with its long fangs, and could use its camouflage to surprise other opponents. The Spitting Cobra would be a bit of a wildcard, given its ranged attack, but I think the crocodilians, with their widely-spaced eyes and nictitating membranes would be able to beat it without much trouble.
The Komodo Dragon would be a very strong contender, and could probably defeat most of the other animals in the lineup under the right conditions. The Anaconda, Retic, and Salty would be the biggest challenges for the Dragon, though, and I honestly don't see the Dragon beating the Salty. I would give the advantage in a battle between the American Alligator and the Komodo Dragon to the Dragon, though, since the Dragon has at least as good mobility and has the advantage of venom.
One fight that I think would be interesting for showing off the relative abilities and the differences between the venomous snakes would be the Rattlesnake vs. the Spitting Cobra. The cobra could spit its venom and blind the rattlesnake, but the rattlesnake could in turn use its heat-sensing pits to locate and defeat the cobra, despite being blinded.
The Retic vs Anaconda fight, if it happened, would be really hard to call, but I think I'd give the advantage to the Anaconda, since it's the heavier snake and doesn't have much of a length disadvantage. It might also be able to survive longer without oxygen, considering how much time it spends submerged in water, and so it might be able to win that way.

One major issue with any “who would win” things is a lot of it is complicated or doesn’t have one right answer and can go differently based on a number of factors. These books are insane I remember when a Brown Bear and Polar bear fought the polar literally said there is no point in fighting and the brown bear won. But the craziest one was T-Rex vs a velociraptor pack, the velociraptor somehow won! I have no idea how a few raptors would win against a mega apex predator.

    • @killdozer7792
      @killdozer7792 Рік тому +8

Oh, I can explain that. The reason the Velociraptor won because the pack consisted of about 50+ individuals with the mentality of hornets and all swarmed the T. rex at once.
Yeah, never mind the fact that an actual Velociraptor pack would probably be about eight at most, more likely a family group than an actual "pack" and certainly not be coordinated in that same manner as very social insects.

This book could have done with the inclusion of birds, just to make it more interesting. Like for instance the shoebill stork, the one reptile that I think would have a fighting chance against the gharial that wouldn't be disqualified on account of being the biggest of its respective group. It's so bizarre though that the dragon's _length_ is what got it kicked out and not the speed, heft, resilience, raw strength, horror show of a mouth and the sheer aggression they display. The gharial is also such a weird choice for a crocodilian. I get that the snout is striking, but it's the most noteworthy crocodilian adapted specifically for exclusively small prey. They could have used a tomistoma or an American crocodile to get the best of both worlds, as well as have a smaller animal that would make the fights marginally less lopsided.
This might just be my bias toward the Komodo dragon, but given the boulder trick, I can see a world where this book allowed it to fight before promptly getting its hunting strategy entirely wrong and the gharial dies of sepsis, or a world where it got the hunting strategy right and it jumps the gharial before an epic battle ensues.
